We stayed at Zimbali Resort and this was a recommended tour. We loved meeting Fyre! He has great energy and immediately put us in a good mood. During the hike we got coconuts which he cut open for us upon arriving to his mountain home. He’s a wonderful host and our lunch is probably one of the freshest we’ve ever had. Thank you to Fyre for an unforgettable experience.

I’m very glad we did this. Very memorable and beautiful. Both the hiking guide and the Rasta gentleman couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. However I do think as a tour it was overpriced. You must pay an additional $20 for transportation and ours was NOT air conditioned, and involved a lot of driving back and forth to pick up and drop off others. There was also no bottled water offered, luckily we had some.

Zimbaliretreats
The 20$ transport price to go 30-40 minutes outside Negril is an incredible price. That is strictly the drivers price and is very very fair. Jamaica's gas price is 5X that of the US, not to mention car parts. In 1000's of reviews you are the first person to say this.
Also- We do not use bottled water as we offer natural spring water and stay away from the plastics. You stopped at the natural spring on the tour, had a welcome juice and could have filled you bottle when coming back down from the tour- what did you need a plastic bottle for again?
Good to have you, but don't agree...

Our Guide Cosmo was nice he was super attentive. He gave us great info on the types of fruits/plants/trees along the hike. If any of us got tired on the hike he never had a problem with stopping for rest! When we got to Zimbali it was a vibe! He was super cool and gave wise words and put lots of love in a vegan meal. my most cherished experience. would recommend!

Wir haben gecancelt bevor wir gegangen sind … wir hatten telefonisch eine Nachfrage das war schon zu viel verlangt … wir wurden unhöflich behandelt und beleidigt anstatt und zu helfen haben sie gesagt wir sollten dich liner garnicht erst kommen unsre frage war. Wir wollten bloß wissen wo der Treffpunkt ist . Mehr nicht. Als wir dann gecancelt haben kam noch eine Nachricjt das see Tourguides froh wäre uns nicht sehen zu müssen! Alles in allem also KEINE EMPFEHLUNG ! Schade wir hatten uns sehr gefreut

Took this tour completely unprepared for what it entailed. Booked it on a whim from the description on our hotel's website which suggests comfortable clothing and walking shoes. That was the bare minimum you should have for this intense 90-minute forest hike uphill on slippery slopes. It is definitely not for those who are not used to such terrain or physical activity. The mosquitoes will chew you alive if you don't use repellant or wear long pants and sleeves. Unfortunately, we did neither and paid the price with several bites and itchy skin days after. Was really interested in learning more about Rasta culture and spirituality on this tour but unfortunately, we didn't learn much at all. Fiyah was very hospitable and the meal prepared was good but we didn't learn as much about Rasta history, culture, and spirituality as we hoped for. The guide Buju was great at pointing out vegetation and plants along the way and let us try the natural spring water he collected.
Tip: Cover yourself and/or use mosquito repellant and wear good hiking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Bring water for the hike.

Good Day,
Let this review be the reason you come on this tour- It is REAL! Your will actually hike in a real forest and there may even be mosquitos- I find more mosquitos hiking in a forest in Illinois, but that's just me.
This is the Rainy Season in the tropics and we do get rain which brings mud sometimes, but that the point, its real experience in a real tropical jungle.
In order to learn of Rastafari it is only to ask and to speak and to reason with Fiyah while he cooks and searches food. Fiyah loves to reason on Rastafari and Spirituality, but he waits on people to approach as some people just like to come and enjoy the silence and the beauty and he doesn't encroach on that.
The hike is about 30 minutes each way. It might have been slower going for Abby, but it is lovely and to stop and drink from the spring is a Spiritual experience in itself.
Hope to see all those interested in a real experience soon ;)

It's is an experience... the smell of the house is ok until you walk on the tour you have to pass the kitchen and walk down steps to get to the farm area. My mom had to take off her head scarf to cover her nose to walk past.. it smell like dogs have never been washed brushed or anything. Bring a mask. Bring 💧
Chef did not interact with guest very rude & only interacting to the 4 seats in front of her.
You can not hear hear over the fans blowing.. she will give the history of the food but won't tell you anything else after the salad is prepared or when the dish is already completed. Dont you dare ask ... you will get a stear and a rude response as if you aren't supposed
to ask whats in this dish. please get her a mic for the people in the back. Cool Concepts But Needs work.. The price will change at the end .. . Booked at $59 Left paying over $220...
Money isnt the problem but when traveling dont switch up because our money is in the hitel safe... we bring exact and a little change to tip....I did ask why the price change ... Chef Response was " did this feel like a 59$ experience..... um no Comment .... ... I didnt Come to Argue. Especially in the jungle
Taxi for 2 was included for $20/ PER PERSON. Everybody Else Was nice. I wouldn't go back or recommend.
The ride back to the hotel was interesting we weren't the only ones that felt this way.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants an authentic experience with local rastas. Buju was our tour guide up the mountain to Fiyah’s place where we got to try rastas cuisine and see their way of life. Buju showed us local fruits, wild plants, and natural spring water throughout our hike. Fiyah’s adorable and intelligent dog, Esther, also joined us on the hike!
When we got to the top, we met a very pleasant young man who was helping Fiyah. He was very welcoming and informative about rastas culture and beliefs. Fiyah also cooked a rasta meal for us - everything was organic and made from his own crops.

The Rasta tour is not to be missed if you visit Zimbali Retreats and the Canaan Mt.!The hike up to Fiyah's is an up-close walk in the jungle!!Fiyah will gladly point out many sights along the way!Upon reaching his house (at the top of a mountain!!)you will have incredible views all the way to the ocean.Soon you will be drinking a fresh juice and a tasty pot prepared with love!Fiyah is a fascinating person who welcomes everyone!!He just might change your life!!

Bring your own bottled water. It's says included, but literally it was an empty gallon bottle that your guide filled up at a local spring and we all drank from it bc we were scorched and didn't bring our water(thought we'd be getting individual bottled waters). Also, mosquitoes are vicious. Guide told to rub together lemongrass from plant on side of the road and apply. Directions weren't clear. We tried that, but no one told us not to literally rub the plant on our arms. Now we have what looks like cat scratches all over our arms. Guide saw us do it three different times, but never advised against it or clarified. We are not familiar with outdoor plants or hiking , especially when it's blazing hot, sweat pouring everywhere and tons of mosquito flying around our bodies. Mark might scar, even tho we didn't Rob that hard?? I think now that guide might have meant to rub the leaves together in hands, then pat hands to area where mosquitos are to apply? Anyhow, lesson learned. LEAVE THE LEMONGRASS alone!
Anyhow, despite the downfalls, I would still recommend this tour. Good to see do something not so touristy. Our small group of 3 liked the trip, food and relaxation once we got to the top of the mountain. It is definitely longer than 2 hours and extremely STRENUOUS and HOT in summer months. Come prepared and you'll do better than us. Also, should be in shape, since not everyone who stars the hike finishes. It's a tough one...
Anyhow, despite the downfalls, I would still recommend this tour. Good to see do something not so touristy. Our small group of 3 liked the trip, food and relaxation once we got to the top of the mountain. It is definitely longer than 2 hours and extremely STRENUOUS and HOT in summer months. Ras Fire was a delight. He stopped to show us a variety of herbs and fruits along the trail. Lassie is a darling canine who even in her age interacted with us along the way. From his perch high on Canaan Mountain you can see the plains-a magnificent site. Fresh water from the nearby stream was very refreshing. The lunch made by Fire was beyond superb. Who knew that papaya stems make awesome drinking straws?!?! This experience was worth the hike up. It was also quicker going down.
