I went with my husband on the three day tour to Wadi Rum and Petra.
I will start by saying that Tourist Israel/Jordanian Experience's strongest point is their logistics: everything went on time, the transports were always waiting for us promptly at every point, and I never had to wonder what was next or how to get there because everything was very clearly explained.
Pros: You absolutely must take two days for Petra. The Petra park is actually a city. There is so much to see and great distances to walk between each place. We walked 15 km the second day and barely had time to rest, I don't know how people with only one day in Petra managed, they would have to pay for a donkey ride/golf cart to make it to everything or give up on seeing parts which is a pity.
Our guide was Nizar, and he was very outgoing and knowledgeable and would go out of his way to get anything done for a member of the group, and he made certain everything ran very smoothly.
Wadi Rum was breathtaking and is a must see! We upgraded to the Martian bubble which was nice, we saw the sunrise from bed because it was facing east.
Our hotel for the night of Petra was walking distance to Petra which was amazing, and not everyone in the group got to stay so close.
Cons: According to the Tourist Israel website, the first day of the tour includes a few hours in Aqaba, but what actually happened for us is that we were given 15 minutes to walk around some empty luxury neighborhood (Ayla) that is separate from the city, then we sat for almost two hours at a restaurant that we were taken to and was not included on the tour price. The food was alright, but not worth spending the whole time of Aqaba in. I would have liked to see the city more.
The Martian bubble was not necessarily worth the 240 dollars we added, and the camp we stayed in had too much light for us to see many stars. The bubble we received in the Rum Luxury camp was not clean and had a huge chunk of hair stuck to the shower wall, making me doubt anyone had come to clean the bathroom at all.
While I understand that resources are scarce in the desert, the Bedouin camp we stayed in Wadi Rum did not have great food options, and as a vegetarian I had not many options for dinner, and I had specified that I am a vegetarian when ordering the trip. The meals at this camp did not include any drinks at all, not even water! The drinks were five times the cost of anything you could buy outside. The breakfast did not include any ready made Bedouin coffee, which is something very standard for a Bedouin camp I stayed in in Israel. This was disappointing.
In general, the trip was very rushed at every point, as is the case with many organized tours I've been in. For example, we'd stop at a lookout and were given maybe five minutes to look and the guide started pressuring us when we started taking pictures. Another instance: after a very long day of walking in Petra and after no organized meal since 8 on the morning, we were given 30 minutes for lunch at 16:30 on the second day.
Overall, the trip makes logistics very easy and I felt very safe, though if I went again I would do an independent trip where I could choose my own pace, restaurants, and accomodations because I did not like the accomodations or the restaurant of the first day.

Terrible service and inflexible team. Told to figure it out when ran into issues. Would recommend looking at other tour providers as there are many within Israel

We took a private tour that included border crossing service, a driver, a night in Petra, tour of Petra, a tour of Wadi Rum in a pickup truck and a night in a “Bedouin tent” hotel. The company was very responsive and tailored the tour to our needs both in planning and during the trip. We left our rental car in the parking lot at the border without incident, The border crossing service was excellent—timely and helpful (though not really necessary—it’s quite straightforward). But they outsource the services in Jordan and the results are decidedly uneven. The hotel in Petra was a dump, with a dirty stained shower curtain, beat up furniture, terrible food and a clueless staff. They gave us a room that was already occupied—the reception guy who took us up woke up the sleeping guest! The guide at Petra was very knowledgeable and very nice but upsold us—essentially “you bought the standard tour but I can provide the really good tour for $170 more.” And both our drivers, while very nice, stopped for supposed bathroom breaks at souvenir shops—presumably they get a kickback. Overall it was not good value.

Overall a great experience to see wadi rum and petra. Great tour guide on Jordanian side. However the worst ever accomodation experience in sand rose desert camp. Terrible “deluxe” tent with incredible poor “bathroom”, room without windows and lots of mosquios, avoid if you can, but since tourist israel is not allowing to choose and they dont give a sh..t about your preference for camp selection that you write in reservation, well i must say its just gambling…(ptherrs in the same bus had a much better quality camp like rum magic ot hussain camp) also sand rose camp had no real entertainment, just some dinner and staff dancing with guests on age old western disco songs, nothing like genuine bedouin show or experience, even if you order a shisha, they close down lights in central area, kind of push to get the hell out of here, go and dig yourselves in the tent, we dont want to have you here style… all this at arround 9-10 in the evening. Also tourist israel promises on website several centralized pick up and drop off locations in Eilat. This is a not true! Only Club hotel is offerred with no flexibility. So if you are in Coral Reef area expect an additional taxi ride.

Our 2 day tour was PERFECT! Everything went so smoothly and efficiently!! We were so impressed. We were a family of 5. We were picked up On time from our apartment in Eilat and driven to the Rabin border. We were met by Clive and given specific instructions for a smooth border crossing. Must have CASH! Our crossing took about 15 minutes. Once we crossed into Jordan, we were met by Ramsey, our Jordan representative. He assisted us with a smooth entry. Then he directed us to our driver, Bahia. He drove us to Petra. He was so kind and professional. Once in Petra, we received a lunch. In Petra, we met our guide who spent 3 hours with us. He was so knowledgeable and experienced. After Petra, Bahia met us to drive us to Wadi Rum. Once in Wadi Rum, we were taken care of with wonderful, friendly service and lovely, yet simple accommodations. Our tent had AC, electricity, bathroom and shower. It was very clean. The next day, Bahia met us in the morning to take us back to the border crossing. The sites were amazing and unforgettable!! This experience could not have gone more smoothly or perfectly. Thank you!!!!!

Please stay away from this company. They ruined our family’s trip to Israel, one we had looked forward to—and saved for—for a very long time. We booked a private tour to Petra and were never informed that the Jordanian border is closed on that day. Our entire itinerary was planned around the Petra trip. Had they informed us about this closing even a week before the tour date, we may have been able to reorganize our itinerary and cancel/rebook hotels without fees imposed. The only reason I found out about the closing was because I emailed them on June 22 to confirm our pick up time for June 24. At that point, they informed me that they were very sorry, but the tour had to be moved to Sunday. Because cancellation and rebooking was going to cost upwards of $1000, we were unable to move the tour to Sunday and thus missed out on Petra completely. This company put a damper on our trip that I have a hard time putting words to. Both my daughters were devastated. Worst of all, this company could care less. I requested to speak to someone, but was refused this: all communication was wholly impersonal via emails that were infuriating in their nonchalance. Do not book with them, please. I wish I had listened when other reviewers had complained.

As far as third-party agencies go, Tourist Israel is not an ideal operation. They are impossible to get a hold of when you really need them in a pinch. They claim to have an emergency number, but never picked it up once. They only communicate through WhatsApp chat during daylight hours. We planned to enter Israel from the Taba Border Crossing with Egypt, spend the night in Eilat, get picked up the next morning by Tourist Israel, then have them transfer us to Tel Aviv after the overnight in Wadi Rum. We had some issues with one of the couples in our group using a Covid Recovery Letter to get into Israel, and they told us they wouldn't be able to leave the country for 24 hours or until the mandatory border Covid test came back negative. Though it is ultimately our responsibility to be aware of all travel policies, part of the company's itinerary is shuttling you across a border, so they should be knowledgeable on these ever-changing policies and make you aware when booking such trips. While contacting them in a panic over this issue (which turned out fine because the results arrived in time) they decided to let us know less than 16 hours before the trip began that they were no longer making transfers from Eilat to Tel Aviv because of Covid and that we would have to find our own way to TLV. We were not traveling light, as this was a 2.5 week trip, so it wasn't as simple as jumping on a public bus, which you can't even book online as a non-Israeli citizen. So they left us in a bind and offered to take us to the airport or bus station for an extra $60. We ended up talking to the driver who took us to the border and he agreed to take us anyways (so basically the same service as before, just with the headache of figuring it out by chance). They also declined to tell us that there service basically amounts to dropping us off at the border crossing, figuring the rest out on our own and handing us off to a completely separate company. Not a big deal, but a shock when you're traveling to places you've never been and expect that someone has your back the whole time, but they've already proven difficult to get a hold of. The final problem came with our tent booking. They offered us to upgrade tents to a deluxe luxury tent, but didn't have photos so sent me the name of the place they use (or similar). I googled and they showed these gorgeous bubble style tents with big windows, so we agreed to pay the extra fee. Upon arrival after touring Petra all day, we were put into a regular tent, and the staff had no record of us or the other couple traveling with us having been marked down for a luxury tent. After trying to call and send several emails, Tourist Israel responded hours later saying that they had switched tent camps they were using from before Covid, and that all tents at this camp were "deluxe" while the "martian" tents were an additional upgrade. The camp was the exact same as the name they gave me to look up photos so I'm suspect on this. And if that is the case, they still need to inform paying guests of changes like this. They did end up refunding both couples our upgrade fee and the transfer fee to Tel Aviv, so at least they aren't scammers, just bad at their jobs. Not that I plan to go to Petra again but I would never use Tourist Israel again. I would rather just get myself to the border, which is very easy from center of Eilat, and book straight from a Jordanian company. The one saving grace is that the guide we happened to be paired with, Nizar, was hilarious and amazing. Made us forget about all of the mishaps until the tent shenanigans.

Hello there
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, as it is very important in order to improve our services.
I am very sorry, that we missed to inform you earlier, that the tours are ending in Eilat at the moment. Unfortunately, we had to make some operational decisions, as the pandemic is still impacting the tourism industry and the way tours can be operated.
Regarding the Bedouin Camp, there was indeed a change from the camp we used pre- covid, and all our clients are now staying in deluxe camps, and there is only the option to upgrade to the Martian tents. I understand that your booking was made during the time of the update. Again I would like to apologize for the confusion. I saw the refund for the deluxe tent & the transfer was made the same day.
However, we are trying constantly to improve the services and have already taken actions to run the tours smoother and started offering more options again.
I am still happy to hear that you have enjoyed your time with your guide Nizar and had a good time visiting Petra
Kind regards

The trip wasn’t anything as advertised. We spent 2 hours total in Petra vs the 5 hours promised. Tourist Israel also wasn’t upfront with the fact they aren’t the ones actually running the tour. The tour was outsourced to local tour group and had very low standards (ie doesn’t reserve time for bathroom etc)
I am a female travelling solo and paid for a Martian tent ahead of time and was told the camp site was “full” when I got there. I was also asked to share a room with another (male) solo traveller even though I paid additional $50 for a single room. I had to really put my foot down to get my own room!
The description said we’d have options to do hot air balloon on top of camel ride etc. what we got was a Jeep ride in a dessert and taken to a tourist trap where the camel rides were 5 minutes long.
When we got back to Aqaba. The local tour guide there had issues with time management. He took us to a restaurant that took way too long and he forgot to come back for us at the pre set time!! We nearly missed the border crossing time back to Israel as the border closes at 3pm!! We got there at 2:55pm.
We also had major issues crossing the border from Israel to Jordan. We were dropped off in individual taxis at the Israeli border to cross to Jordan. Our taxi didn’t drop us off at the right meeting point and we couldn’t reach / find any Tourist Israel representative to brief us on the crossing. We had to get through everything on our own and even found random tourists who were part of the tour that were equally as stranded. When we crossed to the Jordanian side there was supposed to be a local representative waiting for us. Obviously we had no idea given no one even told us about it. Somehow we found others on the tour and said we had to look for “Romsy” and that was it! Nothing else was provided. We looked and waited for Romsy for an hour. It was disorganized.

The tour per se was an enjoyable experience. I’d take the three day tour for more time in Petra if possible. Please read my closing comments.
The Jordan guide, when he assumed control, was personable, knowledgeable, and his commentary was essentially free of the political messages that often accompany tours of the Middle East. And he never pushed us to buy anything from the many souvenir stalls.
Of necessity one spends a lot of time on a bus. Even if things run on schedule during a one day visit there’s not time to see more of Petra than some of the “greatest hits.” Still, highly worthwhile. Expect to do a lot of walking, half of which will be up hill on uneven footing. I’d recommend heavier walking shoes or even light boots. The Bedouin overnight stay evokes a deluxe summer camp with acceptable food. Wadi Rum is worth seeing. Expect sand in your shoes unless wearing above-the-ankle footwear. An hour in Aqaba proved a waste of time for all in our group of 19.
There are several things that should be done to improve the patrons’ experience when they are traveling from Israel:
In contrast to the email boilerplate, nobody met us on the Israel side to take US dollars and to give us the name of the Jordan-based “fixer,” who is not the Jordan guide. It’s important to know the name of the “fixer” because the Jordan border force want to know it. This should be provided to all guests.
In contrast to the email boilerplate it was not necessary to pay to leave Israel (which one must do) in US dollars. The fee in shekels was lower.
There is an email contact who can provide information. Nobody answered the ‘phone numbers supposedly dedicated to urgent problems or questions. That’s distressing when trying to find the name of the “fixer.”
Currently one does not need a COVID test to enter Jordan, but it’s necessary to have a PCR test performed on the Israel side when returning, just as through TLV. It’s expensive and the communications are exclusively in Hebrew. This includes reporting of one’s results
and the payment website. While we may hope that this is a temporary situation, Tourist Israel could provide a warning (and translations) surrounding the PCR testing protocols.
This was a very fine experience. It could have been a better, far less stressful one, with easily improved infrastructure support.

First of all, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time in Petra with your tour guide.
I am sorry to hear, that the border crossing process was not as smooth as expected. Unfortunately, the new Covid regulations, bring some new challenges. We have already taken measurements to improve the situation and I appreciate your feedback, as it helps improve our services.
I wish you all the best, and hope to welcome you another time on our tours!

We got off to a rough start and had a horrible end to the trip, but everything in between was well worth the headaches of the border crossing. First, we had a bad experience crossing into Jordan from Eilat. Mostly because the guide was late to meet us. After he arrived he was able to take care of the problem. Going back to Israel was a nightmare! 2 hours! And no help. Our guide dropped us on the Jordanian side and left. No help from the Israeli side. Warning! cell phones don't work well at the crossing! Get everything done on the internet before trying to cross. Credit cards do not work well over to pay over the cell phone. I tried 4 cards, all no country restrictions but they would not work to pay to enter Jordan. I called all 4 card companies and they all said is was on the Jordan side. So Get JD before you go!!
Now to the trip! Well worth the trouble. Even with all the problems, I would do it again. One day in Petra is not enough! You can not imagine and pictures can not show the majesty of this site. A friend told me Wadi Rum was better than Zion National Park. Well, in my opinion, close but not quiet! The "jeep tour" was in the back of an old pickup truck with two bench seats in the back. The truck sounded like it wasn't going to start every time he shut it off. The driver spoke no english but we were able to point and my limited arabic got us through the tour. The night in the Oasis was fine. The rooms were adequate and clean and the food was great.

Hello there
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback!
First of all, I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in magical Petra!
However, I am sorry to hear that you had a bumpy start and end of the tour.
Since you have joined one of the first Petra tours after 2 years, I agree that the border situation was not the best yet, and we are seeing improvements since then.
I appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to improve our services and information!
