We happened to be the only two people on this tour, which made it an amazing and intimate experience. Our tour guide Dario expertly adjusted the vibe of the tour by making it more friendly rather than a "tour" per se, and we ended up enjoying lots of hours getting to know each other and Antigua & Guatemala. The food we made actually ended up being very tasty as well, and we greatly appreciated the experience this added to our time. Highly recommend!

Pamela was really informative about local cuisine, culture, and history during the market tour. Dario was hilarious and gave easy to follow instructions. We had to much fun learning the local cuisine, and he also gave great dining recommendations in Antigua.

This was among the best cooking classes I have attended. It began with a guided tour of the food market labyrinth with chef/host Dario, and then we proceeded to the home where guests got their hands on every step of the prep and cooking. For each course, the various tasks were divided among the guests around a large prep table laden with the ingredients, and the chef then showed us how to make the magic happen in the assembly.
For an appetizer, we made dobladas, a hand-made corn tortilla filled with spiced mashed potato and fried, then topped with chopped radish, onion, mint, and lime juice.
The main course was pepián, a spicy chicken stew with carrots, potatoes, tomatillos, and green squash, served over rice.
For dessert, we made rellenitos, mashed plantains filled with Mexican chocolate then fried.
Guests are picked up at their Antigua address and driven to the chef’s house in a nearby village. The kitchen is on the third floor, with a terrace for dining with volcano views.

I had a great experience! ET was an excellent tour guide,
. He is knowledgeable and he knew his facts and information. I felt very special, specially since I was by myself. My experience was one of mutual sharing of experiences and travel tidbits, and gems of wisdom. The tour was not just about street food and culture and practices related to food but a little bit of everything, from history to volcanic eruption, to culture and practices.
I thoroughly enjoyed the street food shown to me and offered to taste. Since I am in the tourist business also, I gained valuable tips in improving what we are doing here and how we can help to make an experience a truly memorable one.
I would recommend this tour to others, furthermore, I would recommend ET anytime. Thank you ET. You were truly an ET…Extra Terrestrial.

This cooking class was incredible! Not only was the food we made delicious, but our guide Rena, and our chefs were incredibly gracious, patient, and fun! We shared many laughs while soaking up the gorgeous views from our rooftop kitchen.
We started the day with a guided tour of the market in Antigua. Rena bought us candies and fruit we’ve never tried. Everything was delicious. The market was a feast for the senses!
The cooking class was broken down in a way that is accessible to cooks of all levels. And the results! We shared a beautiful and traditional meal. My wife and I loved learning about the culture and history of the cuisine. Overall, this was unforgettable experience.

The cooking class was amazing. Everybody had so much fun. Our guide was really good and knowledgable spoke perfect English and our cooking teacher was wonderful and helpful as well. What a fantastic way to get to know antigua and Guatemala cuisine.

We had a wonderful day!
We were picked up on time by Pampa at our hotel and walked 5 minutes to the market. Pampa spoke very, very good English and we got on very well from the start. He was able to give us lots of exciting background information about the market and showed us and explained a lot. We could ask anything and he could answer everything.
We then took a tuktuk to the cooking school, where our English-speaking chef Dario met us. We were given some information about the cooking school and then went to the roof terrace, where the outdoor kitchen was. The view was breathtakingly beautiful!
And then it started: We prepared the fruit we bought at the market and were explained how to eat it. During this time we could choose between three dishes what we wanted to cook.
Our choice:
For a starter we had tostadas with homemade guacamole.
For the main course we prepared jocòn with tortillas. For dessert we had rellenitos.
All in all it was a really nice and pleasant atmosphere. We cooked together with Dario and Pampa and were able to ask lots of questions while we were doing it. It was really nice, totally relaxed and friendly.
At the end we ate together on the roof terrace and were then taken back to the hotel in a tuktuk.

Wonderful trip to market and the cooking class was brilliantly executed and delicious! Our entire family, ages 22-82, had a great time. We enjoyed Pampa and Dario, who were fun and friendly.
