Wonderful bike tour

The bike tour with Ray was the highlight of our trip to Kyoto. In addition to the Arashiyama bamboo forest, we visited several other interesting sites and greatly enjoyed Ray's stories. The tour was a perfect mix of cycling and stopping to see things along the way. My whole family, including our 10 and 12 year olds, had a great time. They typically have a short attention span when listening to guides, but they were also captivated by Ray's interesting explanations and anecdotes. Ray took several great family photos for us, as well. We highly recommend this tour!

Outstanding Bike Tour & Access to Sites

OUTSTANDING!!!! We had a great time on this early bird Bamboo Bike Tour. The value for the experience was well worth the money, time and little bit of effort. (Ok, so there was a little pedaling involved.) We covered everything from Bamboo Forrest through local traditions.

Ray was our tour guide and he was very customer service oriented. 20+ years in Japan, he knows the geography, history, culture and language. Yes, he also speaks fluent English.

The group we toured with was fun and contributed to the tour experience.

Highly recommend this bike tour (or any bike tour) with Kyoto Bike Tour!!!! The equipment was in great condition and so was the tour guide!

The best part of our Kyoto trip! Ray was an amazing guide. He provided insight and direction on places we would have never ventured to on our own. He allowed the group to linger when wanted and adjusted to the conditions. Thank you so much for providing us wonderful memories!

One of the best cycle tours that I’ve been on…
I can not rate this tour highly enough. I really felt that Ray was showing us his home town. His depth of history, knowledge of Japanese culture and tradition is outstanding. The bikes are very well maintained and his safety briefing was perfect.
If this is the one tie that you do in Kyoto… this is the one!

We had an amazing time on the bike tour. It was great to get going early to beat the crowds in the bamboo forest. Ray was really kind and awesome- he is super knowledgeable and we learned so many new facts. He also took us to places we never would've known to go to, which was great. I highly recommend this trip!

Must-do for visitors with limited time

I spent ~4 hours cycling and walking through Arashiyama on a breezy spring morning and have already learned so much more about Kyoto and its culture than the previous two days I spent getting around the city.

Our guide, Ray, is the highlight of this experience. Not only is he a consummate student of Japanese history and culture, he is also a fluid storyteller and attentive tour leader who is always mindful of his guests' safety. Ray took us to verdant bamboo forests, serene Buddhist temples, and secluded Shinto shrines, and generously explained the history and significance of each locale from start to finish. Starting early in the morning meant we could converse and enjoy the amazing sights with few distractions.

There is so much to see in Kyoto and I highly recommend this tour to first-time visitors who plan to stay for less than 4 nights here. You are in for an unforgettable experience!

We really enjoyed this cycle tour, Ray was a great guide with so much local knowledge. We saw sites we never would have found on our own and enjoyed the company of the other people on the tour. Ray also gave us a fabulous recommendation for lunch the Japanese curry was special !

We definitely recommend this tour! We had limited time in Kyoto and this tour is a must. We had such a wonderful time and learned a lot along the bike ride (which was quite enjoyable). Definitely recommend to both families and couples!

Highly recommend as a must do in Kyoto!
I was lucky enough to have a tour on my own with Ray and had an incredible experience. He took me to lots of places some off the Beaton track and the main sights as well. Starting early meant we got to see sight such as the bamboo forest before the crowds and is well worth getting up early for! Ray has lived in Japan for 20 years and is full of interesting information and knowledge. I don’t think there was a question I had he couldn’t answer. He also took some amazing pictures on the tour he sent me afterwards which as I am travelling alone are really special memories of my time. Highly recommend!

A must do when you visit Kyoto!

This was a great tour! I highly recommend if you are in Kyoto... Not only did Ray do an amazing and thoughtful job explaining everything we saw on the tour, but he also gave great insight to the culture and history of Japan in general. I would recommend doing this as one of the first things you do when you get to Kyoto as the context Ray gave provided a great knowledge base for me to continue exploring the city. Ray's passion for and knowledge about Japan really shown through in this tour and I learned so much from him. A do not miss if you are in Kyoto!
