I took 2 day tour from Delhi to Jaipur.
Trip and schedule was planned well. Even though time was short, there was still enough time to see many interesting sites. Specially I enjoyed Amber fort in Jaipur.
Everything on tour worked well, I was picked up by Azad from Delhi airport and as I wanted to take my onward flight from Jaipur, Azad easily organised the schedule so that I was able to do it. Also, as I am very interested in photography, Azad and local guides were able to take my wishes in to account, and I got many excellent photos :)
Practicalities also worked well. Car was in good condition, Azad was safe driver and also 3 star hotel (in my case 7 Apples) I stayed in Jaipur was pleasant, and I even had view on water palace from my room window. During the stops, local guides helped with the tickets and even in cases allowed us to skip longer waits to attractions. Naturally driver and guides provided valuable insight in to sights and also to culture.
Would highly recommend!

Best part of my ride was the driver Joginder who since day 1 impressed with his finesse driving skills. He has 25+ years of experience and his confidence and command of Golden Triangle Road shows. He also had such good local connections since he’s been doing this tour for some time. As an example, when I arrived in Agra I was suffering from a terrible headache and was prepared to go to one of the known branded hotels spa. Instead, he recommended a local hotel with local Ayurvedic massage place, which was no frills but fraction of price and more in line to support the locals. Having spent over 15 hours with him over 3 days, he’s also regaled me with many stories showing local know how and of course of his family. Best ask him about his daughter and you’ll see what a splendid caring person you’ve been entrusted to!
I want to caveat that this trip fit what I needed and will highlight some pluses and negatives to think about, as I Best part of my ride was the driver Joginder who since day 1 impressed with his finesse driving skills. I want to caveat that this trip fit what I needed and will highlight some pluses and negatives to think about, as I think some of these things are subjective:
Some things to think about:
- the journey can be quite long and you’re spending half the days driving. As an unprepared tourist who didn’t map things out I didn’t realize that Delhi to Agra and then Agra to Jaipur and then Jaipur to Delhi all are roughly 4 to 5 hours each way give or take. I wanted to see all was ok to jam pack a long weekend so this suited me.
- you should be realistic about what the price point gets you. Already mentioned that this gets you at least 15 hours of driver time door to door. You also get hotels with breakfast covered. Given that, don’t expect much from these hotels Rated mostly at 3 stars, they are bare bones. 1 I wasn’t too keen on because well they had loud guests yelling in the hallways as if it was their own private home. The other was nicer but AC didn’t work and staff struggled with communication (not a fault and surely balanced by their kind gestures).
- Expect to also be driven to different shops. I suppose my tolerance for these are high given that I think this is common practice all over Asia. Let’s be realistic that this is part of partaking in tourism. Most of the communities along the way depend on this tourism and I think it’s smart that tourism groups partner with them. I was led to tea/spice shop & cashmere/clothing/textiles in Delhi; also led to crafts shop in Agra; jewelry in Jaipur. Look you can do the polite thing and have a look if shopping isn’t really your thing but again expect this to be part of the experience!
Some of the gems:
- Bidas from Fatehpur Sikhi was by far the most knowledgeable local tour guide. Don’t miss listening to him!
- The Taj, no matter what, is even more breath taking in person. Take your local guide’s tip and hire a photographer who will expertly yell at your fellow tourist to get that exceptional clean shot of you and the monument. I managed to haggle and get 35 pics out of 70+ taken digitally sold to me for $20
- embrace the chaos, you’re truly in a special part of the world and definitely don’t hesitate to communicate your wants and needs. I managed to get a no frills yoga session in Jaipur from local man (by no frills I mean literally in his garage) by asking my hotel. It’s not luxurious but it’s a lesson from a genuine practitioner who will school you in breathing. I also managed to get a local astrologer reading if that’s your thing. Again, just ask and someone will look for something that fits your needs. Take everything with grain of salt and always know what your price point is and be willing to share your blessings as a tourist with more means than most people you’ll encounter.

This tour was quite the experience, each day was packed with a flood of culture and history. I highly recommend utilizing this service to experience a tour through New Delhi and Jaipur.
My first day was filled with an overwhelming current of culture in Old Delhi. My guide, Jimmy Sharma, was a true master of the city. Bubbling with wisdom and humor, Jimmy introduced me to the finest tastes and fabrics of India. Having Jimmy around that firsr day in New Delhi is truly helpful to being introduced to the bustling city. His wisdom is almost overwhelming!
The second day was a marvel at just the size of the things you see in Jaipur. From the forts and the elephant's, to the lavish lifestyles of the Rajastani Kings you're sure to be astonished. My second guide Devi was very good to meet and learn from. Devi seemed to be able to speak with brevity on every question I asked him relating to the area were in and it's history. His knowledge seemed to rival even Jimmy's from the day before. We visited palaces, jewelry shops, and a place that seemed like something from a Jackie Chan movie; vases and statues recovered from the surrounding area. Awesome place with a funny and knowlegable staff.
Lastly, the driver Jitu is the man. He can move so effectively in that democratic Delhi traffic with no problems whatsoever. I cannot understand how people do it. He always had on a smile, and free wi-fi!
My tips for the trip: try not to spend too much money at each place, there's a lot to see so go slow. One jewelry store owner in Jaipur got a little upset with me when he found out I didn't have enough money to buy anything.
Be careful what you buy and make sure you can maintain contact with the vendors outside of the tour agency for any issues.
Conclusion: Definitely try this tour, and bring friends.
