We had a wonderful experience at Heron Hill recently. Our tasting server was so friendly and knowledgeable, both about the wines and the area, and the view was just breathtaking. There were a good variety of wines with good, complex flavors and, though they are readily available near where we live, I still bought a bottle because I liked it so much. I would certainly return to this winery.

I was a solo traveler passing through last weekend and Michelle in the tasting room could not have been more friendly and helpful. She was knowledgeable about the wines and area. After tasting (you pick 5 off a list), I ate lunch in the bistro - a lovely patio overlooking Lake Keuka, and purchased several bottles in the shop. I liked the vibe here and wish I lived closer.

We arrived just as the large tasting room opened and we were fortunate to have a very knowledgeable server (I think his name is Terry) all to ourselves. We heard about the winery, it’s history and details of the grapes and the wines. The wines are delightful, especially the Cab Frank and of course the Reislings. The winery produces a wide variety of wines, many from their own vineyards. The view of Keyuka Lake from the tasting room is spectacular. There is an restaunt on site with nice outdoor seating and view of the lake. We hope to try it on a future visit. The parking lot was pretty empty while we were there but given the large overflow lot, the winery certainly gets very busy at times.

This winery is a fun place to visit. There is an excellent view of beautiful Keuka Lake from the tasting room and the cafe. And to top it off the wines are very good too

I've given 2 stars just because it truly is the most beautiful tasting room in the FLX. We visited here 7 years ago and loved it. A great experience at the time and very good wines. We even ordered a case after returning home.
Fast forward to today: we were not greeted when we entered the tasting room, even though they were not busy at all. Server had the most indifferent attitude and seemed to be doing us a favor by pouring our wine. He was definitely more interested in chatting with the other server than talking to customers. We did not care for any of the wines we tasted. I don't know if they've changed, or if our palates have matured. Unfortunately, the poor service didn't help the situation any.

Hello - thanks so much for the feedback and taking the time to review us and visit us again. We're terribly sorry your second visit wasn't like your first. This experience doesn't come close to our standards, and doesn't sound like our great and friendly staff at all. We are very well known for our inviting atmosphere and great tasting experience, so we feel terrible that you did not get that on your visit here.
It's unfortunate that our wines were not for you. We have and continue to make some of the best Rieslings and other cool-climate varietals. Maybe you did not try the wines that are more in line with what you currently prefer, and that's our fault. We always strive to help everyone figure out what their preferences are and guide them in the right direction. It saddens us that we felt short, and we would love to help make it right. If you would be willing to, please send us your home address and we would like to send you complimentary tasting coupons valid at any 3 Heron Hill locations.

Heron Hill has 3 locations: We visited the winery at Canadaigua Lake. First I am a beer person - I appreciate wine. We went my GF and 2 other "wine" couples.
The winery itself it very pretty and inviting. We went for the tasting: 5 samples for $5. How can you beat that?! It was a weekday afternoon and the there was a decent crowd already there. It was pretty chaotic at first and it took a while before anyone offered to assist us. Once things got organized the server assisted with the selections (there is a lot to choose from) and was very knowledgeable about the various wines.
They also sold beer (drafts and cans but 3 of 4 taps were empty) and a variety of local products (maple syrup, cheese, wine (obviously), Heron Hill SWAG, etc.
We enjoyed the visit and thought the wine was good. No real "WOW" factor for us. On our way out our server apologized for being disorganized and gave us each free tickets for another tasting. This was nice and very much appreciated.
Heron Hill wine tasting was a fun thing to do and although it sounds like the main location has a lot more gong on, I definitely recommend coming here.

We visited Heron Hill on Sunday afternoon for late lunch, wine, and live music. All 3 were great and the view and service were excellent, as well. Tried Eclipse rose and Gruner Veltliner and both were fruity, crisp and delicious. Opted for the cafe instead of tasting room, since we were hungry and the food was decent. Meat & cheese platter and the side pasta & pesto dish were both above average. Stilton cheese on the meat & cheese plate was a standout. There's live music Sunday afternoons and the duo playing were a welcome addition to the relaxed atmosphere. It was a gorgeous day and easy to get a table with a great view - even though it was near lunchtime. No reservations for parties under 6 at the cafe.

Heron Hill is an attractive property overlooking Lake Kekua. We took their 5 samples for $5 tasting with incredible views of the lake from the bar, that almost over shadowed the wine. Our pourer was very knowledgeable and the pours were generous. They have a small gift shop off the tasting area and we walked away with a Game Bird Red that was very good.
