Great Atmosphere even without the wildlife.

We had a great time during our recent Puffin & Whale watching trip.
The crew really made it a fun filled and happy occasion, and being Irish we knew and were able to join in most of the singing.
Great atmosphere, great trip. Not so much the weather, but you take it as you find it.
We look forward to being able to do it all again.

Beautiful day trip, with lots of puffins.
Beautiful day and great experience. Did this while on a cruise. I met them at a hotel right outside the cruise terminal. Simple pick up and off to their boat. We had excellent weather and interesting commentary. Saw one whale feeding and thousands of puffins. Beautiful scenery and several lovely songs from the area. All in all a great day

It was a very positive experience, We all enjoyed the ability to see the various birds including puffins, listen to all the information. Also 3 of our party were Screeched in on the excursion and it was definitely a highlight since you added your own twist to it. Thank you for a wonderful memory

A wonderful experience!

Highly recommend Gatherall's. From the time we entered the shop to check in, we were greeted with warmth. Their shop was not your tacky souvenir shop but filled with quality art and items. The bathrooms on shore were clean and cared for and the boat was well maintained and comfortable. Skipper Al was entertaining and skilled and guide Liam was filled with info and even sang us some traditional songs without accompaniment or music. Liam has an excellent voice and this was an unexpected treat! Oh and we saw plenty of puffins busy flying and fishing to feed their young and also managed to see a minke whale even though it was at the end of the whale season. Thank you!

Fast and easy communication with the staff, and prompt pick up at the location advised. We did this tour while visiting St John’s on a cruise. Pick up location a short 4 min walk from the dock. We did not see whales, but because of the time of year being past the season when they are there, we were not expecting to see them. We had a fun ride out to see the puffins and other sea birds. Staff on the boat was very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and most important they were very safety minded. They even sang traditional Irish songs for us which was fun. The ride from the pick up location to the boat took about 30 minutes on a school bus. The bus driver was a safe driver. There is a large gift shop and restrooms where you board the boat and time to stop at both before and after the boat ride. The boat ride is an hour and a half and staff points out a lot or interesting things and seabirds along the way. We were also very lucky to see two sunfish and the boat got as close to them as they safely could, and made sure everyone onboard got to see them. Saw a lot of puffins flying around the boat and in the water. Be sure to have a camera with a good and stable zoom if you want good pictures of the birds. Beautiful scenery in the surrounding area. Would highly recommend this tour and will do it again if we are ever back in the area.

Fun for couples, friends and families
We booked the tour as a shore excursion for our cruise stop. It was easy to find the Alt hotel, which is the pickup location...a short walk from the ship. Pickup shuttle was on time and our driver Chris answered all questions and pointed out areas of interest along the way. The shuttle service is perfect for those without a rental car.
We saw loads of puffins and sea birds...and even a few minke whales. The day was sunny, the crew were fun and engaging. As a Canadian from Ontario visiting Newfoundland for the first time, this was the highlight of our cruise!!

Puffin and Whale Watching
Such a fun and friendly atmosphere. The boat felt solid and comfortable too. Bathrooms were very clean. Saw a lot of puffins; no whales due to the time of year but the singing, jokes and explanations made up for that. Thank you!

Puffins! Puffins! Puffins!

We couldn't have asked for anything more with our experience. We were so excited to go on this Puffin cruise and it did not disappoint. Not only did we get to see so many puffins - the crew was top notch. From hearing stories, history, songs and jokes - it helped elevate our time spent here. And to top it off, we were able to see a rescued puffin released back into the water. Truly fantastic. The water can be choppy at times - and the staff is ready to assist with haste should any passenger decide to "feed the fish". Highly recommended!
