Do yourself a favor and sign up for this day trip out of Lima! This was one of the first things we did upon landing in Peru and my boyfriend and I, a couple in our early 40's, agreed that if our trip had ended right then and there we would have been happy. As it was we continued on for over two weeks with an Amazon River cruise, a hike to Rainbow Mountain and a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu, and at the end we still both decided that this excursion was the coolest part of our entire vacation.
Yes, it is an early pickup, but the bus was comfortable, and the way they break up the trip down to Huacachina really made the early wake up easier to bear. The Paracas speedboat tour was a lot of fun. The only downside to this stop is that the coffee was horrible at the cafe where they stop for breakfast. As far as the tour its-self we saw all of the animals we expected, sea lions, penguins, and blue-footed boobies among other sea birds, and the rock formations were beautiful. The next stop at the winery was nice and the included lunch was delicious. Then on to the oasis! Huacachina was a beautiful gem in a desert the vastness of which I had no idea existed in South America. The dune buggy ride was exciting, like the wildest roller coaster I've ever been on, and with 3 roughly 10-15 minute rides throughout the experience it was well worth every dollar spent on the trip. The sand boarding, even though we were only laying on our bellies, was exhilarating, and we got to do 2 runs before jumping back in the buggy to chase the sunset - talk about incredible! The ride back was long, but we were exhausted and selpt for most of it, and they dropped us off when they said they would.
A final note is for our guide, Aaron. He really did a stellar job of taking care of the entire crew which wasn't terribly large, but included children, a couple elderly guests and a mix of singles and small groups or couples. Also we spoke different languages and he easily switched from English to Spanish narration throughout, which I give him all the credit in the world for. This isn't the cheapest tour you will find to this incredible destination, but I will say they really made this long day the absolute best it could be!

Overall a very lovely tour. We were picked up promptly (a few minutes early) at our Lima (Barranco) hotel and we were off. The first stop was in Paracas, where we had a tasty breakfast before boarding out boats for the Ballestas Islands tour. We saw Penguins, sea lions, and many different birds. The narrator gave us a good overview of the area, and its history.
Next we went to the Pisco winery and had a lovely lunch. The food was fresh but not particularly exceptional. After lunch they explain how they make Pisco and do a little mini tour of the property, followed by a tasting. The highlight was the tasting of the various liquors. They only gave us a small taste (but it was strong), and you could purchase drinks from the bar. We chose not to indulge as we didn't think drunk sand boarding was a good plan, but there was a contingent of young folks in our tour that took full advantage. I got a kick out of it.
The sand boarding was exhilirating. First they take you on the dune buggies which are quite bumpy and they try to scare you by zooming up and down. I laughed a lot. The sand boarding was a bit intimidating on the first go around, but I just took a deep breath and went for it. It was quite a thrill. We only got to go twice, would have been nice to do one more run. After boarding we watched the sunset which was gorgeous, then it was back to the oasis to pick up our dinner which had been pre-ordered.
We had arranged to be dropped back off in Paracas rather than head back to Lima. Overall our guide George was wonderful, and all the activities were a lot of fun. If you have a few days to spare in Lima prior to heading on to Cusco or other sites, highly recommend doing this little tour.

Great comms a day prior to the tour. Pick up was on time. Good time management on each leg of the tour - not slow/not rushed. Bus was clean and comfy. Good value for tour price. Food included were delish. Excellent vibes throughout the day. Perfect tour guide - thanks, Aaron!

A long day but well worth it with all the great activities involved. First in Paracas with a 2 hour boat ride to see the Candelabra and wildlife at Ballestas Islands (weather kind of gloomy at the time and wildlife probably more abundant during summer/peak season, also for those who get easily seasick you may want to take medication prior though seawater not too rough, be careful too as boat driver may make sudden turns). Then off to pisco vineyard (Pisco Cultur) with a very delicious lunch and fun opportunity to dry different piscos. However for me the last excursion is truly the best - Huacachina with a wild desert buggy ride, board sliding on high sand dunes, and watching beautiful sunset to cap off an amazing day. Tour guide (Aaron) was professional, fun, and helpful and driver (unfortunately I forgot his name) was very good in getting us to the sites on time and safely. I was doubtful at first with such an early pick up time and questionable weather but believe me as it turned out to be one of the best tours I’ve done!

Nos encantó visitar las dunas de la Huacachina . Aaron siempre fue muy atento, alegre y pendiente en todo momento de apoyar y hacernos disfrutar el viaje a lo máximo … lo recomiendo muchísimo . Vale la pena totalmente

Estuvimos en Peru a inicios de Septiembre y decidimos tomar el tour. Teníamos de guía a Edwin y de conductor a Oscar.
El conductor fue muy responsable todo el camino y muy precavido.
Nuestra experiencia con Edwin como guía fue muy buena, de hecho el mejor guía que tuvimos durante nuestra estadía en Peru. Edwin siempre fue muy amable, respetuoso y muy atento. Edwin nos ayudó con las fotos, tenia mucha paciencia , también explicaba siempre los detalles de los lugares que visitamos. Aunque el viaje dura todo el día, en ningún momento sentimos que Edwin nos apuraba, todos sus recomendaciones fueron muy acertadas.
Los restaurantes que visitamos durante el tour estaban de acuerdo a nuestras expectativas: limpios, bonitos, con buena atención y buena comida.
No duden en reservar su tour con esta compañía.

The tour to Paracas and Oasis of Huacachina is simply wonderful. It’s a fantastic experience to navigate the Pacific, see penguins, sea lions and stunning landscapes.
Oasis of Huacachina is a separate spectacle. Film landscapes. The Buggy ride is an adventure. The snorborg, I got scared. The lunch is very delicious and it was very cool to know the production of the Pisco. The Guide Aaron is very friendly, lively and attentive. Exhausting but unavoidable walk.

My wife booked this tour for us online and it was easy to do. I was hesitant about the early pick up time but was so glad we did it. Edwin our tour guide was amazing and his English was perfect. Our driver Bryan was also on time and we didn’t wait at all during the complete tour. Edwin had lots of great information about all of our stops and good shopping tips. This was a full day of travel and tours but I would suggest it to anyone and would totally recommend Edwin as your guide either in Spanish or English.

Can we have bathroom breaks in the morning? It’s also needed to stretch one’s legs. I call these healthy breaks.

I took luggage with me and stayed just outside Paracas.
Lovely accommodation beside the water. Had a really pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

Hello. I am curious about the buses that are used for this trip. I want to make sure they are comfortable, with so much driving in one day. Also, how big is the tour group. Thanks!

The bus had a capacity of approximately 30 people …very comfortable & we were 14 people on the bus …it had space for large bags over our seats as some people were staying over night in Haucachina…also the bus had a washroom & usb charging outlets at each seat

If you like. Both are recommended and can be done in a day. The Ballestas Island tour is an unforgettable experience and can be done in the morning with the evening hike in the park. There is a BnB that is a scallop farm in the park where you can stay over night. They also have a boat tour to the Ballestas Island that has far fewer people on it then the one in town. The advantage is that you are able to get closer to the wild life! And by staying at the bnb you have more time in the park...and fresh scallops!
