It was a fun day overall, but this is more of a shuttle service than a tour. The driver (non english speaking) dropped us off at the national park where an employee took us on the tour. The same that you'd get if you arrived on your own. Then the driver took us to the hot springs and dropped us off. There were no instructions on where to go or what to do. Would be a difficult day if you don't speak any Spanish. I'd check the price of a private driver for the day- it would have the same experience, but you'd be more in control of timing, etc. **Also to note, we left from Antigua, but the other couple came from Guatemala City and had to go out of their way to pick us up = LOTS OF TIME IN THE CAR for them.

This company left us waiting and they never cancelled until after much effort we contacted them. When we called they felt surprised and said the tour was cancelled because there was a crash but then contradicted each other. In the end we talked to another tour company that was next door and they confirmed that if there were some things but nothing that caused a cancellation and in the end we traveled with them. We came all the way from another country to do that and another tour. Too bad they haven't taken the trouble to warn.

We had Claudio for our guide and he was fantastic. We had just the 2 of us so we could hike up as fast as we wanted. The clouds literally parted for us to get great views and pictures. It’s steep up but short so overall pretty easy. The drive from Antigua was super interesting. Our driver was William who gets a 10/10 for stopping so I could grab coffee in the morning. The food at the hot springs was so so but we had so much fun! The ladies that direct you from pool to pool (hot to cold to warm to cold to hot to cold) were super fun and so was everyone there. I hate cold water and they all cheered me on when I got in every time. The mango slushy was so yummy. Then we laid out and relaxed. It was a perfect break after the hike and we made it back to Antigua with plenty of time to still wander around and make dinner reservations.

We walked, rode horse, switched back to walking, carried babies on horseback, and everything in between! The horse guides were convenient and flexible. Marshmellows roasted on hot lava rock awaited us on top! And the picnic lunch was unexpectedly delicious and a beautiful way to chill out on top of the volcano with our family on New years Eve. Our tour guide, Juan Jesus or “JJ” as we fondly called him, was the most phenomenal guide we could’ve asked for. We had a group of 24 relatives ranging from age 8 months old to 74 years old. JJ seamlessly coordinated all of us with patience, grace, humor and kindness. He was always available by text or phone call. Never rushed us or refused to help. He was thoughtful and always attended to our needs. More than anything, he became like a friend or a part of our family. I highly recommend JJ and Kim Kim travel for making our Guatemalan get away a perfect experience!

Would have been helpful to know the additional fee of about $15 per person must be paid in cash. Towels are provided at the hot springs so no need to pack. The drive from Antigua to the park and the hot springs was very nauseating for my family. Those prone to motion sickness should avoid this trip. My son vomited on the bus. Take Dramamine an hour before the travel. Also avoid this trip if you have bad knees or other pain as the hike was difficult for my 70 and 72 year old parents who are in excellent shape.

Definitely was an amazing experience, the hike is moderate to difficult. For those that have a hard time going up, there are locals with horses (fee Q200-300). Once you get up there the views are breathtaking. After the exhausting hike, you get to relax at the hot springs and lunch is included. Overall the crew was amazing and accommodating. If you are looking for an adventure then this is the tour for you.

We had a good driver who did not speak English. Then a second guy who spoke some English rode up with us. A third guy who was the English speaking guide met us up there. I am not clear on why there were so many employees, yet no one had much to say about the volcano or history outside of 5 minutes or so of talking. We didn’t get much of a tour although everyone was pleasant and got us where needed to include bathroom breaks. The lunch was disappointing (dry barbecue chicken breast, pizza, or burger) at a bland more Americanized lunch place. The hot springs are at the lunch/spa place. They have a large pool that may have water from the mountain and several different temperature pools. There is nothing cultural about the lunch or the ‘spa’. For what we paid, we were disappointed. The staff said entry to the spa is about $10 USD and lunch is about $10 USD.
The staff, again, are pleasant. And they ensured one of the people on the tour who had a stomach upset from the day prior was taken care of (rest, nurse, med) on the tour. I’d expect such a tour to be maybe $75. And one could be upset at the false advertising of ‘hot springs’ as it’s more of a spa club with options to lay out or be in hot or cold water.

The hike was medium to low level difficulty, but the altitude made us very short of breath. Incredible views and landscapes.out of our group of 7, three paid for the horses (about $80), and the 4 of us walked. Bring layers - we took the morning hike and it started off chilly, got very warm, then windy at the top. Marshmallow roasting was fun, our group opted to get the pizza from the guy who cooks it over the steam vent. It’s expensive ($50) but was delicious, our group split a large and it fed 8 people. Really unique experience. The horses follow you most of the way up in case you can’t do the hike. Rent the walking stick from the kids in the parking lot, near the top the lava gravel gets slippery.

Very disappointed with the organization of the tour. We got to the hot springs and no one knew who our group was or what had been paid for. Had to call the travel company to confirm they had already paid our entry.
The bus was very nice but there is no avoiding the horrendous traffic in Guatemala City. The people on our bus staying in Guatemala City got picked up at 6am and dropped off at 8pm due to traffic.
I wish there had been more clear communication from the Grey Line Tours

We are sorry that you had to wait a few minutes while the person at the hot springs attended to you, according to our communication log and the report of the hot springs, the time was not more than 5 minutes, as our service indicates, the entrance fee is included.
Regarding the issue of traffic, it is a situation out of our hand and that we cannot control, it is a situation that affects passengers from Guatemala City and not from Antigua, which was your starting point.

We had an amazing time. The hike was not easy but doable. They offer horses to take you up to the volcano if you are struggling to hike up. The views were amazing to see the pacaya volcano itself as well as three other volcanoes. If you come here and expect to see lava, you might be disappointed. We were here in Nov 2021 and everything had been cool off. Nonetheless, we had a great time and great views to the volcanoes.

Hello- I noticed this tour runs from both Antigua and Guatemala City. Would it be possible to be picked up in Antigua, and dropped off (at end of tour) in Guatemala City?
