Wonderful spot to take an easy paddle through a Cypress swamp. It took about 35 minutes to paddle myself along the well-marked route. The other option is to join a guided tour for $5. A great value.

Absolutely perfect. You can spend 1 hour to half a day. You can paddle yourself on a self guided tour but I recommend the guided tour. We had "Cowboy" as a guide. He was great with all of his knowledge. After the boat tour we walked the paths. So serene and got beautiful photos of nature. Best day in Charleston.

Visually, it was spectacular! The admission price was very reasonable and the extra $5 for a guided boat tour was an absolute deal.
The trail and the boat ride might be a bit slow for younger children… we did see just one snake and one gator….but they will love the mini zoo on premises.

Great experience! Take the self-guided boat tour if you are comfortable canoeing. The signs make it really easy to follow the "path" and gives you a great feeling being on your "own." Beautiful grounds to walk around as well.

I came here with my family for a few hours. We got in the little boat and paddled around the swamp and it was beautiful and peaceful. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by. We didn’t have a chance to see the rest of the park but will go back again.

This is a beautiful swamp with extraordinary numbers of Bald Cypress trees and a variety of wildlife, including alligators. Upon entering the grounds, you'll think it's smaller than it is. You can spend two or three hours walking the trails, which allow you to explore the scenery on your own with various points of intersection. These allow you to walk as many or as few trails as you like. The boat rides come in two choices - free access to a boat to row yourself around or a guided ride. We opted for the guided ride largely because we wanted to spend our time observing instead of rowing, That proved to be the best choice because, in addition to providing the manpower, our guide related the history of the gardens. He was knowledgeable and humorous. Beautiful flowers were everywhere. One tip - don't rely on Uber or other rideshares to get back to Charleston. We had difficulty getting a driver to accept our request. A cab agreed to come get us from Charleston for $100 and we would've had to wait forty-minutes after the gates closed. Finally, an Uber driver saved the day. Also, there are only vending machines so if you want a meal, bring it with you. Beautiful place for enjoy nature.

We spent 5 hours here. The entrance fee is totally worth every cent. We learned about this place through my neice. If I were a local, I would have a membership. Though we like to canoe, we chose to pay for the guided ride, and again, it was totally worth it. Though I know a lot about flora and fauna, I found the history part interesting, something I wouldn't have known with out the guided ride. In addition, guides usually know where the wildlife hangs out. That was true for our guide, Dickey. He went off the beaten path down a canal, and there was a huge alligator! He went off the beaten path again so we could further explore plant life. We pretty much walked every trail, including the outer loops, and walked some twice. The Swampariam is great as are the other buildings. We did miss the history room, so it would be worth returning to do it all again.

If you want to relive The Notebook scene when Noah and Allie were together in the boat, this is the place. We paddled the swamp and saw gators, turtles, and snakes. The trails are fun to do as well.

Its a walking vidit so get ready. Not lying but wslkibg or boating is the call. Excellent Swamp Zoo, mas or menos Butterfly Building but Feb. Is probably too early for butterflies; sculptures around; gift shop needs a shot in the arms: badges, pins depicting the park would be nice, postcards...
Azaleas popping out, white coral bells, I believe, still early first Spring growth in Feb.
2 half topped Cypress trees serve as entrance, a bit negative...
Boats to rent, great playground; wedding gazebo, bridges!!!!!

This was a really nice place to visit! The employees and volunteers were wonderful. The man in the Butterfly House was extremely knowledgeable and kind. The bird ride was extremely enjoyable!!!

How long does it take to tour this place? How long is the boat ride? Longer than 3 hours?

The boat ride if you choose to select a guided tour is 45 minutes. You do have the option to take yourself out in the boat as well, I would assume it would take 45 mins or less. I would say it could take about 2 hours max if you do the guided tour, walk around some and see the butterflies. We got there at 2pm and left at 4:30.
Hi! I was wondering what I should wear? I want to get some cute photos on the boat but I also want to be dressed appropriate for the walking trials! Any advice is appreciated! Thank you :)

Best advice I can give is check the weather forecast for the day. We had a lovely day last week and would not have needed any jacket for the trails. Always good to have a light weight jacket with you.

I would like to visit this place, but should I be worried about being bit by wildlife if I don't see them? Especially snakes. Stupid question, but just in case. Not like I'm going to try to get close.

My son saw one on our trip
But it was quickly going off into the woods. And we had 3 small children with us.

I'm planning a trip to Charleston in October. Does anyone know if it will be open? Also, is this wheelchair accessible?

Hi Melissa. I don't know if it's still closed or not. I suggest you try to give them a call. See if the number is on the Trip Advisor site. If not, Google Cypress Gardens. You may have to search Cypress Gardens Charleston. We were told by locals that the park suffered extensive damage dye to the storm.

Hi, SALLYCAT8166. What would you like to know about this attraction? Has this attraction reopened. I know it was closed at one time due to flood damage?

How does Cypress Gardens compare to the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston? Since I can only choose one tour, I was wondering which is more enjoyable for our family with 2 young girls ages 5 and 6.

No. I was there today and the signs indicated closed until further notice due to extensive flooding. But the website says that thanks to donations for repairs that they may be reopening.

I see that Cyress Gardens is closed due to the terrible flood last year. Will you be reopening this year?
