Having read positive reviews of this tour, with praise in particular directed at the guides, we were really looking forward to this. However, our experience fell well short of this expectation. Right from the beginning of the minivan ride our guide seemed a little nervous. She went on to explain that she hadn't given many tours before and that her English wasn't very regularly practiced. It was as though she was purposefully setting the expectation low. The one assurance she did give us was that she was capable of driving the minivan. Perhaps this was a red flag. She seemed very nervous driving it. As though she hadn't done so before. Our first stop was at Arouca where we were advised to take a toilet break. The public toilet which we were directed to was not the cleanest. Be prepared to bring tissues and soap with you. After that we were dropped off at the Suspension Bridge. This was pretty cool with great views of the beautiful landscape. It is newly built and feels very secure. The guide there spoke mostly in Portuguese but also in English at both ends of the bridge informing us of the safety precautions and build history as well as some information about the area. After this we walked gently downhill for about 5 km on the wooden walkway which follows the course of the river from one side along the bottom of the valley. Nice but definitely in need of maintenance and some repair work. At the end of this we were met again by our guide. She directed us to a toilet facility which was about halfway up a hilly path to where she'd parked the minivan. Whilst some of us were at the toilet or waiting above, she attempted to manoeuvre the minivan and rolled it backwards crashing it into a small wooden cabin which happened to be just a few meters up from us along a narrow pathway. By sheer luck of the cabin being there no one was injured but this situation could have been much worse. She assured us that the brakes had failed. However, when her colleague arrived nearly an hour later to manoeuvre it from the crash site and park it on the slope above the brakes appeared to work just fine. It seemed more likely to us that she lacked the necessary skill and experience to drive that minivan rather than her assertion of mechanical failure. So the van was not roadworthy or she should not have been driving that van. Either way the responsibility lies with Enne tours. We were then taken back to Arouca for the lunch by another guide who seemed to be much more experienced however the new van did not have a microphone linked up so those sitting in the back could not hear. We all had the Veal which was very tough. Perhaps it had been overcooked due to our delayed arrival. The potatoes and cabbage were nice. We were pretty much left to ourselves without much explanation about the food/wine. Our original guide did join us for about 10 minutes to eat. After that we were met by another guide for the Costa Nova and Aveiro parts of the tour which were picturesque but felt a bit rushed. Again, whilst this guide was experienced the same issue persisted with the new van of not having a microphone hooked up so again it was very difficult/impossible to hear him.
Overall we felt quite disappointed by the experience of this tour. We contacted Enne Tours to communicate our grievances and requested a partial refund as we felt strongly that our experience did not represent good value. We were greatly disappointed that the version of events which they communicated back to us were inaccurate -
"The accident happened while you were walking the walkways. You just saw a crushed van at the end of your morning activity"
"You got another van and another guide in a few minutes"
Their failure to sufficiently acknowledge their responsibility and how our experience was negatively impacted very much disappointed us
"The tour did not change a single bit" They also
TL;DR Very inexperienced guide. Not great English. Crashed van. Tour experience compromised. Partial refund request unsuccessful. Enne Tours not accepting responsibility claiming that tour was unaffected.

Dear Ariel and Eddie Coogan, congratulations! Mission accomplished! You promised and you made it!
But, as you were told, we don't negotiate refunds based on BLACK MAIL or EXTORTION attempts!
This is just a part of your threats: "This is why we have requested a refund since the very first email. If you don't see it this way then we can leave a review accordingly... fair and honest review..."
We don't tolerate that someone threaten to use bad reviews to black mail any of us!
You also haven`t booked through Trip Advisor, but as your refund was denied, you think its a great thing to use this as a revenge. It probably makes you feel better!!
To let you know: Before your review, we had filled a full report about all your emails and threats. We have reported all your emails before this review! We were all expecting it!
When you were asked the reasons of the refund, your answer was basically because you saw a van that hit a wooden house while reversing. (and all the “ifs” of could had happen!) We can`t give refunds based on “ifs”.
There was an accident with a van. The whole group got another van in few minutes. The tour just carried on: you did the bridge and the walkways until the end (when you saw the crashed van). Another van replaced yours and the group went to the restaurant (which, apparently, food was not good as well) You visited Costa Nova, Aveiro and back to Porto!
Your tour was not affected a single bit! But, all of a sudden, your day was just miserable! Even the public toilets were brought to the subject here!
How could you handle the tour until the end!! :)
All the best,
Ennetours Team

Our tour from Porto was an incredible experience, thanks largely to our Guide Mauro, who combined professionalism with a great sense of humor. We started the day early, making a short stop in Arouca before heading to the Pasarelas del Paiva, where we crossed the impressive Suspension Bridge. Mauro made this experience both informative and fun. The 5km walk along the walkways was an unrivalled scenic adventure.
Lunch at the Abadesa restaurant was a real treat; the food was absolutely delicious. Afterwards, we relax on the picturesque Costa Nova and enjoy the beauty of Aveiro, the "Portuguese Venice", with a relaxing gondola ride. Mauro made this tour an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Very friendly Guide, with a well equipped van that has a microphone and what to hear even for those at the bottom. Bridge really for tourism because it's only going back and forth on it.
On the other hand, hiking on the footbridges is really nice and very accessible. A very good typical meal, with the possibility to help yourself if desired. The city tours that followed were also very nice with periods of free time that allow time to visit a minimum. However, with regard to the last activity of the barges that is called "Venice of Portugal" this has nothing to do with it because it is more of a touristic thing with no particular view.
The town of Costa Nova is definitely worth a visit, it is very cute.

Very good day overall. First half, excellent, second half just OK.
Acoura was great, and so was the restaurant.
Then we were dropped at Costa Nova for half an hour, and Aveira for 40 minutes, before the final canal boat tour.
I would have liked some suggestions as to what to see in those places, or optional guided walks.

Very impressed with this amazing tour, I booked it without reading much into it but there were so many beautiful stops and sights. It started exactly on time, and our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. Lunch was delicious (there is a veggie option), and the wooden walk was walked at a leisurely pace. I forgot about the boat trip at the end which was a lovely way to end the day!

What a great trip! Super nice guide Mauro. The suspension bridge was spectacular and everything was well organized so there were not too many people on the bridge at once. There was a small interesting introduction by the staff that made the waiting time pleasant.
From there the Paiva sidewalks go about 3.5 km mainly down through the Unesco protected VAU valley. Beautiful, but also exhausting at 34° and 90% humidity. Guides are not allowed to go to the stop at 3.5km to pick up guests (only after another 3.5km, which also go uphill) but since I have asthma, he was allowed to pick us up there. Everybody liked that!
Afterwards we had a local lunch in Arouca - very delicious.
The last section was Costa Nova, the seaside village of Aveiro, which was a sleepy fish village only 6 years ago and now successfully serves as a bathing residence for the rich and beautiful. The typical striped fish houses are mostly lovingly restored or it was rebuilt in the style. Very pretty. The beach and the sea are great.
Aveiro is called the Venice of the area, which I find quite excessive. There we did a canal trip, which was nice. The town itself also has some worth seeing old houses.
Overall, just great at a very reasonable price.

Our guide Luis was wonderful. He was kind, very knowledgeable, and communicated the day's plans clearly. He provided lots of history and tid bits of information both during the excursions and on between during the van rides.
The suspension bridge offered a bit of a thrill and definitely beautiful views over a river. If you are scared of heights, this portion will be a challenge you. Also, if you are bringing children close to the age of 6 you will need to prove that they are 6+ with some form of ID in order for them to cross the bridge.
The Paiva Walkway downward offered different vantage points of the suspension bridge, river, and surrounding mountains. Really beautiful. And the 5k walk (usually 7k but the last 2k was closed during our visit) takes you along the river and allows you to admire the mountain side, trees, and flowers up close. We ended wearing our 6 and 7 y.o. kiddos on our backs for the last 1k or so, as they started losing pace with the rest of the group.
The boat ride along the canals in Aveiro is a relaxing break after the long walk on Paiva, and is an informative experience around the history of the towns architecture, salt trade history, etc.
Costa Nova is a quick stop before you head home, with beautiful brightly colored houses, and some history about the fishing village.
All around a wonderful tour, especially with Luis.

The main purpose of this tour is to visit and WALK over 516 Arouca pedestrian bridge. If we book this tour for the entire day, we will lose some other morning activities planned by our Vantage cruise/tour. And even we sacrifice this time and spend the entire day with you, we still are not sure, if we can have any activities on the bridge. We wonder, why the bridge visit is NOT included in total price and the tour operator leave this as an option, and we will have to be responsible for the tickets that may NOT be even available ?!? This situation has diminished this tour and doubt us a lot. Please suggest how you can deal with this situation, coordinate time, tell us how to get onto the bridge (number of steps, difficulty to reach the bridge from a bus stop, etc.). Please advise.
Skrevet 28. juli 2021
We are interested only in half-day afternoon tour from Porto to 516 Arouca bridge with return, on a group, not personal tour.
We have to be picked-up and dropped-off at Douro cruise port. Please check with your tour suppliers for this possibility. Thank you.
