Petra was great, but the tour was unprofessional and did not follow the itinerary advertised.

Crossing the border took 2 hours…but more because of waiting for the various tour members to arrive from different origins rather than due to the actual border crossing.

There were 42 on the bus tour which was much more than expected. 500ml water was provided, and that was the only free water given during the whole trip.

Aqaba was a waste of time - rather than being dropped off at the market for some free time (as per the itinerary) we were taken to a gift shop, then forced into a restaurant pay extra for a buffet lunch. We asked if we can go and explore the town but this was dismissed.

We then drove to Wadi Rum, via another gift shop, and went on a jeep tour which was decent.

The camp was depressing. It is about as unauthentic as you can imagine - sleeps approximately 150-200, the food is served in a large refectory. The food itself was ok, but the entertainment was blasting music whilst 5 men shuffled around linking arms.

The next morning, despite leaving on time and not much in the way of traffic we arrived to Petra at 12pm (rather than the advertised 9.30am). We did stop at a gift shop on the way…of course. The bus for day 2 had changed and was absolutely filthy.

Petra itself was great. Although we basically had 4 hours to rush round as much as possible and it was a challenge to get to the Monastery and back within the time constraints (not the 6.5 expected).

We were then slightly late to the border, the crossing itself was quite efficient, although we then had to wait almost an hour for the bus to leave. We were scheduled to arrive in Tel Aviv around 23:30 as “transfers to tel aviv are approximately 4 hours”….I write this review at 23:30 still almost 2 hours away from Jerusalem, and even further from Tel Aviv. I will be lucky to reach my hotel by 3am.

So for 4hrs in Petra, I’m sad to say it’s just not worth the 60 hours we spent travelling and visiting tourist trap shops. If someone offered me the trip for free, I wouldn’t go. Enjoy your time in Israel and visit Jordan separately if you want to see Petra.

While our trip was memorable, the actual itinerary did not live up to what was advertised. We had not time to explore Aqaba the first morning, only arrived in Wadi Rum mid-afternoon leaving no time for the "additional activities" prior to the jeep tour (which Was really fun!) and most importantly to us, only got to Petra the next day at around 11:30, leaving not enough time to explore as much of the amazing site as expected from the described itinerary. There seemed to be a significant amount of wasted time both days spent on needless stops to buy useless trinkets (or perhaps so our guide could have another cigarette break?). While quite personable, our guide also didn't exhibit a particularly deep knowledge of the site. Additionally, upon our arrival back at the border, there was no transportation available to take us back to our hotel in Eilat. Tourist Israel has been thoroughly dismissive of my issues. I would highly recommend a trip to Wadi Rum and Petra - JUST NOT THROUGH TOURIST ISRAEL!

Wow! This experience far exceeded our expectations. I was a bit leery after reading some of the reviews about difficulty at the border, and I’ve heard from friends that the Jordanian border can be very long sometimes. However, we were provided with clear communication from the guides and our Jordanian guide was waiting for us on the other side. Plus we arrived at the border as soon as they opened at 8:00 before there were any lines, so it only took about an hour to cross, get biometrics and go through customs. Out guide collected the border fees etc.

Our Jordanian guide, Kareem, was absolutely lovely. He served us freshly baked konafi that his wife had made and was always there to assist. We stopped for lunch in Aquaba (out of pocket), but it was reasonably priced and amazing Arabian food. Our jeep tour through Wadi Rum was breathtaking. We stopped for a climb up the sand dunes and were then served herb tea in a Bedouin tent.

The food was abundant and delicious. Though dinner was included in the price, we had to pay for our drinks, which I wasn’t aware of and hadn’t brought a credit card to dinner. Then there was Arabian dancing and music afterwards.

Breakfast was included and was a feast and served with tea and delicious mango juice.

Kareem arranged for us to ride camels see the sunrise, and at $30 was very reasonable and enjoyable.

We arrived at Petra the next day. Amazing!!!

I did Petra & Highlights of Jordan - 2 Day Tour from Tel Aviv
Tourist Israel promised, I quote from your website: "Cross the border into Jordan with border assistance". There was no assistance provided at the border. It took our group 4.5 hours to cross the border. WhatsApp communication between me and Tourist Israel was completely useless to help with border crossing. The Israeli bus driver who drove us to the Sheikh Hussein Crossing spoke very little English and could not provide adequate instructions. There was no assistance getting on a shuttle bus that took us across the border. We had to be in a crowd of locals pushing and screaming for an hour trying to get on that short shuttle bus ride.
Besides lacking adequate assistance at the border, communication from Travel Israel was very poor. None of 24 people in our group even received instructions about a need to register on a Jordanian website to fill out Covid-19 certification. As a result we were delayed further by doing that on the spot.
As a result of this delay, out of 3 places we were scheduled to visit we only had adequate visit to Jerash. Mabada was missed completely and by the time we arrived to Mount Nebo it was closed.
We paid $40 per person for the upgrade from a 3-star hotel to a 4-star for all 3 people in our group. But we were brought to the same dilapidated Alanbat hotel as the rest of the group. I asked other people in the group - none of them paid extra $40. Tourist Israel refused to refund the $120, basically stealing the money.
Tourist Israel promised a "hand-picked expert guide". The guide provided was hardly an "expert". I am not going to comment on his poor knowledge, but the least we could expect was his competence in assisting us with the logistics. His organizational skills were poor and he was was not even aware that the three of us were leaving Jourdan through the Aqaba border crossing that same day and not staying an extra day in Jourdan with the rest of the group. If I did not pay attention, we would be on the wrong bus, and would be stuck in Jourdan. When I brought up these issues with Tourist Israel customer service they basically dismissed my every complaint. In summary, beware of misleading Tourist Israel advertisement, lack of adequate communication, poor logistics planning, and outsourcing to incompetent vendors. Do yourself a favor - chose some other provider to organize your Israel tours.
I paid a total of $1,357 for three people. I request a partial refund to compensate us for all the things that were advertised and not delivered, not to mention $120 I paid for the hotel upgrade

Dear Oleg, Thank you for sharing your experience with us, We are sorry to hear it was not a better one, kindly note the 2-Day Petra tour is fully guided, however, our travelers receive assistance from one of our representatives only at the southern border. The guidance from our driver and the beforehand filled form (which we remind our travelers through email the day before) are enough for a smooth border crossing, it is quite easy to cross and we are sad to hear it was not the case for you. Following your booking request, we forwarded your upgrade payment to the hotel, the room upgrade to the other passengers was an adjustment made by the hotel only due to room availability. Your feedback has been shared with our operations team to further check into the matter. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with us– we take all reviews seriously and we use them in our continuous improvement efforts!

excellent experience ! the staff was very professional, kind and attentive. Petra is beautiful and unique, something that I never saw anywhere else, and Wadi Rum is a fun trip - the quiet of the desert, to walk on the beautiful sand, and to meet the local people with their special culture. Excellent Trip with incredible access to Petra. We booked a private tour for 1 night in Wadi Rum (pay extra for the Bubble Tent experience, it's worth it). Next day was a guided tour of Petra with Kareem (awesome English speaking guide). Our ticket included a second day in Petra and we went in early to have coffee in front of the treasury and watch the sunrise. Our drivers were prompt and courteous. Paying extra for the private tour is really worth it. It's difficult to get to Petra to begin with, so do not short change yourself and try to rush thru it.
