We did this as our first tour in Costa Rica, and it was so worth it seeing all the Sloths because there were some people we met in the coming weeks who hadn't seen a single Sloth yet (they hadn't done this tour, that's why!) we saw three-toed and two-toed sloths, many were mother and baby together. The guide David was really good at spotting all the Sloths, some were hard to spot and he had a really sharp eye. He also spotted some lizards and frogs and talked about some of the trees around. It was so good seeing so many sloths and we got some videos on our phones of them as they were very active when we went! Also glad we got the guided tour as the self-guided people were walking around aimlessly not seeing things.

Excellent experience. Our tour was a small group of 9 people, iur tour guise was extremely helpful and patient, so at each sighting, everyone had a chance to see the sloths and get a photo through the scope. She was very knowledgeable and helpful

I never had the opportunity of observing a sloth before so I said why not? To my surprise, it wasn't only sloths that we saw, there were colorful frogs, fishes, turtles, lizards, many birds, and even an iguana. I was happy that we could support the workers and guides from this place with our visit. They seem to have the knowledge and while I felt that they could use a bit more training, they do their the best they can to make this a good experience. We learned a lot about sloths and saw them in their natural habitat so the tour was worth it.

We went to the Sloth Watching Trail because a friend told us it was good for bird watching. It seemed expensive for birding, but the sloth watching was incredible! We saw both 3-toed and 2-toed sloths, and one of the three-toed sloths was actually two - a mother and baby. They were so adorable! The guide was excellent, and we managed to see birds and poison-dart frogs along the way. Yes - it’s worth the money! We went with low expectations, and were very pleasantly surprised. Recommended!

Very informative, saw a handful of sloths and learned about the whole area! Wouldn’t have seen half the sloths without our amazing tour guide.

Guided tour with Wesler (might not have the spelling correct) was incredible. He found 5 sloths, identified many bird, frogs, bats & a scary spider. Definitely worth having the guide!

Our entire group had an amazing time on this tour. Randall was so knowledgeable about the animals and plants, and he went above and beyond to find 5 sloths and many other animals. I would not do this walk without a guide.

Una experiencia magnÃfica viendo gran cantidad de animales y por supuesto gracias a nuestra guÃa Mar que con su imprescindible ayuda para localizarlos y explicaciones hizo que merecerÃa la pena.

I like to support the guides, but our specific experience was VERY POOR. It was booked through our hotel and we have informed them of our safety concerns:
PART 1: Sloths - good, saw sloths.
Our Guide had Minimal Knowledge. He had the telescope and pointed out sloths, but minimal INFO was given about the sloths. Another traveler answered questions for us.
FYI- if you don't pay for a guide seem like you can just follow the tour guide to see the sloths. I thought the guide might tell us something about the sloths.
PART 2: Coffee/Chocolate/Sugarcane: NOT A REAL TOUR experience.
Staff were at the location but seems there was no guide, so the same Sloth-guide from above said "I guess I'm your guide"-- he gave personal anecdotes but no history. We had one cup of coffee, then he kept bringing out alcohol (even though we said multiple times we didn't drink). It got dark and he had been consuming both wine and some other liquor, at which point a machete came out to cut sugarcane, we tried to think maybe there were others around and cutting sugarcane is part of the experience-- BUT it got late we were 2 women ALONE in the DARK with this uninformed guide. He then wanted to show us animals at night which seemed nice enough but we were no longer comfortable and were ready to leave - BUT WE HAD NO RIDE (which had been included when we booked this tour).
so, 2 women walked back in the dark. Thankfully the town is safe, but the experience itself was uncomfortable and highly irregular for a scheduled tour. I would reconsider the coffee/chocolate/sugarcane component.
Recommendations for the company:
-If no guides are available, they should reschedule or offer a refund/alternative.
-Ensure all tourists have left before you leave for the day.
-Maybe reconsider having alcohol and machetes in the same place? :-P

I feel sad to hear this. We are doing the best always to teach to the tour guides, the perfect information about animals as sloth and another. We work with them many month to prepare them for these tours.
I promise we are checking this information we our staff, for never happen again. We appreciate your feedback.

Grata experiencia con nuestro excelente guÃa Wesler.
Nos explico todo sobre los perezosos y la fauna que hay en ese "parque", incluidas aves, ranas, serpientes.
Incluso pudimos hacer fotos.
Merece la pena hacer la visita guiada, de otra forma es muy complicado encontrarlos.
