The bus arrived exactly on time. The ruins are a must see in this area, it is like a travel back in time. Our guide told a lot of interesting details, but also let us wandering around on our own, it was perfect. In Aspendos we had half an hour, enough time to walk through it all (even to the top of it :).
The waterfall was a different one, but we did not mind. The river, the environment is beautiful, it is a big area and the walk to the waterfall was fascinating also. There is a possibility to go behind the waterfall in a cave, we went sideways, but to completely go behind, I suggest a raincoat.
This was one of my favourite days in Turkey.

We booked this trip via Viator and were really excited to see everything especially since I had not been to Side before.
The bus was 20 min late to pick us up and then we were informed the schedule for the day: Side ruins, Aspendos, lunch (in the most disgusting restaurant possible - see photos), shopping ( this meant going to a compulsory jewellery shop which was not advertised during the booking) then waterfall - Duden waterfalls as opposed to Kursunlu, which was the initial plan) then Turkish delight factory (which was exciting even though not part of the plan).
Side - First of all, I didn't appreciate the fact that the tour, which had a guide, was just a walk around Side ruins with extremely basic explanations. If I knew that was the case, we would have rented a car for the day instead of going around with this guy, who was really nice tbh, but didn't seem to have a clue about history. We paid this price to actually have a tour guide and learn something, not just walk around the ruins, take photos and not be allowed to go into souvenir shops if I chose to "because he wouldn't be able to find us" - which is fair enough, but we didn't even have the liberty to walk around reading the signs which told us what we were seeing because he kept on telling us to keep going so we wouldn't be late! However, Side is a really beautiful place and if I were in this area again I would consider visiting it with a more knowledgeable guide, or by myself, so I can take my time and really look around!
Aspendos - not my first time there, but the guide didn't even come with us to tell us what we were seeing. He scanned our tickets in and let us wonder around for 35 min. Aspendos is definitely something to see but I think it's not worth doing it as part of this tour since they don't explain the first thing about it.
Lunch - don't even get me started on that! we got to choose whether we wanted chicken, meatballs or a mix, we all chose a mix. When we got to this place my only thought was "please don't make me eat here in case I die". It was horrific. We had been rafting the day before this trip and the little place where we had lunch (soaked in river water) was much better and exceeded expectations. Here, you could have unlimited starters (if you dared) and then when we went into the restaurant we could see flies flying around and sitting on our food - eww. The place was next to the river so it was a shame we didn't even get to sit outside (even though they had sitting outside - disgusting, but outside, facing the river). There was also a cat, and as much as I like cats, it was quite disturbing to see it walking on the table next to ours demanding to be fed. Also, drinks are not included. We didn't order anything because we were slightly terrified, but a beer would have been 4 euros. I strongly suggest if you plan to go on this trip to have at least a little snack in case you decide the food and the 'restaurant' is not for you.
Jewellery shop - quite common based on the previous tours I've had in the south of Turkey. We didn't buy anything, but if you have the patience to look through all the things they offer you might be able to find some really nice things - however, everything is extremely expensive (££££).
Duden waterfalls - well, first of all not what we were supposed to see based on what we booked but in the end it was quite impressive so we were really happy with this part! We were actually quite sad we didn't just have a packed lunch that we could eat in the park by the waterfall as this would have been a much nicer experience. There are also some terraces just by the river which had an awesome view so I would have loved more time here. Also there is a bat cave just by the waterfall and it stinks (literally) so we walked past it (so no idea if there were any bats there or not).
Turkish delight - our understanding in the morning was that we will learn more about how turkish delight is made and then taste it and be able to buy it. We did taste it and we did buy it. It was extremely tasty but we still know basically nothing about it.
All in all, it was a great day despite everything that didn't go quite right but we can't recommend this tour. We would have been much happier having a car and being able to spend as much time as we wanted visiting the attractions this tour outlined, having a decent lunch and maybe buy a souvenir if we chose to.

So we booked the Full-Day Tour of Kursunlu Waterfalls, Aspendos, and Ancient Ruins of Side From Alanya.
We booked this through Tripadvisor. On booking, it advised default pick up time was 0815hrs but stated we need to make contact with the company to confirm. Our hotel called and were told 0800hrs. I also emailed the company and they said 0815hrs. So waited outside from 0800hrs to be on the safe side.
As expected bus arrived at 0815hrs. Met by our tour guide i would mention his name but he never told us. He stated that he normally does the Russian tours but we would be with him. We picked up from several other hotels. There were two other English people and about 10 Russians.
From the start we were pretty much left out of most the chats from the Guide who spoke in Russian.
Through out the day it got considerably worse. It was all quite funny to begin with but soon became damn right rude. We had paid for this tour that was listed as English and we were very much left to feel that we had gate crashed someone's party and were not welcome.
The guide continued to only engage with the Russian speaking customers whilst we sat there having no idea what was going on.
When the guide had spoken to us in the morning, his English was very poor making it hard to understand anything he said to us anyway.
This tour is not for English only speaking people.
Saw some interesting sites. Lunch was fine, tasted nice but was quite small.
The waterfall was disappointing, it was very small. Over crowded so not very peaceful. The area has been taken over as a tourist attraction with lots of shops.
It's a long day. We didn't get back to the hotel until 1830hrs.
To top it off the driver drove past our hotel and dropped us off on the wrong side of a busy road.

We enjoyed a lot especially the cave.
However the tour is a little lengthy for kids and by the end they were too tired.

Waterfalls are lovely but would advise anyone with mobility problems there are a lot of steps that don't have handrails. Aspendos is amazing, but again anyone with mobility issues would not get the full experience

Took this trip this week and its amazing, We would never have found it without a tour but so glad we did. Just note that if you hire a car these places cost pennys to get it. We did a trip from Alanya which included Side temples and the waterfall and it cost £28 all in. Only problem was we only had a short time here and there is so much more to see around it.
