We had a perfect day in Jakarta. Our tour guide Ine and her driver already waited for us as our ship arrived at the harbour. We got awesome impressions at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a batik fabric - with no need to buy, Monas and Jakarta Old Town. We also had the chance to drive through Chinatown and do some shopping in a small supermarket. As foreign credit cards are often not accepted in those markets, Ine offered to pay with her credit card but we were prepared and had enough cash - but so many thanks for the offer!!! We loved to see how the puppets for the shadow puppetry were made and enjoyed a short performance. The whole trip was perfectly organized, we had lots of fun and reached our ship in time with no hurry.
We highly recommend this tour and thanks again to Ine, her driver and Ferdy for the organisation!!!

Ferdy was great! He and his driver picked us up right on time at our hotel and safely navigated the infamous no-rules traffic while we relaxed in air conditioning. We got to do everything we set out to do and spend time where we wanted. Our favorite highlights were China Town, the Tuktuk ride to old Batavia, the intimate and friendly hosted puppet studio, the fresh Jamu stop and lunch at Cafe Batavia. Ferdy made sure to get us a table by the windows overlooking the plaza so we could absorb the scenery and people watch. It was the best orientation to Jakarta we could have expected.

Ferdy is an exceptional local guide in Jakarta. He is friendly, engaging and knows his local history. If your time in Jakarta is short, this full-day tour encompasses all the must see landmarks: Barack Obama’s old school, the catholic cathedral, Istiqlal mosque (the third largest in the world!), the national monument, a Confucian Chinese temple, the Dutch colonial centre of Jakarta (Cafe Batavia is a must) and the old port of Sunda Kalapa with its Pinisi boats.
I thoroughly recommend this tour and Ferdy is a delight. His English is excellent, he has a relaxed manner and is happy to accommodate anything you particularly want to see. A first rate experience.
Thank you Ferdy for a wonderful day exploring Jakarta and learning about Javanese culture and history.

It was a great idea to book this trip on my ‘36hr in Jakarta’ and get in all the sites and places of interest in one go. Including some great street food and Obama’s primeray school! Ferdy was a fun and knowledgeable guide. Thanks!

Ferdy, our guide, was knowledgeable, personable, spoke good English, and made every effort to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. He even surprised my husband with a special birthday dessert at the Batavia restaurant and also drove us to see lovely batik clothing at an upscale store. Our driver was amazing, too, patiently navigating the massive traffic. I highly recommend this heritage tour itinerary led by a truly wonderful guide.

My guide Saleh and the driver came and picked me up from my hotel lobby. Which is one of the reasons why I chose my trip accordingly as not many offers a pickup from where you are.
My day started from the monument to the largest mosque in SEA, to the oldest church and a Buddhist temple, followed by Chinatown market walkabout, a tuk tuk ride ( I forgot what they called it in Jakarta ), the museum and a stroll along in old town of Batavia. The museum is fairly small but carries enough historical finds from the early ancient times.
Batavia Cafe is a must do! Beautiful structure with a great historical story and amazing service. They accept all major credit cards and cash.
A stop at Makutharama Puppet studio for a quick show and display of Wayang Kulit was the highlight for me. And yes, they accept credit cards and cash if you end up buying the wayang Kulit characters.
I even had a chance to witness the famous Phinisi sailing boat at work, which they're still using it till this day.
Saleh is very knowledgeable and he can answer pretty much all the questions regarding Jakarta all the way back to the ancient times. And my driver made sure our journey runs smoothly throughout the trip. I started at 9am and back at the hotel around 4pm ( with traffic in between of course ).
I had a nasi padang at Simpang Raya Maggarai where you get to choose all the variety dish to go with your white rice. Satisfying and a full tummy guaranteed!
Wear something light as it can get really hot ( plus humid ), and they did provide me with water bottle as well. Overall, it was a great day out, to get to know Jakarta a little more from the local guide. Thank you for making my day a memorable one.

We had an amazing day in Jakarta with a charming young guide ( she works as a teacher), who gave us a lot of information about the places in Jakarta as well about general life in indonesia and history. We saw temples, china town, the big mosque, churches, indonesian puppet theater ( I love it!) , old town and had the chance to go for individual wishes.
So this tour was a good choice to pick a glance if Jakartas spirit.
And lunch in Cafe Batavia is also worth doing- full of historic charme and best kitchen - international and typical indonesian as well.
