I Vatican tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. However, there were 18 people in our group, and every part of the tour was a bit stressful because they were so many tourists packed into the spaces throughout the Vatican tour. It seemed unsafe at times, where we were just squashed together. I was in constant fear of losing the tour guide. We did lose one couple for a while because of the crowd pushing. I would not do this again. I really could not enjoy the Vatican. The second tour we had to cancel because my husband was sick. We tried to call more than 24 hours before the start of the tour, but was unable to get through…just recordings. When I was able to get Internet, we emailed saying we were unable to make the tour. This was only one hour and a half later than the 24 hour deadline…22 1/2 hours before the start of the tour. We were very disappointed that they would not give us a refund after asking them several times . I would not use this tour company again.

We had an amazing g time visiting the Roman forum palatine hill and the colosseum. Our guide was Nina and she was brilliant. Highly recommend this company and this trip. Booking was straightforward and meeting point very organised. Nina was really knowledgable about all the history and made it so interesting and such fun. Don’t hesitate to book this trip.

Our tour through the Colosseum was very enjoyable. Our tour guide, Giada, was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend!

I booked this tour 4 Months ago with The Tour Guy.
Today I get a text and email saying that the tour was canceled and that they rebooked me on an earlier tour without my consent. Although, I know tours are totally subject to availability and rules and regulations of the government and maybe canceled at any time. I feel a 4-month after the booking window is unacceptable to cancel.
I also booked the Vatican tour through The Tour Guy and felt if this Colosseum tour is canceled that Vatican maybe as well. I decided to cancel myself to be on the safe side and go to another company to rebook.
The 2 stars are for the communication that the TOUR GUY contacted me with and also the fact that they rebooked on another tour without my consent for the tour the Tour Guy cancelled. All though I did not go on any tour offered by the Tour Guy, I felt compelled to write a review of my situation.
I have heard others getting "burned" and felt the public should know of this possibility. Good Luck

We missed out on the tour because The Tour Guy failed to inform us of a time change. They contacted us on the day asking us where we were!!! They offered another tour several days after we were due to leave Rome. As we were traveling from and then back to Australia this was not possible. Extremely disappointing that we missed out on this experience due to their incompetence. They did refund and apologize but that is not good enough. They refused to provide any compensation or credit for the inconvenience they had caused. Do NOT use The Tour Guy if you want to be certain to go on a tour and have limited time. They can NOT be relied on.

Lia Caso led us on a scintillating afternoon of serious history, scandalous history and riveting stories as she led us through the Forum, The Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. We really hung on her every word. She was able to discern our interests quickly and highlight those thing she thought might be of most interest to us.
Her easygoing, warm and embracing manner made us feel that we were the only people in this crowded corner of tourism. Lia is truly one in a million. Ask for her when you book!

Cracking 3 hour tour of the colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. Alba the tour guide was very passionate and informative. Well worth the money!!

We booked this tour weeks ahead for 9:00 AM. Prior to arriving in Rome we were notified that the tour had been moved to 10.
On the morning of the tour we arrived at the colisseum and along w two other couples were told that the tour guide had an emergency and that we should wait. At around 10:30 (after standing and waiting) we were told to just go, that we would get a call if and when the tour could be rescheduled.
At 11:30 we got a call that we had to be back at colosseum at 11;45. We ran back only to be told that the tour would no longer include the catacombs beneath the colisseum (which was the whole reason we had booked the tour, to have access to that area). We and the two other couples balked and the guide did take us down but we were rushed.
Also, I hate to criticize anyone’s English as it is inevitably better than my second language but the tour guide’s English was limited and she was clearly not particularly familiar with the colisseum. The tour was very rushed and basic.
She handed us over to a second guide for the hill (not sure if that was a product of the last minute rescheduling or would always have been the plan)
Emergencies happen but I specifically booked w this tour guy as opposed to one individual so there would be back up if someone came up. The tour company did not have a plan in place so we lost a lot of time.
They also were not remotely apologetic. They should have given all of us a discount on their own.

Giovianni was an amazing guide and the private tour was worth every cent. He was very informative and we learned exciting niche facts about the gladiators and the underground system of the colosseum. Skipping the line was a must and we were able to see 5x more than if we were alone.

Today we had the wonderful good fortune of taking a tour of the Coliseum, Forum and Palatine with Lucina. Her knowledge of the subjects matter and skill in sharing that knowledge was both refreshing and inspiring. She came prepared with materials that enhanced her presentation which made the ancient ruins come alive. Her enthusiasm for the subject matter was genuine and exponentially elevated our experience. It was so much more interesting than any tours we have taken in the past and we hope to meet up with her again for other tours we’re taking. Grazie Lucina.
