Wild Sweden are true nature lovers .. Food and facilities were excellent .. While it did rain which limits wildlife activity , the entire experience is outstanding .. When no rain we had fabulous moose encounters .. We had 2 bucks , , 2 sets of mum and calf , 2 female and a yearling on one night .. And we saw beavers at their lodge .. highly recommend Wild Sweden . .

5 stars for the one star hotel. An amazingly trainquile nature experience. The kids absolutely loved it as well.
Malin takes all the time needed to explain the workings of her forrest paradise.
Start the morning with chopping some wood, starting a fire and filling the kettle to prepare coffee. This procedure makes it the best coffee in the world right away. Then eggs, pancakes, and gone is your question of what to do this morning :)

Everything was great, from the adorable huts in Kolarbyn to the safaris. The guides are very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They brought us to beautiful spots where we had dinner by a fire. The food was delicious (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options), local and Wild Sweden makes sure not to use single-use plastic. Wild Sweden also provides high quality equipment to observe the animals from far. The safaris are very well organised. This tour is perfect for nature and animal lovers.

I travelled from the UK with my young daughter to go on this trip. We had a fantastic time, we were well looked after, saw moose and lots of other wildlife and we both value the memories - & it was 12 years ago. (I've had to select 2019 below as that's the earliest date on the list). Life and other things have got in the way of a repeat trip, but maybe soon. I definitely recommend it: the memories last.

What an amazing 4 days in the beautiful Swedish forest!! So much warmth, inspiration and coziness sprinkled over the whole experience!!
The Ecolodge is really one of its kind, it’s like living in a folklore fairy tale. Me and my friend absolutely loved the tiny village of huts. Sleeping on sheep skins with a fire going the whole night, cooking, chopping wood, wandering the little paths down to the lake, to the spring, to the shed filled with organic foods. There are so many fire places spread out amongst the huts, so when we wanted privacy we could have it, and when we wanted company the other guests were great fun to hang with. And I was so impressed how comfortable it was to live such a simple life. I’ve been camping a lot, and having little prep tables for cooking, simple benches for sitting around the fire and the soft sheep skin sleeping all make for a very luxurious time outdoors without losing any of the charm of living in the forest. It actually felt way more ‘genuine’ than camping. Every single item there is made of natural materials with that old-timey rustic nostalgic feel to it. It’s like the whole place is one with the forest!
The little lake by the lodge is so beautiful and we started each day with a swim! We had plenty of time to just chill and enjoy the place. We went canoeing, ate lots of blueberries, and we found tonnes of chanterelles so we could offer some classic Swedish chanterelle toast to a British/South African couple.
I haven’t even made it to the guided safaris yet! I’ve been travelling a lot and I gotta say that the guides, execution and scenery were absolute top-notch. You can really tell how much care has been put into these tours. Our guides were so deliciously Swedish: humble, genuine, warm people who clearly love what they’re doing and proud to be a part of Wild Sweden.
We started out the first afternoon by hanging out with Curre by the fire at the Eco-lodge, just getting to each other and cooking up some very yummy lamb sausage wraps. We had a splendid time together!
The next afternoon we had signed up for the bush craft course, which I can’t recommend enough!! Jonas, the expert, was such an interesting and warm person to spend a couple of hours with. Super impressive to see him make a fire the old ‘bow & stick’ way. He is a fantastic teacher and we all learnt to make a fire with a farro rod, with a really fun competition at the end. We got inspired to join one of his longer courses some day.
In the evening we went on the beaver safari with Curre and Elias. We divided into two groups and set off in by far the quietest boat I’ve ever been in. We stopped on a little island (and got to show off our new fire making skills). OMG! The food!! We had flatbread wraps from a little guesthouse nearby with beets, goat’s cheese, organic greens, wheat berry and pumpkin seeds. It was perfection! Served with local black currant nectar and smoked wild boar sausage. After our dinner we learnt about beavers. Very interesting and it was such a fun discussion instead of a lecture. Then we set off down a narrow river to see if we had any beaver luck. We saw beaver lodges hidden away along the shoreline and not long into the trip we spotted one!! It swam ahead of our boat for the longest time and we all got to follow through our binoculars (amazing quality of course). After a while it disappeared into the water and popped back up behind us. As it got darker we continued our journey with less luck. We had almost given up hope on any more sightings, and then right at the end, we spotted the cutest baby beaver!!
The next evening we went for the moose safari. The dining spot was divine!! Looking over a gorgeous lake and once again we got served a totally delicious wrap, cookies and drinks. Elias and Eskil discussed moose and other wildlife with us and then we went for a very nice walk through the forest. Echoing other reviews, this forest is aaaamazing. Soft sphagnum moss covering the ground, old old pine trees and no paths. It was really interesting looking for moose droppings and other traces of them. We had a million questions for Elias about every little hole we saw, lichens, moss and plants and were very impressed by his knowledge! We even found some cloudberries!! And the ground was covered in blueberries.
After our lovely walk we set off on our minivans in search for moose. We were mightily rewarded!! We must have had at least ten different moose sightings. Mostly mamas grazing in the fields with their young ones, but we also saw a male with mighty antlers. Each time we spotted one, we stopped, and peered through our binoculars, they were obviously not disturbed at all and just went about their business. A couple of times Eskil set up the spotting scope and we got to see them super close. My personal wish for the outing was to see moose moving, they have the coolest groovy bouncy walking style, and towards the end of the tour we spotted a mama bouncing through the forest. I was very happy!!
Overall, the guided parts of this adventure were so harmonious. The pace and scenery were just right. Just like the setting of the eco-lodge, they were one with nature!!
I would recommend these four days to literally anyone! It’s such an incredibly unique and genuine way to experience nature in all its glory and you are super well taken care of throughout. I’m def coming back again!!! Next time I’ll bring my daughter.

The Kolarbyn adventure is fantastic. Top of the list for me was the floating sauna on the lake, followed by swims in the lake - oh it was so good!, but I also enjoyed cutting wood, tracking the progress of the charcoal burners' pit - they were up all night making sure it did not collapse, and the wonderful beaver and moose tours, which were very special indeed and led by three excellent guides: Simon, Eskil, and Jonas who really love their jobs. Simon particularly converted me into a beaver fan - you could tell how passionate he was about them. They really know their stuff, we were wowed by the animals we saw, and I shall never look at an English wrap in the same light again - they do their picnic food properly in Kolarbyn!
We bonded well too with the other Kolarbyn adventurers and shared many a laugh at our attempts to live 'wild' (not really wild although be prepared for noticing how smoky your clothes are when you return to the city). Kolarbyn gave us lots of support in this gentle introduction to living in nature at the eco lodge -I particularly liked being greeted by two lit candles when we arrived at our hut, and the 'hoover' marzipan sweets Malin brought us on the second day for our dessert - unexpected little touches that made the moment special. The people, including Malin who greeted us and came every day to sort out food etc, were absolutely lovely - kind, friendly, polite, cheerful and almost courtly at times. A very special holiday indeed.

Jag tillbringade tre nätter i Kolarbyn och deltog samtidigt på ett antal aktiviteter: bäversafari, älgsafari och bushcrafting. Det var fantastiska dagar och en perfekt resa för den som vill koppla av från vardagen lite. Välorganiserat i all sin enkelhet. Roligt att träffa nya människor och äta, laga mat och leta efter vilda djur tillsammans med.
Kan verkligen rekommendera denna resa!

Wild Sweden don't just take you to places and show you things, they take time to make your experience on this holiday an adventure with added hospitality and warmth.
Kolarbyn Ecolodge is a wonderful place to stay with all you need to cater for yourself, sleep warmly and enjoy each day with spontaneity - walking, swimming, boating, sauna. It's all there for you.
Then three tours in the evening, each a delight. The guides are friendly and knowledgable. They take time to introduce themselves and the group to each other. They provide locally sourced food and drink to enjoy. As a vegan I was really well catered for at Kolarbyn and on the safaris which I really appreciate. If part of the tour, they will build a fire to sit around. They spend time talking about the animal we hope to encounter so you really understand about them and have the opportunity to ask questions. They provide equipment that may be needed - rubber boots, binoculars etc. and for the Wolf tour tents, mats and cosy sleeping bags.
Then the safaris - the beaver trip was a magical boat trip along a wide river. We saw a beaver in daylight then moored up for a short walk to see a lodge and a dam. As night fell we cruised quietly along the river and stopped and saw many beavers by lamplight. The guide kept the trip going as long as we kept sighting beavers so we didn't feel hurried in any way. The moose safari saw us cover several areas in the recognition that it was getting dark earlier but the moose were unlikely to appear before about 9pm but the guides persisted and we were rewarded with lovely views of several cows, one calf and one bull - it was great to see them!
The Wolf safari was extra special. We set up camp and ate and talked, then walked stealthily through the boggy forest and reached the chosen spot. The guides then realised further on would be a better spot and we moved on. Then we sat and waited in silence as the sky darkened and filled with stars - it's hard to describe such a magical night. We were rewarded with sights of wolf cubs in torchlight and later the sky filled with their howling. In the morning, we returned to the spot on so did the wolves! We got to see them quite relaxed in daylight which was an unexpected bonus.
Not only does Wild Sweden have the expertise to get us to the right spot in the wolves' 1000 sq km territory but they so obviously love seeing the animals themselves. This passion for the role in bringing tourists into their world is obvious.
I would totally recommend this Wild Sweden tour and would book with them again without hesitation - thank you for an amazing holiday!

We stayed in the Kolarbyn Ecolodge (see separate review) and went on the beaver, moose and wolf howling trips organised by Wild Sweden. The arrangements worked seamlessly, being collected from Kolarbyn for each one, arrangements were made to store our bags on the last night, and we were taken to the station to return home by one of the guides. No need to hire a car at all.
We went on the beaver, moose and wolf-howling tours. I was going to write about what we did and saw - but that might take away the element of excitement so instead I will be more general. Our guides were Ewan, Eskel and Marcus (apologies for any mis-spelling), who were all very experienced with wildlife, but also great with people and highly professional. They transported us everywhere, and made sure that we were well fed, catering to meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans (and I am sure other diets - just ask). The food and beer is locally sourced, and the lady who makes the flatbreads, cakes and jams is a major asset to Wild Sweden! We were provided with kit including rubber boots, good quality binoculars and head torches. Walks were all less than on hour, no steep climbs but moderate terrain including across marshes, and reasonable pace (well, after asking Marcus to slow down when walking at night!). The guides knew exactly where to take us for great views, and how to marshal us to keep quiet, while making sure that nobody missed out on viewing the animals. They respected the wildlife and environment, and minimised disturbance - no putting out food to attract the animals to us, we saw them on their terms. And yes, we had stunning views of beaver both swimming and on land (and one eating an apple, which can't be part of their normal diet); the moose took a while to appear, but we did get great views of a mother and calf, and of a stag with antlers. And as for the wolves, that is an evening that we will remember for a long long time, that got even better the next morning. Magical.
When making arrangements for this holiday we relied on advice and information from Frida at Wild Sweden; all of the information she provided was spot-on, so thank you, Frida, and thank you to all at Wild Sweden. We hope to return!
