Outstanding! Our tour guide and his horse were so nice and friendly. The Gap of Dunloe has scenery that reminds you of a wonderful painting. It's just beautiful. Seeing it quiet and calm with a horse made it so special. I highly recommend this experience.

Took my wife and 2 kids (17 and 24 yrs old). We took the boat ride from Killarney at Ross Castle and picked up the horses half way at Lord Brandon’s cottage. It was a beautiful day. Cathal was our guide on the boat. He was great, very knowledgeable. Very friendly. Was the most beautiful ride through the lakes and the mountains. One of the most beautiful sceneries. Patrick picked us up at the cottage and we did the horse buggy ride down. My wife recently fractured her foot and they were so attentive to make sure she was okay and comfortable. Amazing scenery, some of the most beautiful sights. Would highly recommend this to any one of any age!!

The Gap of Dunloe Adventure Day Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. It was a wonderful way to see the Lakes of Killarney, the Black Valley and the beautiful mountains. Our tour started at the wooden bridge near Ross Castle where we met a tour representative. The bridge is located next to a parking lot with ample free parking. The first part of the adventure was a boat trip through one of the lakes of Killarney. The boatman was knowledgeable and humorous. At the end of that lake we met another tour representative who directed us on a brief hike to meet the boat for the next part of the tour. It was nice to have the opportunity to stretch our legs and see another part of Killarney National Park. After another scenic boat ride we had a lunch break at Lord Brandon's cottage, We enjoyed our sandwiches and sodas= cash only. A tour representative directed us to our pony and trap jaunting cart. It was a fun and unique experience with beautiful views the whole way. A tour representative met us at Kate Kearney;s cottage and drove us back to Ross Castle in a mini van.
I was very pleased with the customer service provided by Tangney Tours/ Killarney Jaunting Cars. The tour was seamless. There was always a tour representative near when you needed to be directed to the next step of the tour. I chose this tour because it was all inclusive and the tour brought you back to where your car was parked. Highly recommend this tour and the company.

Everyone in our group of 5 (3 adults, 2 kids) agreed that this was the BEST activity we did in our entire 10 day trip to Ireland. It really is an adventure! However, we started out on a sunny day, and naively did not bring our raincoats. Of course, when we were out on the water in the boat it started raining ... a lot!... and we got pretty soaked, which was the only negative part. (Read: Bring a raincoat no matter what your weather app says!). But in many ways the rain added to the fun and adventure of it all! At one point the water was too low for the boat to get through, so we had to get out and walk a little bit down river, which we enjoyed, as it was a nice little hike. We then stopped at Lord Brandon's Cottage, and we were very glad to have listened to the Trip Advisor reviews that told us to BRING CASH, as they cannot get wifi in that location to take cards. We all got the soup with soda bread, which was truly delicious, especially on a rainy day! My husband got an Irish Coffee as well, which he loved.
From there we took the pony and trap ride through the Gap of Dunloe. We were laughing the whole way in the rain and gasping at the gorgeous views. Even in the rain, it was spectacularly beautiful. The pony went fast and the ride was bumpy, which made it feel like a roller coaster of sorts as we went up and down the hills, which my kids LOVED. It was much more dynamic than a regular horse and carriage ride. All the guides were great and gave us lots of interesting information and history throughout. HIGHLY RECOMMEND - just bring a raincoat!

I opted for the full day Gap of Dunloe Adventure Tour.
Laura, the fifth generation owner of the company, met the group at Ross Castle and provided an overview of what to expect on the tour. From there, a taxi took us to Kate Kearney’s Cottage, where our jarvey Tom and his horse Rosie took us by jaunting car over The Gap of Dunloe. We had to get off the jaunting car a couple of times during the steep incline sections to give Rosie a break. This was fine because it made it easier to take pictures of the beautiful scenery.
When we finished crossing the gap and arrived at Lord Brandon’s Cottage, we took a lunch break. If you take this tour, remember to bring cash because they don’t accept credit cards at the cottage.
After lunch, we started the second part of our tour, a trip across all three Killarney Lakes aboard a small open boat to enjoy more glorious scenery. We also saw deer on shore along the way. Our guide—unfortunately, I don’t recall his name—regaled us with information about the lakes and entertaining stories laced with humor and a generous amount of Killarney blarney. At one point, we had to exit the boat and walk across a forest path to meet our guide at a later point because a portion of the lake was to shallow to ride across with passengers. We then get back on board the boat and finished the trip, which ended at the Ross Castle pier.
This is a wonderful way to see the best of Killarney scenery from two different vantage points. I highly recommend it, though, as the company website says, it’s not for anyone with mobility issues.

The views that one gets from the jaunting cart tour of Dunloe Gap & the Black Valley as well as the open boat tour of the lakes of Killarney were amazing. The tour organizer was very good about transporting us to the jaunting carts and making sure we got off on time. The tour guides were full of information about the area. The views were stunning!
The downside was that we had prebooked the tour on a specific date which was a day of lashing rain and wind. We thought we were prepared with our rain gear but it was not a match for the wind and rain. Both the jaunting cart and the boat were open/unsheltered against the elements, thus we were soaking wet and very cold. Both the cart & boat operators provided heavy tarps to pull across our laps to protect backpacks, etc. but we were fully exposed from the waist up. About 1/2 way through the 7 mile gap trek, the driver stopped the cart and asked passengers to get out and walk (up steep inclines on a narrow road) for about 1/2 mile to give the horse a rest. There were 4 people in the cart total. I was allowed to stay in the cart due to a bad knee but the other 3 had to walk. One woman became very winded and asked to get back into the cart (which the driver kindly allowed) but the others had to continue to walk up the mountain. This occurred twice. We were not aware that passengers would be asked to get out and walk up the mountain for that distance when we booked the tour. The passengers in our cart were all over 62 years old. I want to emphasize the driver was very kind and went out of his way to meet our needs, including taking the cart all the way up a hill to the outdoor (but sheltered) lunch venue so we wouldn't have to walk. Although weather cannot be controlled, it would have been helpful to have this information specifically detailed so that consumers could make an informed decision.
At the end of the 1 hour and 1/2
The trip across the lake in the open boat was also in the lashing rain and wind. The boat operator was very knowledgeable about the area and we probably would have appreciated it a lot more if it was better weather and the waters were not so rough/choppy.
In closing, I would recommend the tour. The Gap of Dunloe is absolutely breathtaking. One of the most scenic areas in all of Ireland. The boat trip across the lakes offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. However, if the weather is going to be nasty, you might want to postpone or see if it's possible to switch to another day if your schedule allows. Also consider the type and amount of walking required on this tour and evaluate if it is the right tour for you.

The day of our tour, I unfortunately was having trouble navigating the streets and ran a bit late. One of the owners contacted me to make sure that I was OK. She then went a step further, and met us personally, and drove us to where we were supposed to be so going above and beyond the call of duty. She was very friendly, and gave us information about the town and the tour as we drove. Once at the meeting point, we met our driver for the day the horses were well taken care of, and the driver was fond of the horse apparently. The gap of dunloe was beautiful. The boat ride was awesome as well. We enjoyed every bit of the trip.

I loved the trip. Even though there was a strong mist, it was a wonderful experience. The trip consisted of a carriage ride, and then onto a boat ride. The carriage was particularly amazing. It was an adventure from times' past. I hope the tour companies always keep it this way. No roof over your head; with both parts, it is you and the beautiful outdoors. CASH ALERT: In the break between the two events, you stop at a food/drink concession stand that only takes cash. I didn't have enough cash for food and for gratuities for both the horseman and the captain. I felt bad that both didn't get a tip.

Worthy of your time! This tour was the highlight of our recent vacation to Ireland. The Gap of Dunloe is one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. The tour was well done, we had different guides for the horse carriage part and the boat part -- they could not have been more opposite but were both amusing and informative in their own ways.

This is by far the best and most experienced company to book when touring the Gap, the National Park, etc. by jaunting cart. The service, knowledge, jarveys (drivers) all combine to make an exceptional day in Killarney! This tour is always the best part of a trip to Killarney. Fifth generation family business says it all! Thanks to the whole team, including Patrick and Liam.

What do you get for the day tour that costs $45.00 compared to the day tour that costs $80.00?
Skrevet 5. mai 2019
Hi there. Wanting to book a family of 4 for this incredible experience. Does the carriage hold more than 4? Not sure what the Passenger 4 with the "+" means. 4 Passengers also appears to be cheaper per person than the 2 and 3 passengers. Thank you

What time does this tour get back, we were wanting to tour the Ross Castle afterwards and wanted time to do that.
