This was a fabulous private walking tour exploring the real Kolkata. The tour was an explosion on the senses; smells, sights, sounds and a real experience that is worth doing. The walk was hot and humid. We explored the back alleys, the many temples and religious places of worship all near each other. This was supported by Kaushiks excellent narration, he knows hus history. It was well worth doing. The flower market was very interesting, learning about the journey of the flowers to the market, observing how each seller chooses their niche in the floral market, and the beauty that shines through in the busy, bustling market area. We finished the walking tour in a bus, an experience! If you have watched the roads, being right in the flow of it in a bus, bouncing around, was a fun way to conclude tour. I felt safe, supported, entertained and educated. Thank you.

I cannot begin to say enough flattering things about K.C. and his Kolkata Story Tours. I am American and was visiting Kolkata for the first time and he was the true cherry on our vacay sundae.
1. His car was clean, comfy and had great AC which was amazing because it was the beginning of summer season and crazy hot.
2. He had a relaxed vibe and was all about catering to where we wanted to visit but was able to throw in extra stops to maximize our experience. K.C. is incredibly personable. We never felt awkward or uncomfortable.
3. His knowledge of the area was impressive and he shared in depth information about the history of not just Kolkata but India as a whole.
4. He was kind and a true joy to spend a day with. K.C. was genuinely interested in our Kolkata tour. He even drove us by his office to check out the mongoose family that lives in the grove behind the building.
I highly recommend booking tour with Kolkata Story Tours. 11/10 You won’t regret it.

KC (Kaushik Chatterjee) was an exceptional guide as he shared Kolkata with our family. Our day started at the flower market followed by chai tea along the Ganges river, a tour through areas of theater, music, arts, and academics all while learning about the fascinating history and culture of the Kolkata and India. KC was always attentive to the needs of our group and coordinated with our schedule. Having a personal guide who shared not just knowledge but a love and passion for his home left us with our own special bond to Kolkata.

Kaushik (KC) took my family and another family on an incredible customized day trip tour of Kolkata. He was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned so much about the amazing city of Kolkata. He took fabulous care of us and I highly recommend his services.

We are living in Southern India for the year and had some time at Christmas to travel. We spent a day and a half with Kaushik as part of a very busy itinerary and it was it was one of the most fascinating parts of our trip. We had an issue with our flight which meant we arrived later than anticipated, Kaushik was very accommodating, starting the tour slightly later and organising to spend part of the next day with us which was not initially planned.
My husband is very interested in history and I love street food, Kaushik incorporated both of these into our tour, also showing us the ‘real’ Kolkata, we travelled by numerous methods of public transport and retraced some of the steps of Saroo in the film Lion.
If you want to do more than just tick the tourist boxes, and really understand the city we would thoroughly recommend Kolkata Story Tours.
My husband is very interested in history and I love street food, Kaushik incorporated both of these into our tour, also showing us the ‘real’ Kolkata, we travelled by numerous methods of public transport and retraced some of the steps of Saroo in the film Lion.

I had taken a customized day long trip, accompanied by about 8 guests who were visiting Kolkata (and India) for the first time. I should refer to our tour guide rather as a storyteller - he is very knowledgeable about the history of even every minor topic on Kolkata and the evolution of Kolkata to Calcutta to Kolkata again, over 4 centuries. The visitors were highly impressed. I should mention Mr Kaushik Chatterjee specially - he was always very respectful of the needs of the visitors. He had his unique style of humor, history and flexibility which made the tour truly enjoyable and something to remember. If you are looking to really know Kolkata, give Kolkata Story tours a call.

Highly recommended! Kaushik's love for the city is very evident from the breadth and depth of his knowledge. A tour with him is a real treat for the curious tourist, who loves to go beyond the mere 'selfie clicking' ritual most tours follow.

Communication with Kaushik was straight forward, he replied to all our questions with a prompt reply and worked out our customised tour in the best way, including all sights we were interested in. He picked us up at the agreed meeting point on time, and off we were on a fantastic day tour - including all sights we planned to see, using all forms of public transport (Kaushik offers the tour also with private A/C vehicle but we preferred to use public transport).
At no point did Kaushik try to skip a place, and / or to drag us into tourist / souvenir shops. Kaushik is not the "normal" tourist guide but a person deeply interested in history, highly educated and well read, and willing to share his immense knowledge and love for Kolkata with you. He speaks excellent English, is very polite and also entertaining, sharing interesting stories along the way. The hours flew in, trying tasty street food, visiting so many places, sharing stories, pointing out details we would have never noted ourselves .... a day highly recommended for first timers and repeat visitors of this interesting town. Would always book him again if we return!

As a female, solo traveller I was nervous about exploring Kolkata and Kaushik made coming to Kolkata worth it! He made the city come to life as we explored colonial buildings, flower markets and old Kolkata streets with stories, anecdotes and a superior eye for detail. I felt safe and reassured with Kaushik in a city that can feel at times complex to navigate. It was a delightful tour, and I loved every minute which was customised to visit the places I wanted to see and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely 5*
