Absolutely an amazing experience. I would use this guise again and again. Just the right amount of history facts, story, personal anecdotes and humor throughout. The guide read the mood of the group and gave us all exactly what we needed throughout the day. Thank you, thank you.

Normandy Private Trip: Guide: Jozef Prihoda (wife and business manager Deborah Saulnier).
We (2 couples in our mid 70s) did a two-day private tour with Jozef in June 2023 with pick up in Paris, overnight in Bayeux, and then drop off back in Paris. Jozef was TERRIFIC!! He has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of D-Day and how the invasion of Normandy enfolded on sea, in the air and on the land. He was able to explain both the allied and German strategies and brought us to sights that brough his explanations to life. He also regaled us with endless stories that were at time poignant and sad and at other times comic. The weather for the two days was mainly cold, windy, and rainy. Jozef remained flexible and was able to adapt which sight we saw when to minimize standing in the cold rain. Deborah recommended a wonderful hotel (Villa Lara) and booked an incredible delicious dinner for us at a gem of a restaurant (La Rapiere) for our one night in Bayeux. The tour was all Jozef and he was great!! Our collective opinion is that if you want a guided tour of Normandy, you could not do any better.

We did a 10 day tour with Jozef and it was PERFECTION! I had an idea of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go but there were so many places I didn't even know existed that Jozef shared with us! This is what made the trip five stars for me. We started in Paris, headed to Fountainbleu and Chartres. From there we went to St. Malo stopping in Le Mans along the way which was a wonderful experience! From there, we spent a night on Mont St. Michel before heading to Bayeux and Rouen and experiencing some of the most memorable places of our lives including Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery and many key places that were turning points in WWII. Without Jozef, we never would have known about nor seen these remote places or had these experiences. We are so grateful for his knowledge and passion for his tours. We have never experienced that level of commitment from a tour guide and I doubt we ever will again, as he was exemplary in every way. I would be remiss not to mention Giverny. Strolling the gardens was a truly memorable part of our trip. I would recommend not missing this as it is fantastic in every way. We finished our trip in the Champagne region spending 3 days touring the cellars, tasting champagne and eating delicious food all recommended by Jozef. This trip was first class thanks to him. Spending 10 days with someone you don't know can be difficult. We take several long trips every year and have not always had these excellent experiences with our guides. We got so lucky with Jozef. There were 4 of us (two couples) and we still, several weeks later keep telling each other how much we miss him. We will be signing up for many more trips with Jozef in the future and cannot wait to see him again. As we said, Jozef started off as our guide, turned into our friend and ended up as our family. Thank you Jozef for one of the best trips of our lives!

I doubt that one can experience a better tour of France than the one that we enjoyed, even if one’s interests are as diverse as bubbly champagne and military campaigns. Josef guided us through the Paris area, through Rennes, Versailles, Chartres, Mt. Saint Michel, throughout Normandy. He treated our family (especially my wheelchair-bound elderly mother), like royalty. He enthusiastically went through our lengthy once-in-a-lifetime trip-to-France bucket list of things to do. We learned to “enjoy” champagne “properly”, which was a true eyeopener and a rare delight; an unfortunate by-product of our learning is that we now imbibe simple soft drinks with the insufferable discernment of a discredited sommelier. Our trip to Honfleur magically brought to life the Monet paintings that we so treasured. Josef quickly picked up that our mother was the focus of this voyage, and he spared no expense or effort to cater to her every whim and comfort. For example, he sought out religious sites that she craved to visit that were not on the itinerary. And, when Josef ventured into military history, which is his passion, the tour became magical. His presentations brought depth and meaning to the acts of those who lived through those violent times. His knowledge of the Normandy campaigns is unsurpassed, and I have recommended his services to military aficionados (including some generals and colonels) here in the United States. I found his detailed and balanced account on par with the most eminent historians. He made every effort to give us the best that could be offered, whether it was in food, transportation, accommodations, or simply a place to rest to catch your breath. He made a supreme effort to visit relatively unknown historical sites that I only dreamed of every visiting. He is one of the best tour guides that we have ever travelled with because he really cared for us, and I wholeheartedly recommend the services of his company.

This trip was so emotional and revealing. Our guide, Jozef, gave us very in-depth explanations of everything that occurred during D-day and the days following. We walked Pointe du Hoc, Omaha beach and the American cemetery . Our guide took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch in a fishing village. The day was exceptional. Highly recommend it.

Emily our tour guide was perfect. She accommodated our needs, including my mobility issues, very well she was extremely knowledgeable on the events and circumstances of D-Day and the geography. On our trip to Normandy from Paris, she highlighted sights, events and history to educate us. I would definitely suggest her.

My family was so fortunate to have Jozef as our tour guide for 3 three days. We toured Paris with him, went to Normandy and then did a tour of the Champagne region. Simply said, he made our trip to France wonderfully special. He’s fun, knowledgeable and very accommodating. We will come back to this beautiful country and when we plan it, Jozef will be our first call!

Walking on Omaha Beach and having our guide narrate the battle was a very moving experience. Joe, our guide, knew details and the impact of each part of the day. He told of the aftermath from all perspectives and gave us the backstory of the people living in the area. Best experience of my entire trip to France.

Jozef was excellent. He bonded with the whole family and was able to tailor the learning experience to each of our different interests. He also had a great personality and was incredibly knowledgeable, making it a fun and informative experience. Would recommend the tour to anyone in the area!

I was wondering if it is best to stay at a hotel near DeGaulle Airport and have you pick us up there or stay in a downtown hotel in Paris? Just wondering which area would be more convenient and easier to get to Normandy from. Thank-you.

Would it be better to go to Normandy from Paris on our own and get a hotel room and take the tour from the hotel, or start the tour in Paris? My son's 20 and 23 are interested in seeing Normandy while we are in Paris. I want to make the experience enjoyable for them.

We used Viator and had Jozef, the co-owner of Private Trip. It was a all day tour from Paris. He was great and the tour was excellent. But it is a long day (6:30 AM to about 7:30 PM) as it takes almost 3 hours to get here. I believe he does a two day tour with an over night in Bayeux. I would look into that. But I would thing doing a tour from Bayeux might give you more time to see more. But our tour and Jozef was great.

We are having a family trip to Paris in September and are wanting to book your Normandy trip. We will have 4 adults,2 boys 10 and 12, and a 16month old baby boy. So we would need a car seat and I did not see where I could let you know that. Also is the price the same for adults and children? Thank you for any information you can give me.

I don’t know if they have a car seat or not. I believe the pricing might include everyone. I would suggest you contact Jozef at the Private Trip website.

Hi, my husband and I would love to take this private D-Day tour but I have a question on the price. At the top it advertises $218.93 low price guarantee. When I punch in 2 travelers it gives me a price of $1,535.86. What is accurate? That is a huge price different.

Hello Audrey, the final price of the tour $1535.86 is correct. Our tours are private, meaning once booked you will not share it with other party (in your case only you with your husband and guide for the whole day). I can't speak for the tour guide, but it is extremely likely. It is an entire day, the guide will have tried to guess at the 5 or 6 most appropriate sites/stops,; swapping out a stop is not a big deal, and the guide's focus is your party's fulfillment.
