The most amazing experience in All of Rajasthan!
Lovely hosts, amazing view of the osian desert from a camel's back. Such a lovely authentic Homestay, where we helped out with the delicious food for dinner, were taught how to make chai and how to milk a goat. We also decided to do the jeep safari at sunset for 1000 rupees extra, also amazing. Highly recommended!
PS. There is running water in the clay huts, power outlets and wifi(slow). Toilet papir and bottled water on demand.

Absolutely wonderful people and beautiful rural stay in the desert. Yurt huts with spotlessly clean bathrooms, dinner by the fire where we cooked our own fresh roti, then up first thing in the morning for the most beautiful sunrise. Back through dunes, spotting parakeets, eagles, antelope, peacocks to be greeted by chai and breakfast at the homestead. Highly recommended

I first found this experience on TripAdvisor, and while I saw many great reviews, I was initially unsure. However, I trusted my instincts, made the reservation for an overnight stay, and I am so glad I did. There are places we visit, and then there are places that stay with us forever. Dhanna Ram Ki Dhani in Khetasar Village, Osian, is not just a stay—it is a journey into the very heart of Rajasthan’s desert culture. What began as an uncertain booking quickly transformed into one of the most enriching and unforgettable experiences of my travels.
From the moment I reserved our overnight stay, I felt the warmth of this family. Within 15 minutes of booking, Sumer, the eldest son of the family, reached out via WhatsApp. His message was not just a confirmation—it was a heartfelt welcome. He patiently answered all my questions and detailed the journey ahead, setting the stage for something special.
The next day, we were picked up from a central location near the Clock Tower, close to the Step Well Hotel, where we were staying. Another couple from Japan joined us, and our guide, Khanna, the third son of Mr. Dhanna Ram introduced himself with a smile that carried generations of desert wisdom. Our first stop was the Sachai Mata Temple, where we paused to absorb the spiritual energy of this sacred space. Some of us took photos, while others went in for darshan, taking a moment of reverence before heading into the vastness of the Thar Desert.
After a short drive, we arrived at the meeting point where Mr. Dhanna Ram and his camels awaited us. The camels, magnificent in their stature, stood as living symbols of the desert’s resilience. Sumer and his father observed each of us, carefully pairing us with camels that best suited our personalities. My camel, Jigar, felt like an extension of myself—strong, graceful, and patient. The other camels—Michael Jackson, Diamond, and Sonu—each had their own charm and quirks.
Before mounting, we were encouraged to bond with our camels, introduce ourselves, and build trust—a rare and humbling experience. Sumer explained the technique of mounting, how the camels rise—back legs first, then front legs—and the importance of holding on tight. It was a safe and well-guided process filled with laughter and the anticipation of adventure.
As we embarked on our camel trek, the vast desert opened before us, bathed in golden hue, its silence interrupted only by the rhythmic steps of our camels. The journey, nearly an hour and 50 minutes long, was mesmerizing. There is something truly poetic about traveling this way—feeling the desert breeze, watching the endless horizon, and experiencing a mode of travel that has connected nomads and traders for centuries.

I had a wonderful experience. Sumer and his family were very welcoming, his mother’s cooking is excellent.
The jeep ride was very fun but the sunset camel ride was the true highlight of the stay.
Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an authentic and peaceful experience in Rajasthan.

Sumer and his family were all kind hearted and really hospitable during our one night stay! The stay included a complimentary lift from the clock tower in Jodhpur which was very handy to get to the farm. We travelled in a party of 4 and one of our group had their birthday during the stay at the camel safari, Sumer and his family made an effort baking a cake for all of us to have which was a lovely touch! All the family were so hospitable and they let all of us get involved in making the Roti’s which were eventually served with dinner, which was delicious!
We also enjoyed a sunset jeep ride (for 2k Rupee extra for the 4 of us) and a sunrise camel tour which was included with both being an incredible experience and some of our highlights travelling India.
The only negative to point out was the fact that all the animals that were on site were kept on short tethers/chains and weren’t able to have any freedom at all. The animals included the camels, cows, goats and even a dog which was quite sad to see and we feel it was unnecessary for the animals to be so restricted with their leads.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend staying here as it was an incredible experience and well worth the money we paid.

In our village, animals are traditionally tied to keep them safe from predators and to prevent them from wandering into fields or roads. However, they are not always tethered. They stay in the enclosure for about 4 to 5 days a week, and for the remaining 2 to 3 days, they roam freely in the desert. This balance ensures their safety while allowing them time to explore their natural surroundings.
