Wonderful time!
This was fantastic! Roberto was very engaging and provided lots of great information. He pointed us in the direction of some great restaurants in Cefalu as well. We had a wonderful time!

An unforgettable day with a first class guide

Incredible, special, and customized day to make wishes come true. Umberto, our guide, went above and beyond to assist us in a quest. We went as a family group of 6 from Catania to Palermo on the train where we met up with Umberto. Our grandfather immigrated to the US from Castelbuono in the 1920's, having been the only surviving child of 9 siblings. It has been a dream of ours to explore the place he once called home and explore our roots. Once Umberto heard of our quest he was on it and took us to the city's vital records office where he assisted us in gaining access to city records showing our heritage and his original home address. Umberto took us to visit that home and spoke with the current residents. Umberto also explained to us that he would speak with the "old men playing cards" in town to find information on the family. Could it get any better than this? Actually yes, it did. Umberto asked if we would enjoy and personalized lunch experience and we agreed. He took us to a local deli/grocery where we had the most wonderful lunch, everything homemade including beer and wine. This was an experience unto itself!! We had the very very best time. Could it get any better than this? Yes! We have a sister who is physically unstable and requires the use of a wheelchair on and off. Umberto was a great deal of help with her when she felt challenged by the terrain or by her physical constraints. He was kind and compassionate, encouraging her to try and when it was not possible he stayed with her so that the remainder of our group could go on. Umberto had exceptional knowledge of the area, was charming, professional, skilled driver, and an amazing man in his own right. I highly encourage anyone wanting to visit these areas to seek out this company and request Umberto. Thanks to him for making wishes come true.

Really enjoyed the beach and the castle! Overall, was worth the car ride out there and good to get a nice experience of both the mountains and beaches of Sicily!

Loved the small town of Castelbuono!

We did a private tour of Castelbuono and Cefalu. Our driver was friendly and provided history as we drove to the destinations (he was 30 mins late picking us up in the morning to leave for the trip).

Castelbuono was on of my favorite towns we visited this entire trip. It is a cute, sustainable mountain town where donkeys pick up the recyclables and the locals set up chairs on the sidewalk for afternoon chats. The castle itself is beautiful, and currently functions as a modern art museum. I was more impressed by the town itself. All the food is sourced locally, and is delicious (they also provided us with many free samples). We ate lunch at this little shop owned by a husband and wife--- the food was very fresh and they were so kind to us. If I lived in Sicily, I would live in this little town.

Cefalu was ok. It was cloudy/rainy when we got there so we didn't really get to enjoy the beach (although the beach space looked very small). It was very touristy (lots of people on the streets and lots of shopping). The photos I saw prior to visiting Cefalu showed all these colorful boats in the sea; we did not see them. There is a gate with love locks on the pier, which was cool.

Sono alloggiato all'Acacia Hotel (Campo Felice di Roccella) e ieri, 28 ottobre, sono andato con Noema viaggi (tour) a visitare Etna e Taormina. Ho trovato come accompagnatrice la sigra Carmen. Gran fortuna ho avuto, abbiamo tutti noi, avuto. Eccellente nella cordialità, nella preparazione, nella gentilezza. Ha reso migliore, anzi ottima, la giornata a tutto il bus circa 40 persone. Caso ha voluto che nell'escursione di oggi, 29 agosto, verso le tre città intorno all'Hotel (Casteldelbono, Petralia Soprana, ....) è di nuovo stata la nostra accompagnatrice con 3 lingue diverse per ovvi motivi. Valuto volentieri 5 stelle la signora Carmen con mia moglie, volentieri. Ci ha fatto vivere la sua terra la Sicilia con i suoi miti, i suoi gusti la sua cultura la sua voglia di vivere e lavorare e bene: grazie a questa signorina, certamente da valorizzare sempre più, vanno riconosciuti molti valori e la ringrazio. Umberto was a great host and extremely knowledgeable. He kept us up to date about everything we were passing and always let us stop and take photos of things that interested us.
We almost didn’t do this tour because it was costly. But I’m so glad we didi. He offered that we could go to the beach for a couple of hours in Cefalù which was perfect for us. We had been wanting to go to the beach and it was perfect.
We had lunch in Castlebuono at a shop where they treated us like family. Everyone seems to know Umberto and roll out the red carpet. This was a fantastic day!

Great guide & driver

Since this was a private tour, we asked to adjust to include Montreal as that tour wasn't available on our date. Both guide & driver were agreed and instead of Castelbuono took us to another castle nearer to Cefalu. Guide was very knowledgeable and the driver did an marvelous job. My wife has walking issues and the pace was perfect. Highly recommend this tour or any by APE Tour.

A Unique Experience with a Great Host!

A must-do experience when visiting Sicily.
I really enjoyed this tour I took last week with my husband. Umberto, our host and attentive driver was very professional and helpful.
Castelbuono is certainly a town to visit for its particular location within the Madonie mountains, beautiful well-kept castel and picturesque narrow streets. A visit to the famous Fiasconaro pastry shop and a butcher shop where the owner gives a generous tasting of his products will remain in our hearts, such a welcoming town with friendly people.
Our next destination was Cefalu, a lively fishing town with beautiful sandy beaches and breath-taking views. The Cathedral, which is a UNESCO Heritage Site, really surprised us for the unique mosaics dating back to the Norman period. We had lunch at a restaurant practically on the sea. Delicious food enjoyed as the sea breeze refreshed us was...heaven on earth!
Umberto guided us to the many sites the town has to offer, then back to Palermo.
I surely recommend this Castelbuono-Cefalu tour but also the other experiences Ape Tour Cinisi has to offer because of their hospitality and professional way of doing-it-all!

A Great Day Trip from Palermo

Myself and seven family members took this trip with Umberto as our guide. Castelbuono is a wonderful medieval town. There was a castle and church to explore. Then there was new food to experience. We tasted the sweets of a local shop and had the opportunity to purchase items. Then we went into a butcher shop. The owner delighted everyone with many different cured meats that are specialties of the area. Several were bought to take home. Then we traveled to Cefalu. We had lunch in a restaurant with an outdoor dining area overlooking the sea. The food was great. Then we were free to tour Cefalu. Umberto found an electric car tour for my mother and I to take around the city. Walking on the uneven surfaces would have been challenging for my mother. This extra attention to our needs was appreciated. Some family members spent time on the beach. Some had gelato in a cafe on the beach. Then we headed back to Palermo. This is a great day trip.
