Short review: Thoroughly recommended. I would book again without hesitation. My wife and I had seven days to see Morocco - not very long. We wanted to balance seeing a lot of stuff without feeling like we rushed it too much. The three day trip with Trek Morocco Desert seemed like the best way to travel from Marrakech to Fez while taking in the Sahara desert. I think we booked it through Viator, but I'm sure many platforms offer the booking. Our agenda seemed pretty straightforward: Pick up from your Marrakech riad /hotel. That went smoothly. We agreed to WhatsApp the Morocco Trek guys because we established we had good signal and data there. That made for easy rendezvous and let us share photos easily also. The mobile service in Morocco was better in most places than in the US. Transport in A/C comfortable vehicle: Walid and Abdou's 4x4 was one of the nicest vehicles on the road and we felt very safe driving with them.
English speaking driver / guide: Walid and Abdou were friendly, funny, informative and professional. We're still in touch. We got picked up at our Riad in Marrakech and headed up (and up) into the high Atlas mountains. Amazing views and mountain-villages. Trek Morocco had another tour running in the same direction as us with Karim the guide for a Hong Kong couple (Alex & his wife). We joined forces with them on our overnight stays and some of the other side excursions - we shared photos, mealtimes and many laughs. We travelled at a good pace, but there was something to stop and see very often (mountain views, rose orchards, ancient famous Kasbahs, ancient underground wells (khettaras)) . FIrst night we stayed at Kasbah Ait Moussa which is like stepping into a luxurious past. It has all mon-cons, but is built in the style (materials and techniques) of the centuries-old kasbahs of the region. We stopped at the world-famous Ouarzazate movie studios for fun and saw the world's largest solar power plant nearby (from a distance). I tried fresh camel milk. At the Merzouga Desert we saw scenes from the TV show ZeroZeroZero getting filmed - only learned that recently while watching it. Then we rode camels into an amazing desert camp that had been set up. They had a beautiful meal and our own tent with bathroom and showers - we were a bit embarrassed that it was that nice. We saw dusk and dawn in the Sahara, tried sandboarding and boy does it get cold at night - bring layers. It was late-Jan (even though review would only allow me to put Arp 2019 on dropdown). We had some musicians come through and play around the camp fire. The stars were beautiful. We headed to the mid-Atlas after the desert and drove into snow-covered hills which had attracted bus-loads of Moroccoans who had travelled hours from the cities to play in the snow. Amazing scenes on a day we woke in the Sahara. With the Trek Morocco team, you're in capable hands. They go about their business like professionals in a relaxed manner that balances fun with expertize.
