Thank you, Luca Orlandi and your team at Rome Private Excursions, for collecting up all our crazy list of ‘want to do’s and making it happen!
They didn’t miss a bit. With only one week to visit we never felt rushed but were able to be present to each moment, with many delightful extras added in!
Exploring Castel Gondolfo then on to Rome’s Appian Way, Catacombs, Church of Quo Vadis, the footsteps of St. Paul…to touring the Colosseum & Roman Forum with Maria Laura, followed by an afternoon at Campo de Fiori, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps, all while pointing out so many amazing sites along the way.
Rome Private Excursions gave us the chance to travel across Italy to see the countryside, instead of speeding by train. Our drive took us through different towns, different regions, with the varied landscapes. And with our driver, Manny, we were able to find out more of what we were seeing, to be able to appreciate even more the people and all the work that makes Italy such a beautiful country.
Stopping in at the castle town of Ferrara then onto our stay in Bologna, he made sure that all we were hoping to take in was realized. And then onto Venice. I am really very grateful to Luca and Rome Private Excursions for offering this drive.
They delivered us through the maze of travelers so that we could purchase tickets to Venice. During our stay there, their tour guide Sara shared the unique history of Venice, life in Venice today, and guided us through St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. Her depth of knowledge, her love for her home, her willingness to open up her world to us, gave to us, like Luca has to Rome, and Maria Laura has to sites she shared with us, and Manny has to the Italian countryside, made us feel not like strangers waundering through but like friends coming home. Thank you to each of you.
Can’t wait to come back to Italy … with Rome Private Excursions.

Manny was our tour guide and wow! there wasn't any question that I threw at him that he didn't have a detailed answer for. Literally, he knew dates, and stories and locations.. truly a wealth of information. We gave him an overview of what we were looking for and then allowed him to choose our destinations (as it was our first time in the city). He didn't disappoint and took us to places that we didn't even know existed.
Some were super popular locations, some off the beaten path and outside the touristy stuff, but we were blown away by all.
He took us to places that are not on your typical tour guide itinerary but more local flares that were beautiful.
If you hire this company, ask for Manny!

As someone who knows very little about the history of Ancient Rome but loves the Faith, this was perfect. Luca provided a charismatic education about the city which brought it to life. I learned so much that just inspired me to learn more and to fall in love with the city.

My advice - if there is anything at all you are considering splurging on when you visit Rome, then make it a tour with Massimo! He was overflowing with enthusiasm, knowledge, and perspective. My wife and I were instantly put at ease with him from right when he stepped out of the van to say hello. He took us to key spots, entertained our spur of the moment requests, and kept us focused so we accomplished everything set out for our time together.
When considering if you want to spend the money - do you want to go on 5 different, half-baked tours with a massive group or have 1 complete day with a new friend who is complete focused on your questions, interests, and needs? My wife and I agree - our best time in Italy was with Massimo and Rome Private Excursions!

We had Max as our guide, he was great! He was a good driver, spoke excellent English, and best of all he was so knowledgeable. Everything we saw was very important to Christianity, yet we would never have found on our own. We all truly enjoyed our day and learned so much. Definitely recommend!!

I loved being picked up and dropped off at the hotel and the private tour of the city and St. Paul and Peter and our tour guide was very nice. I cannot stand nor walk for long periods of time. This private tour allowed me to experience the scenic view drive,and minimum walking.

Are we able to 'skip the line' on the catacombs and Mamertine or will we have a long wait? Also, there's only two of us; will they combine us with another group?

We were not able to skip lines at either location, but the wait at Mamertine was very short. The catacombs wait was about 20 minutes in late April, so expect some wait time there. The Mamertine tour is self-directed using audio devices. The Catacombs tour is docent-led and you will be broken up into groups of 15-20 by spoken language. Our tour guide was a 1st-year seminarian student from USA - very informative!
Like the previous questions that do not appear to be answered, the ad states the tour is from $90.86 but when we go to book it the price states almost $300. What is the true price and what is the $90.86 tour?
From my understanding, because it is a private tour, the tour is a flat rate. Then that rate is divided by how many people are going. If 8 people (the maximum amount) go, it is the lowest price per person (90.86.) But if less people go, it is more expensive per person because they still have to cover the entire rate.
Gibt es die Möglichkeit, die Tour auf Deutsch zu machen? Oder gibt es ausschließlich englischsprachige Guides?

this tour says from $96 and when I went to book it, the price went all the way up to $295! Can you please clarify? We really would like to do this tour at the lower price.

It shows on the web page tour is $95 but when I go to order it says its $214 a person. Why such a price variance?

Is there much walking in this tour? .. We're interested in a tour that requires minimal walking .. due to my husband's handicap!
