It’s an awesome Golf Club!

Beijing Country Golf Club har hatt blandede anmeldelser, noen gode, andre ikke så. Så - her er min objektive oppfatning!  1 time fra Beijing Central. Denne golfklubben er enorm. Den har over 56 hull og over 100 caddies! Ja - du leser riktig. Klubben er vakker (se bilder) med store dammer og store buddhistiske tempeldører. Personalet er svært profesjonelt. To damer venter på ankomst for bagasjen din. 4. Tips din caddy tungt. De tjener ca 4000 RMB per måned. Gjennomsnittlig tips er vanligvis 100-150 RMB.  5. Nyt reisen - det tar omtrent en time fra Beijing by med bil - du får en flott utsikt over Kina på landsbygda.  6. Spill i april - juni. Vår. Cooler. Pluss du får plukket modne deilige nektariner n fersken som prikker hele kurset! Dette er min favoritt golfklubb i Kina (gitt, det er den eneste klubben jeg har spilt i Kina så langt!). Nyt. Jeg gjorde! ?

This is the second time I have gone to this golf club. Went for the AmCham and Japanese Cham golf tournament. Must say not impressed this year. Fairways were good. Greens were TERRIBLE. Weeds were growing on the greens. Some of the greens were dead. Only the greens near the clubhouse were good.

Beijing Country Golf Club has had mixed reviews, some good, others not so.

So- here is my unbiased opinion!

1hr from Beijing Central. This golf club is huge. It has over 56holes and over 100 caddies! Yes- u read correctly.

The club is beautiful (see photos) with large ponds and large Buddhist temple gates. The staff are highly professional. Two ladies await your arrival for your bag drop. You are then ushered into the golf club with well dressed and very welcoming receptionist await.

I hired a cart and caddy and had an awesome 18holes on D course. Beautiful course, lots of beautiful mature willow, pine and ash trees line the fairways. Several water hazards make it a challenge. Their signature par 3 14 is a monster. 250m with a water carry of 180m. Good luck.

Club hostess will provide a small wallet which has your locker number and the code to it’s digital lock.

After your game, have a shower. Any club that provides disposable shavers and toothbrush set gets my absolute tick of approval. This club does. Most Grade A clubs in Australia don’t.

After your shower, go upstairs to their massive Chinese restaurant. Have a bowl of their vegetable noodle soup. See photo. The only better soup I have had was made by my maternal grandmother. And she has long passed away.

I have been told this club can get very busy. My tee off was 6am ( sunrise in Beijing is 5am), and I counted 6other players in my entire 18holes.

I felt very special.

Handy tips-

1. Don’t bother with a golf cart- they are not allowed on the fairway.
2. Book early- this ensures a Beautiful and comfortable day ( going to be 38degrees later today) and you get the whole course to yourself
3. Have a shower and vegetable noodles. You won’t regret it.
4. Tip your caddy heavily. They earn about 4000RMB per month. Average tip is usually 100-150RMB.
5. Enjoy your journey- it takes about an hour from Beijing city by car- you get a great view of rural China.
6. Play in April-June. Spring. Cooler. Plus u get to pluck ripe delicious nectarines n peaches that dot the entire course!

This is my favourite golf club in China ( granted, its the only club I have played in China so far!).

Enjoy. I did!😎

Went with the BGC (Beijing Golf Club) not my favorite course in Beijing but well maintained and the price was reasonable for golf in Beijing!

I travel extensively for work and try to play golf in as many countries as possible, 12 so far including many times in China.

Today (July 27th, 2014) an Australian colleague and I played the new course for Beijing Country club Golf, nines A and E I believe. We had a great time! The nines we played were in great shape! Contrary to another review, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. This needs some explanation and a special thanks to joshj739!!!

On our way to the course we read the Trip Advisor reviews including the one from joshj739 who said to ask for Tiffany for the locals rate, not the walk up rate. There is a huge difference. The walk up rate is 938 RMB (about $150.00/not including cart) for the old course and 1650 RMB (about $265.00/including cart) for the new course. We mentioned this to the staff when we arrived and after a little convincing they called Tiffany and she quoted 650 RMB (about $110/without cart) for the old course and 980 RMB (about $165.00/with cart) for the new course. We took the new course.

The counter staff did not have to call Tiffany for us but they did. Not only did they call her, they let me talk to her! The counter staff, the caddies, and Tiffany could not have been more friendly and helpful throughout the process. Another thing that was impressive to us was that even though the course was in really great shape, there were not a bunch of people working on the course distracting play.

I would have given them 5 stars accept for the only complaint I have: I am left handed and have rent clubs while traveling as I am not going to haul them around on the off chance (I get to play about every 10th to 15th business trip) I will get to play. The rental clubs were awful. The grips had not been changed in literally years. All were dry rotted, a few to the point they were loose! They did replace those but then I had two different kinds of clubs. The right handed rentals for my colleague were Calloways and were very nice!

I would have no problem recommending Beijing Country Golf Club for anyone looking for a game.

I have to agree with the last two comments. I play this course all the time. I play on the old courses here and the new course as well. When you want to impress someone take them to the new course. When you don't care, go to the old course for a better value.

Tip: don't ever pay street rates. Call and ask for the marketing manager. Right now her name is Tiffany, she will hook you up with a better rate. Usually about 600 for the old course and about 900 for the new one.

We went courses A and E for a tournament. I can only say that the courses and the greens were in great shape. High and old trees, nice white bunkers, long and green fairways.

I've just by chance seen this review by J Lewis from June 2013.
The Australian named designer is Graham Marsh and I'm sure if Mr. Lewis played this course he would have far different opinions.
I live in Beijing and have played this course (all 54 holes) many times.
Anyone that lives in Beijing would not dream of playing any course on a weekend unless they are part of a golf society such as Beijing Golfer's Club or playing at reduced rate with a member, all courses in Beijing are expensive and at weekend the prices are horrendous.

Regarding the courses there, The Graham Marsh course is without doubt one of the best courses in Beijing, as as Mr. Lewis said there are many good courses here. The other 4 courses are as he described 'walking courses, not over challenging but not the worst you'll ever play and on weekday very reasonably to play (by Beijing standards).

To say that the staff there are local farmers and not to be approached is a disgraceful comment, the staff here have always been pleasant and courteous.

As a footnote, Beijing Country Golf Club has been known in Beijing for many years by the name "Farmers Golf Club", a bit of a coincidence that Mr. Lewis should say it's run by a bunch of Farmers.

For your information I am not a member of Beijing Country Golf Club.

A group of us went there for the luring name: Beijing Country Golf Club. We had the worst experience and in fact a nightmare there. First of all, the course is poorly designed and maintained. We do not know how it got an Australian designer's name on its "new course" vs its Chinese designed "old" one. The entire course feels like a large piece of farm land adding a few greens. It does not have hole numbers on any of its tee. Secondly, the facility is so distasteful and rundown it feels like a one star hotel in the middle of nowhere. Thirdly, it is outrageous in its fee charges to players -- be careful it frauds customers using its "old" course fee to lure customers in and double the price when you want to ride golf carts which the old course is only a walking course. Fourthly, if you dare to raise doubts in the outrageous mis-charge of fees, be careful, most of the staff are from local farms and you may put yourself into very dangerous situation... Our advice: stay away from this place. There are many good courses in Beijing. In fact we did not see anyone dining there on a Sunday lunch time; there was no foreigner or typical Beijing urban folk playing there the entire time we were there. It might not be too long for it to return to its rightful place: a piece of farm land in the outskirts of Beijing. Plus, please do not be lured by its name -- there is another golf course in Shunyi Beijing with a smaller name Beijing Golf Club which is a genuine one built by the Japanese in JV with the State Sports Administration and is designed by the Americans, and they only charge about half of the price.
