Such a great day trip from Salzburg !
A highlight of our Austrian vacation, definitely worth the price -
The Salt Mines were fun and those slides!
Afterwards we had enough time in Halstatt to wander around and have lunch.
Our guide Shiva made the journey to Halstatt entertaining and interesting at the same time !!
The van was very comfortable too.
Highly recommend Edelweiss Tours , they’re the best !!

This was the last excursion that I planned for my trip to Salzburg. I was really on the fence because I worried about the company and customer service after I read SO many negative replies that they sent back to previous guests. In the end it was a great day, a small group with an informative (maybe a bit militant in a quirky way) guide. Probably my favorite day of the whole trip, despite the rain. I echo a lot of the reviews here that wish there was more time spent in Halstatt. I hated feeling rushed. But regardless, it was well worth the money. (Disclaimer: the walk up to the salt mine was much more difficult than I anticipated. If you have any elderly or mobility-limited people within your party, I don't recommend it.)
That said, my advice is to whoever with Edelweiss is responding to guest reviews on this site- JUST STOP. You are doing a disservice to the company. Stop replying with long defensive messages. You are in customer service!! It is your job to just say "Thank you for your feedback, we will take it into consideration in the future". You are scaring off business, and I too don't want people to miss out on this fun day.

With regards to your advise: In our opinion everyone in business, no matter which, is a business PARTNER, not a servant. If we are attacked with even untrue information we prefer facts as response instead of phrases. Best wishes

Had a great time as a solo traveler. The guide and the others in my group were very friendly and sweet. Did the salt mine together and even had lunch with a lovely couple I just met through this experience. Halstatt and the mines were an incredible adventure. Highly recommend!

Even though it rained, Fritz made the trip enjoyable with his safe driving and knowledge of the area. Hotel pick up was on time, van was comfortable for 8 people. Salt mines were very interesting especially 3000 + year old staircase. Walking around Hallstatt was wet, but went to the SIMPLE restaurant for delicious tomato soup and a beer.
Edelweiss response time was very fast with inquiries and when we forgot a bag on the van. Fritz called and returned the lost item immediately the next morning. I would use the company again on a future tour.

Our tour guide was very responsible and experienced, explaining the scenery along the way even on the return trip. Salt mine is pretty cool and worth of visiting.
When we entered to Salzberg, he still continued to introduce the various famous attractions until we got off the bus. Minivan was comfortable. Thank you!

The weather was good and there were many tourists, but the scenery and the temperature in the mine was 8C, so it was nice to walk around listening to history. It was fun to see two wooden slides straddling each other for years.

Edelweiss tours ruined our short trip to Salzburg. Booked 3 tours with them months in advance as we only had 4 days in Salzburg - they cancelled 2 of the trips 5 days before our arrival stating not enough people booked on the tour. they then tried to reschedule tours with some alternatives which were not what we wanted and proposed dates which were not suitable. The third trip they cancelled not because it was unavailable but because of my complaint to them about the another two cancellations. Basically, their customer service decides if they like you or not and then play sort of gods who decide whether they take you on the trip or not . Horrible. I hope we get a refund for almost £800 we spent on these three trips otherwise we will be chasing them in courts. They put me off going to Salzburg . I just hope the rest of Austrians are not as rude and arrogant as these lot. Doris from customer services definitely needs to be trained in how to handle customer complaints - not sure if her management is even aware that she is cancelling deliberately bookings against customer wishes . Something is so wrong with this operator

The facts:
We informed you already WITH THE BOOKING CONFIRMATION in February ESPECIALLY, that it needs a minimum number of people that the tour can be scheduled. You accepted that rule.
We informed you a week in advance that there are not yet enough bookings and gave ideas for alternative options with similar experiences possible.
You responded in an offending way.
That our response was still polite and based on facts (which, by the way, were on our side - what seemed to be difficult for you to accept) is due to the professionality of Doris.
We did not cancel the additional tour because of your complaint. YOU yourself wrote: "PLEASE CANCEL EVERYTHING AS I CANNOT SIMPLY DEAL WITH YOU". Following your order we informed also Viator that you would like to cancel (of course, we would have done that other tour for you).
As we also informed you yesterday: The refunds will leave our account on the auto-run at night. From our side also that was done correctly.
On the refund-system of Viator we have no influence.
With regards to Doris: She is careful, customer-oriented, has a joyful heart (especially helpful in certain cases), is an incredible source of knowledge and thus has made many clients happy over many years. A company having her in the team can be more than happy.
Less happy a company can be with customers who are not able to see their own responsibility.
Even more regrettable is when one - as you do - does not even mind to give untrue information ("cancelling against customer wishes" - YOU ASKED US TO CANCEL EVERYTHING).

Shiva was our guide and he was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and welcoming. On the ride up to Hallstatt he pointed out points of interest and gave us the full background including details of the cultural history both then and now. He welcomed questions and discussion which made for a fun ride with lots of jokes and laughter. He took lots of photos of us getting all the best angles and was sure to recommend shops, restaurants, and points of interest based on our group’s feeling. The salt mine tour was excellent. There’s a few steps up to the top which required my mother-in-law to rest a few times but shouldn’t be anything too difficult for anyone who is used to walking a mile or two a day or light cardio. Hallstatt has become quite crowded from tourism so it was a little difficult to find food. I might plan a little differently next time. All in all, very cute town and an amazing experience thanks to Shiva and Viator!

Me and my wife went on this trip. Our guide Fritz picked us up at our hotel. Fritz our guide told many histories about the Salzburg region, and other stories about Halstatt. Both the salt mines and Halstatt are must places to visit, you will not regnet. Me and my wife recommend this trip sitrongult.

Hi,
If I join this tour, is it mandatory for me to go your way only?
For example, I want to use this tour only for the ride there and back that's it. The time I am there I want to spend however I please, meaning not going to the salt mine for example and just explore the city the whole time I'm there.
Is it possible?
