We used Viva Transfers from Lanzarote Airport to Playa Bastian. Followed instructions received on my confirmation e-mail. I sent to them an email to explain the poor service as there was no driver there to pick us up & after approximately 45 minutes another company came over to expalin they had been asked transfer us to our accomodation. Here is the reply I received couldn't believe the attitude

Sorry to hear that.
But yes we have a very busy day. The island is getting busier and busier every year. Companies struggle to find enough drivers, same for us.
We do our best but also add the poor service the airlines are giving the entire summer and giving us a nightmare and everybody blame us for that reason.
Is not our fault flight delays, drivers don´t have option just wait for the customers, take them to their accommodation and back to the airport for the next.
Everybody expect a private driver waiting for them no matter what time land. Is not a private driver, is a private transfer and people should adapt a bit more to the circumstances.
I´m understand you are tired and want to arrive asap to your hotel. If you want to blame someone, do it to the airlines.

When purchasing goods in Spanish territories the VAT can be claimed back. Appears to be a relatively simple procedure where the shop issues you with a document that is scanned at a terminal at the airport. Refunds are then issued via the tax office in the boarding area.
Document wouldn't scan so sought advise from the young lady at the information desk. It appears we interrupted her phone viewing activities and had little or no knowledge of the procedure. The machines apparently had been installed the previous day and we were told to get a taxi to the tax office in some town about 15 minutes away. Well that's going to happen when you need to check in!
The online procedure states if problem at the terminal the customs office is located next to the machine where the procedure can be continued. Well, surprisingly there is no office. Got the young lady to get a customs officer to attend in person. Clearly on his arrival he didn't want to know. I was being told contradicting any official or airport guidance that it was a different type of tax and needed to go down the taxi route.
After going though to the departure area where it is stated the tax office is located to process the refund, I thought I would have one more go, after physically checking the area and not locating this office I asked in the main duty free area, they said there not an office. I asked at the Swissair information desk who confirmed no tax refund office.
That's great about €740 down the pan!
Why have these systems in place when they are not in place at the airport and staff are not trained or made aware.
They even had the scheme being advertised in the boarding area.
Appalling lack of organisation and interest by some of the staff.
Once you leave the country do foes any hope of receiving what you are promised. - Well done.

Great airport staff were friendly and great. All COVID measures up to date. Clean well presented Air Port plenty of facilities including seating, WC and Bistro style café.
