Steven proved to be an engaging and knowledgeable guide during our exploration of the main sights of Saigon. In just a few hours, he efficiently navigated us through key attractions, demonstrating flexibility by accommodating our personal interests and requests. His laid-back and amiable demeanor made the experience enjoyable, and we covered a lot in our half-day tour. It was a fantastic and efficient way to quickly get acquainted with the vibrant city of Saigon.

We had an incredible experience on the Saigon day tour from the cruise ship Volendam. The tour was well-organized, and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We got to see some of the highlights of Ho Chi Minh City, including historic landmarks, delicious street food, and vibrant markets. The itinerary was well-paced, allowing us to make the most of our limited time in port. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we would highly recommend this tour to fellow travelers. Thank you for making our stop in Saigon so memorable!

The experience was remarkable from the start, thanks to stellar communication. Jack, our guide, along with our driver Troung, greeted us at the port gate. During the 1.5-hour drive into the city, Jack provided an exceptional lesson in his country's history and culture, enriching our understanding greatly. We visited several historic sites where Jack's explanations were informative and engaging. The highlight was an authentic riverside lunch, which was simply amazing. Jack's guidance was superior to what other passengers received on the cruise ship tour, offering us a unique and unforgettable experience. This tour, and Jack's expertise, come highly recommended.

I was led to believe that if we gave our passport info, the guide would meet us at our ship. That didn't happen. We killed at least 15 minutes waiting. Then I asked another tour guide there if he could call the number for our tour. He called 3 times but got no answer. We decided that we would look outside the port gates and fortunately there was a shuttle bus running to the area just outside the port gates. There was a young man there with our names on a sign, so we went with him. It was clear pretty fast that he didn't speak any English. So we had a 2.5 hour ride to Ho Chi Minh City with no commentary on what we were seeing. He DID play some popular songs by English speaking artists (more on that later).
Eventually, we got to HCMC and met our guide. He worked with the U.S. military during the Vietnam war, so he knew a fair amount of English. Having said that, we could only understand about 60% of what he said. We met at a museum and went immediately to watch a water puppet show. That was ok, though nothing special. As a side note, later in our cruise we saw another water puppet show in Hanoi that was WAY better that this one. Our guide made sure to take us to the souvenir shop and encourage us to buy stuff. This was the beginning of a feeling through most of the tour that we were in an infomercial.
The guide left it to us to pick what we wanted to see in the museum. He offered minimal explanation of what we saw. Basically, he told us the same thing we could read on the exhibit plaques.
Our next stop was at a factory/showroom where they make Vietnamese lacquer art. A young man explained the process they use to make the art. Then we were shown into the showroom. Again, our guide encouraged us to buy stuff. We weren't interested.
Next we stopped at a Vietnamese coffee shop. I don't drink coffee (my wife does), but I'm told Vietnam is famous for it's coffee. We sat down at a table and were given a small cup of coffee for my wife, tea for me. While we drank our tea, one of the shop women stood about 2 feet away and stared at us - kind of like a vulture. I guess we were supposed to buy some coffee, but we disappointed them again.
The lunch stop was next and we had a good lunch.
After lunch, we had the 3 wheel pedicab ride (which was fun) from the restaurant to the Ben Thanh market. This place is HUGE with anything you can imagine for sale. Spent about 30 minutes there.
Then our guide said that he would leave us and our driver would drive us by the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. I think I saw them, but we didn't stop and the driver never indicated when we were passing them.
Then we started the long ride back to the ship. This time it wasn't English speaking singers. It was native music and/or talk radio. I guess the opportunity to get money out of the tourists was past, so no need to butter them up.
In case you can't tell, we did not like this tour. Judging from the other reviews, it is highly dependent on how good your tour guide is. Our guide might be good if you are a Vietnam war veteran who wants to share war stories. If, however, you are looking for someone to explain the culture and significance of what you're seeing, this was the wrong guide. In addition, several times during the tour he asked us to be sure to give him a glowing review. We'll disappoint him on that one, too.

We booked, paid in full and twice confirmed the booking and still we weren’t picked up at the cruise port of Phu My after disembarking from the Sun Princess. Very disappointing experience.
After phoning the Bravo number we were given, eventually they sent a taxi to take us to Ho Chi Minh city and meet up with the guide at the Independence Palace.
The guide was good, young and enthusiastic about Vietnam. But unfortunately, I had my wallet stolen by pick-pockets at the Palace. I needed to be more careful and watch out for that. Be warned.
Lunch was supplied which was also good, but I ended up spending my time cancelling credit cards. The markets were great as long as you are OK bargaining with the locals.
After a bit of sight seeing we said goodby to the guide we headed back to Phu My and the ship with the driver. It’s a quite a long drive and the driver who didn’t speak a word of English managed to get lost trying to find the cruise terminal. Quite frustrating and tense as we knew the ship would leave without us.
Anyway we made it back to the ship eventually. Overall a less than perfect experience.
