Amazing tour with Hader! She took me to some great sites and gave me lots of information of the history of the ancient Egyptian civilisation!
She took many great photos of me which was amazing, and made sure I was ok the whole day!

We saw a lot of main attractions, and I had options which was really nice,

The driver was really good too, so we didn’t have to walk too much in the heat.

I would definitely recommend taking the tour with Hader, I had a lot of fun!

Thanks again!

The whole experience was amazing, minus the super early start and late finish. The day is long and full on, but ultimately worthwhile. We decided to go to Luxor last minute and came across Sharm Excursions where we communicated with Mohammed who was quick and clear in his responses. He managed to arrange two last-minute tickets, sent a representative to our hotel to pick up the money and exchanged for our excursion vouchers. The morning of the tour we were picked up by a minibus which came to our hotel. The flight was early at 6:30 am but was less than an hour. On arrival to Luxor we were met by Mahmoud our tour guide who was super friendly, had impeccable English, and was extremely knowledgeable about Egyptology, which he had studied at university. We started at the Valley of the Kings followed by Hapshetsut’s temple. After this was a trip to an alabaster factory. Be aware the owners can be pushy with sales and if you do decide to buy try and haggle them down. We then had a tasty lunch which was all included in the trip cost. After lunch we had the option to add on some additional trips, a boat ride down the river Nile and a visit to Ramses III temple, which was a highlight of the trip, so if you get the chance to opt in for this then do it! The final stop of the day was to the Karnak Temple which was amazing! On the whole we had a fantastic experience and can’t thank Mahmoud enough for being such a great guide and fun guy. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Firstly, don't believe all the 5-star reviews, we chose Sharm Excursions based on them and it was a terrible day.
Based on them we also paid extra for the private guide (spoiler alert, was not worth it).

Long story short, felt like we weren't listened to, had a load of extra costs (which other tours include), and spent the day seeing our tour guide's friends rather than the sites.
In hindsight, I wish we were more sceptical of the reviews and went with someone else.

Further details on the day and some information on Cairo day-trips in general below:
Pre-Day]
> Saw from other reviews to get the Visa sticker when first landing in Sharm airport so it gets stamped on entry, we did that*.
> Day after landing, the Sharm Excursion (SE) rep came to our hotel to collect the rest of the money (cash only), told us our pick-up time, and gave us a slip/receipt.
He didn't have the blue sign as was stated on the email, so we were just standing there as this guy waved at us from a car until it became apparent no one else was coming.
> SE rep also recommended we ask our hotel for a breakfast bag the morning of (would thoroughly recommend it for whatever tour you go on).

Tour Day - Flights]
> Picked up 4:20 am from hotel, same guy and car as before (one of the seatbelts did not work).
* > Not confident, but looks like the other couple picked up with us didn't have the visa stickers but the driver had a roll of them so it didn't seem to be an issue.*
> Was given a print-out of our outbound & return flight details and was told to go to a check in desk to get the physical tickets, and that he'd pick us up when we got back.
> More guidance through the airport really should have been given by SE. So I've put some below…
In Sharm you go in, go through the first set of detectors (if there are multiple open, there will be separate male and female lines), go to the airline's desk to get the tickets, and then through a second set of detectors into the internal departure lounge.
In Cairo, go through the first set of detectors, get your tickets, there's a small duty free area and couple of cafes in the waiting area, second set of detectors is at the departure gate.
In the outbound lounge there are toilets and one small cafe in the lounge. Despite several early flights, there was sufficient seating.
In terms of liquid/water, security didn't seem to care about liquids in bags, but bring through at your own risk. 2x water bottles and 1x coffee at the airport cafe (outbound) was 190 EGP, everyone also got a small bottle on both flights for free.
Make sure you check the boards for your flight number rather than the time as ticket-board times didn't seem to quite match.
> We were sat together on the outbound flight - but not the return one - and had a window seat for both. The return night views were only good over the cities but the outbound views in the day/sunrise were very cool, definitely get a few pictures.
> We landed in Cairo about 7am (the return flight back got into Sharm at about 9pm). Regardless of which tour you take, pick up by guides in both Cairo and Sharm will be outside the airport.

Tour Day - The disappointing tour]
> Tour guide (TG) was waiting for us with a written sign and took us to the carpark where the car and a separate driver came and picked us up. The car was clean but you could smell cigarette smoke.
> The drive took about 1.5 hours. During it he gave us some facts about Cairo (new and ancient), but generally it was an awkward car ride.
> We weren't aware beforehand but as it was a private tour we got to pick the museum from the following: Antiquities/default, Grand Egyptian, can't remember option C.
We weren’t sure which one to go for so went with his recommendation. He took our phone for booking - was not a fan of this and found it unprofessional - it didn't work anyway so he used his phone in the end, and once booked told us it was $40 each… The lack of price information beforehand was a major con from TG.
> We got across Cairo in good time - by around 8:40 - so TG asked if we wanted to go to a cafe for coffee. We said no as we wanted to see the sights but he said nothing was open yet so took us to the cafe anyway.
Except it was a Shisha (smoking cafe). Absolutely hated it, the worst part of the day and quite frankly wanted to just give up on the tour then. We were there for a very miserable and uncomfortable 45 minutes whilst TG and driver had breakfast and a smoke.
Tried the coffee and it was bad, but at the very least we didn't have to pay for it.
> First official stop of the tour was the expensive museum. Very new and impressive We went to the Tutankhamun immersive experience whilst TG chatted to his mate, then TG walked through the only open section with us explaining a few pieces before allowing us to take some pictures and look around on our own. Good view of the pyramid and some interesting artefacts, but a lot wasn't open to the public yet. It was a lot of money for a museum we spent less than 2 hours in.
Will say, best toilets of the tour.
> Next stop was the Papyrus shop. Got a very brief talk on how they make the papyrus and then was hounded by the shop attendant. We were interested in getting one but they also sold them at our hotel, he took the price down a few times so we decided to go for it. Instant regret.
We got the ones where they write your names in hieroglyphics, except it wasn't hieroglyphics it was ugly cartoon versions instead. Didn't realise until after we left (due to distraction on my next point) but they didn't even do one of the letters and put a hash sign instead. $40. Total scam.
> What's worse is that whilst we were at the Papyrus shop waiting for it to be written, the owner of SE came up to us. He first introduced himself by trying to grab something from one of our bags and then saying he knew our names and number. He then said who he was and asked us if it was 4 or 5 stars experience. Overall it was a creepy and intimidating conversation.
> Next was lunch, it was pretty generic pizza in a pretty generic place. A bottle of water was free, other drinks cost but we didn't bother. Wouldn't recommend the toilets unless you're desperate.
> Finally to the pyramids. Entry was not included, basic entry was 540 EGP each. TG was probably best at being a guide here, he gave us some details on the 9 pyramids, took the quirky tourist photos, and also gave some practical advice (don't get out your wallet, hold tight your phone, DO NOT give your phone to anyone else to take photos, don't buy anything, etc). TG then said we had some free-time to explore so we wandered around the Great Pyramid without him.
The pyramids themselves are amazing, the people around them not so much. There were lot's of tourists and people trying to sell junk on the North side of the Great Pyramid. The East side had the queens’ pyramids and the people trying to coerce money via photos and phone-nabbing. South and West sides were a lot quieter.
We had the time at the end of the day and there was a lot more to see in this area so it was really disappointing we didn't spend longer here.
> After we'd done a lap, TG called the driver and we drove south to where the camels/viewpoints were. We had expressed an interest in the camel rides but were undecided, TG said he'd get it down to $17.50 each (amount on the website was apparently outdated or TG was actively scamming us) and it was something he'd highly recommend or we'd regret it, particularly for the views of all the pyramids. We asked how long it would take to walk instead and he said about 40 minutes.
In the end we went for it, instant regret and yet another scam whilst TG sat with his friends.
Sure the views were good, but genuinely nearly fell off a few times (particularly when the camels rose/sat down) and really had to hang on to not fall off. The camel guide - who we found out after paying was quite a young child - wasn't particularly good. It was also literally a 5 minute walk - so about a 15 minute experience overall. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.
> Next was the sphinx, but not really because we just looked at it from a distance. Quite the disappointment TG wouldn't take us closer.
> Afterwards was the perfume shop. The lady here was really nice, and gave a really good explanation about their oils. We got to try a few but from the offset had no intention to buy anything, she honestly had the best attitude when we said we didn't want anything.
[For those who may be interested it was $40 for 50ml].
> We had some time before we needed to head to the airport so TG offered to go to what he called a bazaar but was really a shop with lots of shiny things and no prices. We had a look around but we were clear from the offset we had no intention to buy anything, after that became apparent to the shop attendant he stopped hovering and we were just stuck waiting for TG to finish his chat.
[Out of curiosity, I asked how much a cheap magnet was. $5, expect to be ripped off here].
> We had asked a couple of times over the day about the boat tour on the Nile, but TG didn't answer or just ignored our question so can't comment on that experience.
> Then finally back to the airport at 4:45pm. TG jumped out pretty early en route with a quick goodbye. Driver dropped us off at the airport around 6pm, then it was a two hour wait for the flight back.

To summarise, we went through the itinerary on the website and ultimately got to see the Pyramids which is what you want. However, it really felt like everywhere we went and how long we spent there was dictated by TG and how much time he wanted to spend talking to his friends rather than giving us a great day. In addition, there were a lot of extra and/or unnecessarily high costs that just made the whole day feel like a scam.

I do wonder if the group tour would have been better, but overall it was really disappointing for what should have been a special and memorable day and I would not recommend Sharm Excursions to anyone.

This trip is an absolute must!!! I urge everyone who visits Egypt to visit Cairo. This tour company had surprised us all the way and Hend was a massive part of that. First of all we was privileged to have a private tour with her which was unexpected. She was a wealth of knowledge and welcomed us whole heartedly. We felt like royalties in her company. The Egyptian museum was incredible and Hend explained in detail of the stories around each artifact. We saw first hand how the papayas paper is made and how they make perfumes in Egypt. Then Hend done something spectacular and we had lunch on a rooftop overlooking the pyramids. This was my first time witnessing the pyramids and we was blown away. The lunch she picked out was top quality also just to mention. Then we went to the pyramids which in its own right is a once in a lifetime opportunity. This trip in itself was incredible. But Hend definitely made this trip soo special and we will cherish this trip for the rest of our lives. By far the best trip we've ever been on and thank you Hend for guiding us. The value of this trip with Sharm Excursions is definitely worth the money. And we was in constant communication with them via WhatsApp.

I took a 5-1 sharm_el_sheikh tour. I was really disappointed 😔. I thought we are going to visit real Bedouin tribe but it was really touristy. The food did not taste very good. It was supposed to show belly dance but they had a very boring with some guys. The price was quite expensive and to be honest it was not worth. The only positive thing that I have experienced was a tour guide named coconut. He was the best tour guide during my stay in Egypt.

(On a side note the entrance prices are not included for attractions so please bare this in mind when you put your money aside for the trip)

The trip to Cairo was amazing! The drivers do an amazing job and are very helpful and friendly. Our guide Hend was perfect, we were tight for time, so she tailored our day giving us all the information and spent just enough time at the attractions without it feeling rushed.

Also the organisation and communication by mohamed before hand was first class!

Thank you to everyone who made our day in Cairo so memorable.

Our tour guide Hend was AMAZING! She was so lovely and easy to talk to and joke with. We are so grateful for the knowledge she passed onto to us. Since I’ve been back home all I’ve said was how amazing it was to learn about Egyptian history in Egypt! And visiting one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, you really and truly cannot get better than that!!
