We have been attending productions at The Round House for several years. Recently we saw "Next to Normal" which was excellent as were all of those we've seen. Frequently we will plan a trip to DC around a play that looks interesting. The theater is a block off the Red Line which we take from Dupont Circle. We prefer matinee and enjoy a delightful light lunch at the bar before the play.

Drop Everything and see The Tempest. Teller (of Penn and Teller) is a co-director and there is constant magic in the show, besides the Shakespeare. Standing ovation!!
And.. grab a themed cocktail beforehand.
This show is not to be missed.

So happy to have the newly renovated Round House Theater back open. We have seen several excellent productions there - well acted, well directed, powerful dramas. The newly re-opened space is modern, warm and inviting. The staff there is wonderful - consistently helpful and lovely.

Having been away from this theatre for the past two years, wanted to see it post-renovation for “Curious Dog...”. As mentioned by others, seats now rival airline basic economy - although a bit more legroom. Real disappointment was the play itself, which played like an indifferent table read for the first act. Also disappointing to learn these ensemble actors would be back for more performances later in the year. Left at intermission and doubt we’ll be back.

We have been season tickets holders for several years and had looked forward to attending the Round House after the recent renovation. The lobby and restaurant area were very attractive, but the new seating in the theater was a major disappointment. The backs and seat cushions are extremely uncomfortable and more reminiscent of seating on budget airline. Even thought the presentation was good, the discomfort of the theater totally distracted us from enjoying the show. Several other attendees also remarked about the uncomfortable seating. This was very disappointing, since the majority of attendees to Round House are senior citizens; a group of people who are sensitive to discomfort to their less flexible bodies. I definitely would stay away from this uncomfortable theater.

We went for the current production of School Girls, but have been numerous times in the past and have never been disappointed. Following a major renovation lasting many months, the space is now much nicer.

I saw Gem of the Ocean for an evening performance. Very intimate and small theater experience. Don't think there is a bad seat in the house due to the small size. I loved the cast of the play and enjoyed finally seeing this particular part of August Wilson's long series of 20th century dramatizations. The staff was very polite. The parking lot across the street from the theater stayed open until the play ended which was actually technically after their closing time. It seems that the Theater worked out some sort of agreement with them to make this happen.

I have enjoyed plays at every theater in the area, and Round House continues to amaze me with the quality of its performances. Just fantastic.

The last time we saw a show at Roundhouse was when they revived Angels in America. This time we saw "How I Learned to Drive," Paula Vogel's 1997 Pulitzer winning play about a woman who endures sexual abuse at the hands of her uncle. If you're thinking #metoo, you're in for something of a surprise: Vogel isn't writing about the abusers; she's predominantly concerned with the voice and continuing experience of those who endured afterward; and she's showing the experience on both sides of the equation with all the subtleties and undertows of family life. The final scene, in which the young woman who's the central character starts her car in order to move ahead in her life and sees her now deceased uncle in the rearview mirror, is both creepy and trenchant (sort of like DJ Trump stalking HRC on the debate stage), but what a powerful moment. And what a sharp contrast in staging between the sumptuous and effects-filled Angels and the plain, but flexible How I Learned! Goes to show how intimate, expressive and lively the venue at Roundhouse truly is. And....they have the most convenient parking for any major theatrical site in the DC area. A lovely night of theater.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening when friends invited us to see “The Legend of Georgia McBride” at the Roundhouse Theatre. With about 400 seats, it’s hard to imagine a bad seat at the theatre, and the fully-equipped and modern stage does justice to Broadway productions, such as In the Heights and Angels in America. High quality productions, cozy, comfortable, convenient, and reasonable. Highly recommended.

Our show was excellent and the seats ideal – just a few rows from the stage. The production included a rotating stage with alternating sets, lights, and showers of confetti. Some of the acting was particularly good, the rest was very good. The seats were comfortable, and the sound system was first class.

The season normally includes six modern shows, and these season’s other shows were: “In The Heights” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes, “I'll Get You Back Again” by Sarah Gancher, “The Book of Will” by Lauren Gunderson, “Handbagged” by Moira Buffini, and "’Master Harold’ ...and the Boys” by Athol Fugard.

The location can’t be beat, just a block off Wisconsin Avenue, on East-West Highway, and there is ample public parking across the street. We didn’t have time before the show, which had no intermission, so we didn’t get a chance to check out the bar but, from the glance we were able to take on the way in, it seemed just about right. Can’t wait for the next season to begin!
