We booked a transfer for 8:00am on Friday 18 June 2021 between Rydges Esplanade Hotel Cairns and the airport. We had been waiting in the hotel foyer from 7:30am. The driver rang me about 8:10am to advise that he was running late due to traffic and would be arriving shortly. As he had still not arrived by 8:30am, I called him back and was given the same advice. He finally arrived around 8:45am, with the same apology. I noted that there was only one other passenger in the vehicle and doubted whether traffic was the real explanaion, the delay being more likely caused by a series of hotel drop-offs from an earlier incoming flight.

This left a narrow window for flight check-in and bag drop, causing unnecessary stress at the end of our holiday.

Hello Charles. Thank you for your feedback. It appears that your transfer was on June 18 some three weeks ago, as such the driver does not have any recollection of your transfer. We can only go by his manifest and our GPS tracker. It appears that there were a couple of delays at hotels with one group failing to appear and the other late to show. There were some traffic delays also in the CBD, which may have compounded the delay. We all expect some variation of timings with a shuttle bus, nevertheless, 45 mins. late is too long and we apologise. We will advise this driver to be more up front in future. It did make you run tight for your flight and that can be stressful. Apologies again. We hope you had a relaxing flight home.

We were expecting a shuttle service to pick us up from our Hotel to Cairns Airport. We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted with an upgrade to one of Exemplars luxury sedans piloted by Edric! Super friendly, great conversation and an all around awesome Transfer to the Airport. Thanks Ed! And thank you for the complimentary chocolate buffet!

Return trip from Cairns to Port Douglas. Excellent prompt, professional service from Kevin and Ross.

On the way into Port Douglas Kevin stopped at a vantage spot that afforded a great coastal vibe and as we entered the town he took time to help orient our around the area with landmarks and restaurants worth visiting.

Ross took us back to Cairns and he offered helpful suggestions about our future travel plans in QLD, places to visit that might be worth a look.

Highly recommended.

We arrived at the airport and several drivers were there but none had our name on the cards they were holding. One of the drivers called our driver then told us our driver would be there for us in ten minutes. We got our luggage and stood there alone in baggage claim. I then called their office. I got a recording saying the office was closed, but I could call a manager at a different number. I called that number and it didn’t go through-it had one too many digits. 25 minutes after we got our luggage the driver showed up.

Hello Kathy, Thank you for your feedback. It has always been company policy to be customer focused and to ensure our clients have the best experience when travelling with us. As such, we take negative feedback seriously and as such have investigated the facts surrounding your transfer. The situation that evening was: • Your transfer was in our system and a driver/vehicle were scheduled to be at International at the requested time. • Your flight arrived 1.5 hours late. • We monitor all flights, were aware of this, and had scheduled another driver/vehicle to punctually meet you. • Significantly, you booked a “shared service” and, as is always the case, punctuality is governed by the circumstances and behaviour of others. • On your arrival your driver was not there to collect you. • You called our office. A message gave an after-hours number. You claim the number had too many digits and you could not make contact with our Night Manager. o The number on the message has been in service for five years and was used by any others that night. o It remains correct. • When contacted, your driver deemed that, albeit he was still waiting for a couple of other passengers from the International terminal, he was confident that he would be at your pickup point “in 10 minutes”. • As it turned out, Quarantine found an apple in the bag of one of his last guests. • The subsequent processing stretched his time out of International. • Our driver said that on greeting you, he apologized and explained to you the reasons why the delay had occurred. He reported that this did not assuage your anger. • Our GPS vehicle tracker indicates that you left the airport precinct at 19.41 hrs; 39 minutes from flight touchdown. Subsequently: • we received your emailed complaint the following day (Feb 12) via your agent • we responded on Feb 13 and offered a 50% refund as a gesture of good faith, albeit that Exemplar accepts no responsibility or accountability for the alleged shortcomings in your transfer. • You posted a negative Trip Advisor feedback on 23rd Feb 2020 We contend that the circumstances which led to your delay were entirely outside Exemplar’s control and we feel that we compensated you sufficiently for your inconvenience. We trust this clarifies the situation.

After arriving in Cairns at approximately 1:30am due to delays, we had the nicest driver get us safely to our hotel and better yet- he offered us his suggestions on the best islands for snorkeling and what to do. He had so much energy and was so kind.

Our return transfer was another fantastic driver with charm to boot, best transfers I have had in terms of kindness, timing and price.

I simply cannot say enough about the quality of service provided by the individuals who work for this company. Gilbert picked us up at the Cairns Airport. He was friendly, caring, professional, knowledgeable, and personable. After of couple of minutes meeting him, we struck up a conversation that lasted the entire time we were together. Inside the car we were presented with a refreshing cold bottle of water, Mentos mints, and a toilet to freshen up after our plane ride. Instead of taking us directly to the hotel. He showed us where our hotel was located and then proceeded to give us brief tour of the surrounding area while making recommendations regarding shopping possibilities and excellent dining options. We were truly impressed with his attention to detail. Thank you Gil, for being the first person we met in Cairns. You are the perfect ambassador.

We had these guys for to and from the airport to our Pacific Hotel. The hotel pickup took 40 min before we were picked up. Then the return trip I was checking out from the hotel and my wife was going out to the shuttle. Then an employee from the hotel comes in and says he cannot believe the Exemplar driver named Len just standing there 10 feet from this lady struggling with her bags with his hands in his pockets. The hotel employee came to help. Come to find out this was my wife. I was settling the bill so this all went down without me knowing. Then he just lazily set them out of the back when dropping us off.

Hello JY Gomer, Thank you for taking the time to offer some feedback regarding our services during your recent visit to Cairns. I have investigated and here is what I have found. In respect of your “40-min delay on arrival” we have checked airline data and our vehicle GPS-tracking records: • Your flight (QF 702) landed at 12.29hrs (one minute early). • Our staff were there to meet you, your bags arrived promptly and your vehicle pulled away at 12.57hrs (and was at your accommodation as 1314). • Therefore, from flight touch-down to airport departure was 28 minutes. In respect of your departure, yes, I totally agree that the service that you received was unsatisfactory. It was certainly well below our usual standard. Les, your driver, is very apologetic. He has been with Exemplar for ten years and has been in the industry for over 35 years. • He epitomises all we stand for in respect of gentlemanly customer service. • We have never had a complaint about him. • He is known to all hotels in the region as a highly respectable and professional limousine and shuttle driver. The standard departure procedure at the Pacific is that the porters load the baggage. However, Les concedes that he should have been paying more attention in order to provide a friendly greeting to you and assist with your luggage. He also volunteered some background to his morning. He arose at 03.45AM to prepare for your 05.00AM transfer but was terribly ill. His wife urged him to stay at home but he insisted that another driver could not be summoned at short notice, especially at that time of day. He pressed on. At pickup time he was far from well and puts his inattention down to feeling pretty bad. Similarly, he says his “laziness” at the drop-off was also symptomatic of his struggle. After he farewelled you he called in sick, went home to bed, and took the rest of the day and two subsequent days off. Also, please don’t think we ignored your phone message of 05:30. Despite listening to it a few times our staff could not make out your number. They did their best with possible combinations but, as you know, they were unable to make contact. Again, I do sincerely apologise for any angst that our inferior level of our departure service
