Margit and Simon, the best! I reserved the Tapas Tour for a group of colleagues coming from other offices in Europe, so the "audience" was diverse........but they all loved it! It was an interesting and animated tour by Malasana, a lively neighborhood. The "tapas" places chosen were just the right choices for such a big group of people (we were 16, so, no easy in those small tapas bars :-) .........Thank you again for such a good time, to Margit, Simon and Amy ;-) Totally recommended!

If you detest the idea of “Tour Groups“ then you are my kindred spirit. Our idea of traveling to different cultures is to immerse ourselves and sample, respectfully, what another world has to offer. Deciding to entrust ourselves into Amy’s care was a leap of faith. She and her Belgian counterpart, Cedric, did not disappoint. They shared what they passionately love about their adopted homes, including the food, shops, tapas bars, and restaurants that they personally haunt in the Malasaña neighborhood.
They made an exception and increased by one their normal limit when adding both me and my wife on short notice, a day in advance. We totaled seven, plus Amy and Cedric.
It felt like an intimate, progressive, dinner party with friends, enjoying each course in someone else’s home. As we walked, we found ourselves shifting partners, chatting and sharing life experiences. This was all due to Amy’s welcoming embrace, her warmth, and her passionate love for Spain.
We were personally moved as she walked us through the heart of Malasaña describing the ten-year-long celebration of the possibility of finally living a life of free expression that began on November 20th 1975, the day of the death of Franco and 40 years of dictatorship! Imagine how it must have felt to experience a bloodless coupe and peaceful transition to a new life.
But…I have yet to say anything about the food and wine!!!
Amy, a sommelier by training and experience, taught us how to objectively differentiate the levels of acid and tannins in wine by the different responses one feels in one’s mouth. She introduced us to locally produced vermouth, a daily aperitif ritual: look for them available on-tap — “Vermut de la casa”— much like craft beer. (And, I thought Vermouth was only for Negronis and Manhattans: who knew?!!!)
You will learn why aging legs of Iberian ham are hung with the hooves (some black) still intact. (It nearly melts on your tongue!) You will sample tapas that touches your soul, and swear that, till now, you never ever really knew a Manchego.
The tours are not inexpensive, but worth every €. We should have finished by 9:30, but didn’t part company ‘til well nigh half past ten. And, we are still in touch with our tour companions.
Oh, and did I forget to mention that when I asked, Margit emailed me a 3-page list of things to do and places to eat and drink in Madrid. She did likewise when I asked about our next destination, Barcelona. We found some real gems that you would not otherwise uncover.
¡Margit and Amy, muchas gracias por todo!

We did the morning food tour and it was fabulous. Our guide, Irene, was utterly delightful, informative and friendly.
We started with churros & coffee then moved on to try cured meats, olive oil tasting, olives & fruit ending with an authentic tapas lunch. All food & drink included in the price and very good value for money.
Fantastic morning!

Brilliant! Just brilliant! Irena was a warm, friendly and passionate host who took us for Churros, olive oil tasting, olive, fruit and ham tasting as well as Tapas around the market. It was so informative, lots of food and lots of fanatic insights into Spanish life. This was a truly wonderful morning and a great way to start our break in Madrid.

Our Neighborhood wine and Tapas tour was AMAZING!
Our guide, Theo was full of wonderful information and just a pleasure.
He took us to 3 very different, yet delicious places full of culture in their own style.
This experience surpassed my expectations and i will be recommending it to anyone who visits Madrid.
Theo thought us about Malasaña, about wine, vermouth food and traditions.
Couldn’t recommend this more!

I am very happy I booked this tour for my first morning in Madrid. Theo is a very personable, welcoming and knowledgeable guide to the city. He adapted the tour to respond to the interests of our small group and created a fun rapport with each of the group members. We ended our morning tour of wonderful food businesses carefully selected to give us an intimate and authentic experience with a very satisfying and convivial sit-down meal together. Theo also ensured I could find my way to my accommodation. What a great way to adjust from jet lag!

What a fun day! Amy had emailed me with a few different itineraries based on the age of our group of 9. 7 years old to 76. We opted for a mid morning start time that included some fun things for my sons aged 7 and 10 to enjoy…churros and a scavenger hunt! Margit met us and we immediately fell in love with her bubbly personality and great sense of humor. We all hit it off right away. She took us to the local spots that we opened (most places are closed during August for holiday) and we enjoyed all of them. This was a great afternoon. Highly recommend this tour! And highly recommend not eating breakfast before!

We had a few wonderful hours with Theo, our guide. He was personable, knowledgeable about all the food we tried and happy to chat about Madrid in general. The tour was a great introduction to an area of Madrid that we returned to time and again during our trip.
We'd be very happy to repeat the experience next time we're in Madrid!

This was a great way to start our trip to Spain! Leire was so engaging and excited to show us some of the traditional foods of Spain, how they're made, and to introduce us to some of the people who make and sell them. It was a relaxing and fun morning walking around the beautiful Malasaña neighborhood, and the tour served as an excellent primer for us to understand what and how to eat in the days to come. My teen agreed that it was one of the best experiences of our vacation. I recommend it to anyone who's traveling to Madrid, including families with kids!

Hi! I would love to book this but as I'm travelling from the US, I have concerns on whether or not my flights will be timely. I am scheduled to arrive at 7:50 am on 10/29. So, I could do it that day or the following day as long as I would be able to catch up with my tour by 7 pm on 10/30. Is this something I could wait to book upon my arrival? Sounds like so much fun! Also, staying at Hotel Rui Plaza Espana. Is it within walking distance of your pickup point or would I need to get taxi/uber? Thanks for your time!

Hi there, I believe you could wait to book as Oct is less busy. The Walk Eat Spain tour also does afternoons. But you could also do the evening the tour it started at 6 p.m. and ended around 9 p.m. Both options give you plenty of time to rejoin your tour. You will not regret this tour, we also stayed on Gran Via at the Iberostar about a 15 minute walk from where you are staying. The tour met at a metro station very easy, not sure if this is where they always meet but would guess it is. You can also email Amy the owner of the company , she is very helpful and will address all your concerns. Last piece of advice, bring an empty suitcase for shoes and purses, the leather is amazing and very inexpensive. Cheers have a wonderful trip
