Great Day in Puntarenas

Had great experiences, especially the Monkeys and the river cruise to see crocodiles and birds.

Also doing the tour in a small group was excellent.

I would like to let the travelers know that Manuel Antonio trip hosted by Odyssey is terrible. I feel very ashamed to have sent my parents to live such a stressful experience due there were no animals to see and the guides were very careless as they left my parents waiting for one hour and a half in the encounter point.

A Superb Day Excursion
We were looking for a private land tour of the area to fit in with our arrival by cruise ship in Puntarenas. Having done some research on YouTube, and Trip Advisor my wife decided to book with Odyssey. Communication with the company was quick and efficient and everything they promised they delivered in full. We were a group of six people and it was great to have a whole van to ourselves. Our guide was Ronald, who spoke very good English and did everything he could to accommodate our preferences and interests. An excellent lunch was included, and the highlight of the day had to be sailing down the Tarcoles River where we saw an amazing range of wildlife, and had the opportunity to get up close with some massive crocodiles. We didn’t have to pay until the tour was over and payment by card was accepted. A thoroughly great day was enjoyed by all and we recommend this company.

Wild life a bit scarcer than expected .
We enjoyed the day very much and as there were only 10 of us from a cruise ship it was very personable.We did see crocodiles etc and the weather was good that day.We expected a lunch to be included as per the tour description but had to pay and it was very reasonable so no worries.Please make sure this is explained beforehand.

NOT a 10 in 1 tour as described--we were baited and then switched.

We paid for the '10 in 1 Highlights tour. ' After walking off the CR cruise ship pier, we were met by a person who had our names on his board, and he told us that the 10 in 1 tour didn't not have enough people to reserve that tour so we were told by the tour operator to incorporate his tour with us. The tour guide was nice, but the tour was not as described online. After view the crocodiles under the bridge, we had a long ride in a nice small bus to the top of a jungle mountain. Our goal was to climb on narrow paths and walk across 3 suspension bridges to reach the top of the mountain. We are 80/81 years old, and I have a bit of vertigo--this was not good. Another couple had a walker and instead went on a bumpy cart ride that was jarring. Walking up a mountain/ suspension bridges were not mentioned on the online ad. We did not see any macaws or monkeys anywhere on the trip nor were we told by the guide that we would see any. The crocodile boat ride was fascinating.
We received no lunch, which the guide said if we had lunch we would have to pay for it. This tour was not as described in the traveladvisor advertisement online. Other people on the tour did not pay as much as we did. We should get a refund, but probably not going to. Don't believe everything you read!!!!

Good introduction to Costa Rica

We signed up at the last moment and were lucky to get the last two seats on a 10 person bus. The tour was great and a great value, considering how many things we saw and did. The monkeys eating bananas out of our hands and sitting on our shoulders and seeing crocodiles up close were definitely the highlights, but we also saw many beautiful places, stopped at a good souvenir shop, and had a nice lunch.

Puntarenas port, Costa Rica, Odyssey Tours
We had such a great day. We visited Costa Rica off a cruise ship. We had set up the tour prior to our cruise. Alvaro responded promptly to our inquiries. We discussed the itinerary and the cost. We didn’t have to pay anything upfront. We had a confirmation email a few days prior to the trip. There were a few delays as the ship took longer than expected to get clearance to disembark, but the Odyssey van was waiting for us with a sign outside the pier gates. It was a new Mercedes’ with air conditioned, 10 seater? with wifi. It was very comfortable. There were just the four friends in our group. We had a driver, Diego and a guide named Albert.
Albert was fabulous. He was personable, knowledgeable, extremely professional and very accommodating. He modified the day to better meet our needs and our time frame. We visited the monkeys and got up close and personal with the monkeys. That was a lot of fun. We saw a number of tropical birds on route. He even set up a telescope so we could get a better view. We got some great scenic views for photos.
We took a boat ride with just us down the Tarcoles river. Our river boat guide, Jasen was amazing. He took us to all the best spots to see crocodiles. We got some pretty wild video footage.
We saw quite a lot of the local scenery and sites. We also had a delicious authentic lunch and tropical fruit smoothies. It was a full day. It was extremely worthwhile and great value for the money. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company and our guide Albert

Extremely pleased with tour and Odyssey overall

After our ship board tour was cancelled, we learned about the 10 in 1 Puntarenas Highlights tour from a fellow passenger.
I emailed the company as was pleasantly surprised not only at the prompt response, but they also said it would be no problem for my husband and I to join the tour last minute.
We had a wonderful tour experience. The guides, drivers etc... were fantastic.
I highly recommend this tour to everyone. The price was extremely resonable as well. Great lunch as well.

Thank you Odyssey for a great day

Fun tour, but it should be trimmed down to "4 in one"

We took this tour on October 8th, 2021 as part of the first cruise ship to dock in Puntarenas since the start of the pandemic. The staff and vehicles on this tour are top notch. Newer vans with great A/C and superb English speaking guides. The highlight is the croc boat tour, which was very safe, relaxing, and enjoyable. We felt like the rest of the tour was a bit rushed all to say we saw ten things. Quick stops at a nice beach, a roadside fruit stand, someone's back yard to see some monkeys, lunch, a hilltop to see the view, a hotel to learn about the local vegetation, and a drive through the town (which has become much poorer since our last visit). I would suggest these fabulous guides trim down the tour and find 3-4 special things to show off the area. Croc boats, a hike through the forest canopy, a long lunch at a nicer spot (like the hotel), or drinks at the beach. The challenge for the guides and cruise passengers is that there is a limited amount to see in the time allotted without driving 2+ hours to the national parks or the volcano. The Sloths are farther south so the most you can get is monkeys and crocs within the window of time provided. Overall, this is the best tour for the money if you are making a stop, but do not expect to see the very best of Costa Rica from this port during a quick cruise stop.

Tour Guide, Minor, made the excursion wonderful!
Minor brought us to see monkeys, brought us to a beautiful vista of the entirety of Jaco Beach, brought us to a crocodile boat tour and brought us to a wonderful seaside lunch. It was a wonderful experience all around! We’d highly recommend to anyone!
