This was my first ever trek in Nepal. Not to mention the treks here in the UK were never a very good memory for me. The hostage of the guides had me so happy. They were so good and I did not feel that were ever bothered of me asking them questions. The beautiful view from the top of the mountain that I got to see was so elegant. All the walks full of struggle through the bumpy roads are all worth it once you reach your destination. Ratings for the trek and the company is beyond excellent.

Trek booking was easy, and follow up through email was also smooth. Both Devi and Nilam were very kind and organised our trip well. Our trek was a great experience thanks to our trek guide Rohit. We had a good time while walking together and he was really helpful all along the way. He's a great person and was like a close friend to us. It was great to hear his story and have him accompany us on our trek. Overall, we had an excellent time, and Asian Heritage more than met our expectations.

Hello Luke, Thank you for taking your time to write such a sweet review on our co-ordination, efficiency and service. Appreciation of these kinds have always encouraged us for doing better in coming days. Also, our guide Rohit is honored to be mentioned in your experience note. Guides like him will be more than happy to have travelers like you and show you the beauty, the nature beholds. Unfortunately, the weather was not as expected and we might not have delivered what we had briefed. But still, utmost thankfulness for co-operating and we hope you made beautiful memories in the snow. Lets wish they doesn't melt down like snows, instead remain as a joyful moment throughout. Regards

The epic trek - Everest Base Camp 2019

We had used Asian Heritage before and had been very impressed so it was the natural choice for us once we decided on the type of trek we wanted: our own guide and porter, we are both 60 plus years old, fit but not with the energy and pace we once had (possibly). Nilam and his team were very supportive, from the time of our arrival to the time of our departure from Kathmandu all was organised very well. Our guide Naresh and porter Huri were excellent. The former adjusted the pace and route to suit our needs, not so much the distance but the altitude was my biggest challenge, although my partner had no issues particularly with the rate at which we ascended. Some of the paths are hard work with broken boulders, high steps and of course steep in parts, but nothing worse than you can find on the Scottish mountains, the higher fells of the English Lake District or the slopes of North Wales. Its the scale of the job that is the challenge and the feeling that for every 1000 metres gained 500 metres are lost, its not just uphill, but up and down and back up on the approach route. With their support, knowledge of where to stay, when to stop and rest, how far to walk and how high to ascend each day we felt secure in our trek. We have no hesitation in recommending this business to handle future treks. It was so nice to arrive back at our chosen hotels for the last few days of our "holiday".

My top piece of advice is don't rush up the hill, acclimatisation is vitally important, giving yourself plenty of time to take pictures and soak up this special part of the world.

My second piece is make sure your sleeping bag will cope with the temperatures, our trip in November saw night time temperatures falling as low as -10C. As it is "lights out" early keeping warm is important for a good night's rest

My third piece is this is, at least for us, the trek is as much about the mental challenge as the physical - it is not 5* accommodation but it can be the best experience you will ever have and will be so memorable, so making the right choice of Tour operator, guide, porter and backroom support team is very important.

What follows is a brief account and a summary of this memorable visit to the Himalayas.

An Epic Trek
It all seemed such a good idea in 2018. Then we were chatting to our guide from Asian Heritage in Kathmandu who convinced us that we were NOT too old to tackle a dream trek to the base camp of the world’s highest mountain. Twelve months later after a white knuckle landing at Lukla’s airstrip we started to think that maybe we might have bitten off more than we could chew. 15 days, 138 kilometres (85 miles in old money) of walking to go, it is not the distance, it is the up and down that challenges legs and lungs. Our final steps would take us to a height of 5364 metres (17,598 feet), where the air is thin!
During our trek we were surrounded by some of the most awesome and highest mountains on our planet, Ama Dablam (my favourite), Nuptse, and Lhotse to name just three. Along the way we slept in local “Tea Lodges”, occasionally somewhat spartan but each managing to provide hot and tasty breakfasts and dinners to fuel our journey. Thank goodness for wet wipes, 4 season sleeping bags and Merino wool! Late October/November is most likely to be sunny and it was. Night temperatures were below freezing as we climbed higher but in the mornings our reward was blue sky and wall to wall sunshine, sometimes as afternoons wore on the clouds would roll down and hide the lofty peaks, but return them to our view as the sun set over the snowcaps.
Return was a 4 day fast hike , now with more downs than ups, the opposite of our ascent! Back home we are left with lifelong memories of our adventure: The cheerfulness, hospitality and resilience of the Sherpa people, the roar of the glacial waters of the Dudh Khosi River, the mule trains and the mighty yaks – the juggernauts of the high Himalayas. These hard working beasts carry nearly anything and everything, food, gas bottles, bags of cement, trekkers’ duffel bags. Their industry appears matched by the human porters who carry, what to us, seem enormous loads. The monasteries and chortens along our pathway, the fluttering prayer flags on the swaying bridges that carry us over rivers and canyons. The bright colours of Namche Bazaar town, the green villages like Khumjung. The sad memory of the memorial grounds at the top of Thukla pass, which recognise and honour so many of those porters, guides and mountaineers who set out for the summits but never returned home. The support of our Guide, Naresh and our Porter Huri, was vital to us in our achievement.

My husband and I went on a trek in the Himalayas in May.The trek was organised through Asian Heritage in Kathmandu. We accidentally came across them while searching the Internet and reviews from countrymen were okay. Upon our arrival we found
out it would be sort of a "private" trek as it was just the two of us, our guide Bhim Bastola and our porter Rabin Khadka. We enjoyed the trek very much, were in awe of the views we saw each and every day and felt very privileged to be able to do this. The weather gods also looked very kindly upon us as we had sunshine and clear blue skies each and every day. Bonus was waking up in Tengboche with snow! Bhim Bastola is a very knowledgeable guide who will explain about the region, flora and fauna along the way. He will prep you in the evening for the next day's trek and also asks for feedback of that day's trek. In our case he was also flexible with our trekking schedule and we were able to alter a few things along the way. He also made sure that our well-being had priority. Rabin Khadka was a pleasure to have with us on this trek. Not only did he make sure our luggage was always waiting for us in our lodge for the night but his quiet presence was especially for me something that helped me along our trek. Me being not as fit as my husband and therefore a bit slower, Rabin made sure he was always nearby and just his quiet and relaxed presence gave me the extra confidence I especially needed on our descend. Bhim and Rabin make a good team to have with you on your trek and we would recommend them both to anyone. The only "downside" to our trip was that we were not told beforehand how difficult it might be to get to or from Lukla airport. On our way from Kathmandu to Lukla our flight was cancelled due to Lukla weather. It resulted in us having to take a helicopter to get to Lukla as waiting till the next day does not guarantee you a flight to Lukla. And our trekking schedule being quite tight we could not afford to lose another day. As it was we had to sort of reschedule a few things because of the cancelled flight. Getting out of Lukla was no better. On the first day our flight was cancelled after spending 6 hours at the airport seeing numerous flights take off only to hear that the only cancelled flight was ours! The next day we spend quite some time at the airport again but finally we could board the plane. Upon arriving in Kathmandu the pilot told us that we were the last flight out of Lukla! Of course the flight problems are minor to our overall experience. We would like to thank Bhim Bastola, Rabin Khadka and Asian Heritage for the really wonderful and well organised trek. Many greetings from the Netherlands. Kostas & Conny
