I enjoyed going around the mix of Cambridge center and then out to the American cemetery. The bus ran to time and driver was very helpful. However the bus itself was very rattly and together with the poor surface of the roads made for a bumpy ride. The headphone system did not seem to work but the commentary was relayed over the load speaker - too loud but might still have been difficult to hear if a noisy crowd on board.

The tour itself was very interesting and informative, the complete circular tour takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, with lots of interesting facts about the colleges and Cambridge itself.
However, there were some issues with the service itself. The timetables on the bus stops gave times as minutes past the hour, however, the digital displays at the stops gave different times to these, which were a longer wait, and kept going back. It also started to show (in true bus fashion!) two buses were going to arrive at the same time.
When they finally arrived together, due to the number of people who had gathered at the stop (it was a rainy day so most needed to go undercover), we boarded the second bus, and the driver told us the buses needed to be spaced, and there would be a delay before proceeding. As it was, the delay was not very long, fortunately. I know that Cambridge can be congested with traffic, but I would have thought this would affect all buses equally.
The recorded commentary was in English, but I understand other languages are available; there were fittings for headphones which maybe for this.
Finally-whilst not directly the fault of the operator- a family boarded with smelly hot food which was somewhat off putting, maybe a notice is needed to say that hot food is prohibited ?

Been on tours before on other cities, on this one was not offered headphones, instead they just had the tour playing in English over the speakers, prefer the headphone optiion personally. Couldn't see too much as most of the sights covered by trees, also if sitting on the top on the left hand side beware of low lying branches was looking at something on the right side and when turned back got smacked in the head lol, maybe a wee warning wouldn't go a miss. Not very frequent.

OK, the tour is OK, and the driver friendly, but... It's shambolic. The information on Trip Advisor clearly states the service is 24-hour hop-on, hop-off. It's not. The tour operates fully between 10am and 5pm. So, when I arrived at 6.40 to find there were no busses, after a half an hour walk I wasn't pleased. The Trip Advisor info clearly states that the first stop is at the train station. It isn't. It's on Silver Street. And you can only use your mobile ticket if you get on there. Otherwise you have to have a paper voucher to board - which you get from Silver Street. Not from an office, from the bus. I saw another review recently complaining about the poor information provided by this company and the response was, frankly, insulting. So I don't expect much from this complaint. But I do expect expect information that is true - both from the company involved and from Trip Advisor. Poor show all round.

We had friends visiting from abroad (were a party of 6) and decided to take them to Cambridge, with the intention of using the City bus tour to give them a good view of the City.
We also had a disabled person in the group. With redued mobility, so the Bus Tour would have been perfect.
Went on the website beforehand, to check prices and if there was a service on Sunday 30th June. There was no indication on the website that services were not running and you could buy tickets online, but we decided to buy the tickets on the Bus instead.
We arrived in Cambridge from London and waited at the Bus Tour stop across the road from the station.
The countdown was indicating buses were running. We became suspicious after buses that were meant to arrive, were not.
Then I noticed a small piece of paper saying that buses were not running from that stop. It did not say that the entire service was not running.
So we assumed it was only that Bus Stop, so we got a public bus into town. Hoping to go to another stop to catch the Tour Bus.
Once we reached the City Centre we asked the public bus driver whether the Bus Tours are still operating. He said they were stopped during the morning for the Cambridge 5k Race For Life and they would resume at 14.00 and told us where the nearest Bus Tour stop was.
So we went to the stop and waited. After a while I asked another public bus driver and he radioed his depot to ask and they said it should be resuming soon.
We waited again. Still no bus showed up. So I called the contact number for the Bus Tour company and spoke with their customer support who then said they would contact the depot. They then said the bus tours would resume at 14.30.
I ended the call. But then called back to ask exactly the time that the bus would pass the stop we were waiting at. They said the bus should take no more than 1-2mins to reach us once the service started at 14.30.
We were also joined by a couple who had already bought tickets via the website and were also confused. I passed on what I had been told and that the service would be resumed soon.
So we waited again. 14.32 passed no bus. We waited for 20mins longer. Still no bus.
I called the Bus Tour customer support and then they said that they were sorry and that they decided to not operate the Bus Tour on that day.
Wasting 3 hours of our time!
And disgracefully, they had made our disabled friend stand for at least 1.5hrs.
Complete shambles of a company!
How hard is it to put on your website that there is no seevice for the day! And to put on your Bus stops that there is no service for the day!
And why were they still offering the ability to buy tickets online for a non-existent service.
Absolutely Terrible service and as a company they did not even know what was going on!

Great overview of the city in a very comfortable setting. Drivers were courteous and drove well, not all stressed out. I appreciated the stop at the American Memorial, very beautiful setting and a bit far to wander on foot.

What a wonderful experience. Well worth doing if going for a long week-end. Loved the history of the place and it is such a beautiful city. Would thoroughly recommend.

Have lived in the city for 20 years and never been on the Hop-On-Hop-Off-Bus. My 12 year old niece was visiting from the USA so we took the bus and had a great day out around the city. She loved sitting on the top deck seeing the city from a height, trying to dip under the leaves of the trees flying over our heads and watching students in their graduation gear. Stopped off to climb Great St Mary's Tower, eat ice-cream, see the Egyptian collection (and the mummy) at the Fitzwilliam museum, have tea at a local cafe, visit the American cemetery. We missed out the lovely Botanic Garden as been there before. The great thing about the ticket is it lasts 24 hours so also used it the following morning to get us to the railway station for a train to London - a huge thanks to Amu (maybe Amo?) our driver who was so kind and helpful with our bag and set our day off to a lovely start.

Having arrived at Cambridge station I was pleased to find out that the tour bus stops nearby (down the road to your left as you exit the front of the station) because the station is a mile and a half from the city centre, which saves a long walk if you don't know where you are going. We (me and my pensioner aged Mum) waited at the bus stop which said the buses were every 20 minutes. We waited longer than that though, so don't set much store by the timetable, as it seems to be rather erratic. It is however a very handy way to see the city, including the American Cemetery which is on the outskirts, so is a good way to get out there. We did one full round trip in order to decide the best place to get off to explore the city centre on foot. The ticket for an adult costs £17 and a concession is £14, but it lasts 24 hours from the time of purchase and you can hop on and off as much as you like, and it also gets you a discount on other buses operated by the company in other cities (London, Edinburgh, York and Bath are a few examples) and also gets you discounts at attractions in the city, although personally I didn't take advantage of that particular offer. If you have limited time, or are on a first time visit it's a good way to familiarise yourself with the city

An excellent way to get your bearings around a new city. The tour was informative and aimed at about the right level.
One improvement could be to extend the ticket length from 24 to 48 hours to allow people to put their new found knowledge to use. This may require a price increase but would be worth it.

I paid for a family ticket with PayPal through Trip Advisor. I have a PayPal receipt & the money has left my account but I have no confirmation email or link for downloading/printing tickets. Please advise as to how I can access our tickets? Our trip is in two weeks.

the pickup point was at a bus stop right across the street from Cambridge Station. if you come out of the station, cross the street and go left. The logo was on the bus stop sign.

Pick up a leaflet from tourist information. Yes it includes American War Memorial. You can get off there and get on later.
