Had a wonderful time on this tour. Despite road closures due to the nairobi marathon, kelvin managed to get us to the sheldrick elephant park in good time so that we were at the very front of the queue, and then found us the best spot to view the elephants from. The sheldrick trust do such great rescue, rehabilitation and conservation work and it was amazing to see and support their work up close - a dream come true for me.
The rest of the tour was interesting and well organised, and feeding the placid giraffes and meeting the women who make beads were highlights. Kelvin also took us to a very nice spot for lunch. Thank you rustic nature tours for a great time!

Our guide Dennis was a wonderful guide for this day long activity. Each activity was very enjoyable and unique. We were able to pet giraffes and elephants. It was like a waking dream!! Our guide recommended an excellent restaurant for after the activity. Samaki Samaki. It was an excellent recommendation!! Thank you very much!!

Kelvin from Rustic Nature Tours is an absolute legend, he was our tour guide for the half day Giraffe Centre and Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage booked through Viator. Nothing was too much trouble as Kelvin was very communicative and ensured we were safe. He assisted in making the conservation park fee payment, as it was not straightforward. Kelvin has a wealth of knowledge including wildlife, Kenya and Nairobi living/communities - and welcomes any questions. We started off heading to the Giraffe Centre where entry process was streamlined thanks to Kelvin. Seeing and learning about the giraffes was amazing and could've spent hours with these majestic gaints - connected to the grounds of Giraffe Manor. Next stop was the Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary. Kelvin made sure we got there on time to guarantee us a spot right in the front row and it did not disappoint! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience to see these curious babies and hear all their stories about how they ended up in care. We then continued onto the Bead and Leather centre to learn about the process of beading and how this organization has helped many women in need. Kelvin was very accommodating to extend the morning (at no extra cost) with a visit to Bomas of Kenya (traditional villages belonging to the several Kenyan tribes) where Kelvin showed us around the Bomas. We paid for lunch and entertainment by various Kenyan tribal dancers, singers and acrobatics. To say we learnt and experienced the true Kenyan hospitality is truly an understatement. We highly recommended this experience with Kelvin. Asante sane!

What a fantastic experience. Kelvin, our guide, is passionate about the country and its wildlife. He’s knowledgeable, friendly and so helpful. The giraffe centre gives a brilliant opportunity to get close and feed the giraffes and the elephant orphanage is one not to miss. The great talk by the keeper was superb . Obviously the young elephants were the stars and what memories they have helped us make. The bead factory was fascinating and the end product beautiful. Would absolutely recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful first day in Kenya with our tour guide Kelvin Kaloki from Rustic Tours! Kelvin is very knowledgeable, communicates clearly, and shared much knowledge with us. We could tell he wanted to make sure we had the best time.
This tour had only 7 people, which was a nice size.
Kelvin picked us up at our hotel at 8:30am and we visited the Giraffe Centre first. This is a great place to get close and feed the giraffes. The staff are there to keep everyone safe, especially from certain giraffes that like to headbutt!
Next we attended the 11am presentation at the Elephant Orphanage. They had a baby rhino and 21 elephants and we got to watch them up close while the trainer explained all they do to rehabilitate and release the animals back into the wild. This was an experience we won't forget.
Next stop was a bead factory where they explained and demonstrated how local volcanic clay is transformed into decorative beads. There were many colorful items available for purchase after the tour.
On our way back, Kelvin offered a place for a lunch stop and we all agreed. The meal was tasty and reasonably priced. There was more souvenir shopping nearby.
Kelvin even helped us make a stop at a pharmacy to get a prescription filled! We can't thank him enough for a great day!

Kelvin was our tour guide for the day and what an absolute legend. We started off heading to the giraffe centre were we fired question after question to him about Kenya and the wildlife, with him giving us details about everything. The Giraffe Centre entry process was streamlined thanks to Kelvin. Seeing and learning about the giraffes was such a treat and could've spent hours with these majestic gaints. Next stop was the Elephant Sanctuary. Kelvin made sure we got there on time to guarantee us a spot right on the front row and it did not disappoint! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience to see these curious babies and hear all their stories about how they ended up in care. We than continued onto the Kobe Tough Bead and Leather to learn about the process of beading and how this organization has helped many women in need. The sanctuary is a separate experience. The rescued elephant puppies are fed with milk mammals, and you manage to pass hands on them and at the end of the show still love one to help with conservation.

We had an amazing day in Nairobi! Kelvin was a great tour guide. He helped us register for the National Pass on our phone before heading out, provided interesting information and prepared us well for the Giraffe Centre and the Elephant orphanage experience. Both visits were absolutely amazing, where we could experience the animals up close and personal, gain an education on the great work the teams are doing and truly appreciate the beauty of these amazing animals.
After visiting the two centres, we stayed in the park for one last game drive. We saw a few new animals - namely a serval cat and a white rhino. It was amazing to be on a game drive and see the city skyline all at the same time.
Thank you Rustic Nature Tours and Kelvin - especially since we made our reservation the day before!

Amazing time at both locations for my family. Kelvin was extremely knowledgeable about the animals. He was able to get us there on time and positioned well at the locations to touch both the elephants and the giraffes and capture great photos.
We also added the National Park and his expertise in driving, locating the animals and finding the perfect spot for pictures really stood out.
We did everything we wanted to do on this tour while adding a third option in 7 hours, and then was gracious enough to drop us off at the airport.

What does "price varies by group size" mean? There will be four of us in our group. Will you try to add to the group? How many do you need to have to get the $95pp price? How does this work?

I am still not clear about the national park entry fee. "Statutory Park fee Adult ($43)." Is that something we will definitely pay? Or is that a choice? We have 1 hour at the elephant orphanage. Are we obligated to pay the $43 as part of the trip for that 1 hour visit? If so, why isn't the cost advertised as $138 (95+43) since that is a mandatory fee? I don't understand this advertising and description.

Hi! Yes, as of 2024, if you want to go to the elephant orphanage (which is inside the Nairobi National Park), you have to pay for entry into the National Park first.
You pay for both separately. You have to make an eCitizen account and pay for the Nairobi National park entry online before you go there, and then pay the entry fee separately for entry into the nursery.
What a lot of people do is that they combine a game drive before of after visiting the nursery, so that the cost is worth it.
