Captain Leo was an amazing guide. He took us swimming with skarks, rays, and incredible tropical fish. Our lunch and drinks were delicious. And the sunset was gorgeous.

We had a wonderful time on the full day cruise aboard the Taboo. The waves and current were a little higher than usual so some of the snorkeling spots weren’t as clear as they usually are, but that is our only complaint which was out of their control.
The shuttle pickup was prompt and all staff were polite, informative, and wonderful hosts. They prepared a delicious fresh fruit plate and cocktails. Service went above and beyond a simple boat tour as it was clear that they wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Overall a beautiful day and a wonderful tour. It was about 6 hours in total so you can still have time for other activities in the day if that’s your thing. Highly recommended!

Had the BEST day on the catamaran today! Crossed so many things off the bucket list. If you do one thing on Moorea, DO THIS. Sharks, rays, fish galore, a beautiful boat, a knowledgeable host and a gorgeous sunset. I was initially worried that the full day tour would be too long, but it went so fast and we got to see so many things and take our time in all of the locations we went. So worth it.

The absolute best! Liza and Leo were excellent. We took a Private Full Day Sunset tour and it was perfect! We swam with sting rays and black tip reef sharks, saw lots of cool fish in the coral gardens and had LOTS of great photo opportunities. Liza transferred our whole group of 8 to and from the excursion, and even stopped and waited for us to pick up lunch and dinner for take out. Voila Moorea is very professional and the boat is immaculate and very well cared for. We'd go again any time. Thank you Leo and Liza!

Leo was amazing host. We were able to do so many things on this private tour. If you are looking for something low key, yet exciting to do for a few hours and catch the sunset, this is the place for you.
We went and swam with stingrays and black tip sharks, which was definitely the highlight. When you think of Moorea or even Bora Bora, you think of those blue lagoon water places. This is exactly what that was.

Absolutely amazing day. Perfect private sail. Saw sharks and rays and lots of fish. Boat was very comfortable and safe. Leo was the best and very helpful.

Do not hesitate to book a full day private tour on the Taboo — it was the best thing we did in Moorea! From start to finish it was very enjoyable and the full 6 hours was just perfect for me and my Fiance. We were conveniently picked up at our hotel, the Hilton Moorea, by the captain Leo. He was super nice and knowledgeable about the island and all of it’s water life. Leo discussed our options for the day and was very flexible based on our individual interests — he customized the perfect tour.
The first big stop was to swim with the sharks and sting rays — so cool. We were happy to get there early before the large crowds arrived. Then we went to swim with the fish in the coral gardens. After we docked, Leo held the end of a banana in the water and tons of tropical fish swam up immediately. We saw a great variety of fish at this snorkel spot. From there, we chose an even more remote location for a swim and lunch. It was actually nice to be in a spot without coral this time so we could swim freely in the crystal clear waters without another boat in sight. When we returned to the boat, we were surprised by a beautiful fruit plate that Leo carved for us along with a lovely presentation of our lunch and the bottle of Champagne we brought along (highly recommend bringing your own Champagne to the islands or purchasing in the Duty free shop because it is all extremely expensive). Last stop was a snorkel in the Tiki gardens where we even discovered a new fish that we haven’t seen on our entire trip so far.
At the end of our trip, Leo gave us a bunch of awesome pictures he took during out trip so we can vividly revisit the highlights of the day. My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to also book the sunset cruise. Overall the boat was fantastic and super comfortable. I highly recommend bringing a large hat and swim shirt for extra protection because even with a ton of sunscreen we got a tiny bit burned (it was a sunny day). Thank you so much Leo and Liza (for organizing the booking) — we are so appreciative of the lifetime memories we created from our trip on Taboo in Moorea.

This private tour is an absolute must if you are staying in Moorea. We decided to book a full-day tour with Voil’a Moorea. The communication was great while scheduling our tour. Little we knew that Leo and Lisa operate their family-owned boat tour business. We received authentic and personalized charter service on one of the only two sailboat catamarans doing tours in Moorea. While a private tour is pricier than a group tour, having the entire boat and the captain focused on providing a super personalized experience is totally worth it.
Our captain Leo was extremely knowledgeable about the island, the culture, and the marine life. The boat, “Taboo”, is a very well maintained and comfortable catamaran. We enjoyed sitting in front of the boat and feeling the fresh air, having lunch enjoying fresh local fruits, and sitting on the shaded area after snorkeling. Yes, lots of snorkeling, and the boat has a very comfortable and easy to use lather on the back to get in and out of the water.
Our route started at the Hilton Moorea dock, where Leo picked us up at 7:45am. Sunrise was sometime around 6:15am, so this gave us ample time to get up, have breakfast, and head over to start the tour. I would highly recommend starting early to hit amazing snorkeling spots before other boats get there. These were our main highlights throughout the route:
- Views of the island, Magic Mountain, and Cook’s Bay. A few minutes after departing we had an amazing view of the island sailing through clear waters.
- Dolphins. We were lucky to see a large group of 50 or so dolphins. They were friendly and playful. We saw dolphins jump and turn 6x in the air. Incredible.
- Turtles. While on the way to swimming with sharks and sting rays, Leo brought us to an area where turtles take naps. We saw 5 turtles of at least 3 feet long swimming.
- Next we sailed to swim with black-fin-sharks and sting-rays. Locals have been feeding them for over 20 years so they are not threatened by humans. They are actually very curious, mostly the sting-rays. We were in the water with a dozen sharks and sting rays, and they came to say hi as soon as we jump in the water.
- Next the coral gardens. We snorkeled around hundreds of tropical fish of all shapes and colors.
- This brought us to lunch time. Leo prepared a tray of local fruits and we brought sandwiches. Note that our tour was right after New Year’s day, so we couldn’t get the local lunch that Leo usually recommends. We anchored in a secluded and private white sanded area for lunch followed by a relaxing swim.
- Last the way back. We stopped by the Tikki area, where locals submerged sacred statues when the first European missions tried to eliminate anything related to local religions. We snorkeled and spotted the submerged statues. As a bonus we were able to see cowfishes here.
- The last 30min to the dock were just relaxing. Leo prepared Mai Tais made with local fruit juice. We sip and enjoyed the views. We did not want the tour to end.
In summary, we can’t but highly recommend you consider this private tour with Leo. You will get back with unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to get back to Moorea and take another tour with Leo.

Awesome cruise on the Taboo, saw plenty of sharks, rays and fish. The crew were wonderful, and let us have our quiet rest time, and were always social but never intrusive. Well worth the trip, can truly recommend for couples the 6 hour trip.

We spent 6 hours aboard the Taboo sailing, visiting the lagoon, snorkeling and just relaxing. Marc was the perfect captain and host with his laid back personality and thorough knowledge of the vessel and the island. We visited several key spots, anchored in a perfect snorkeling spot near Coco beach, had a great fruit platter and Mai Tai's, and just sailed to several spots. Definitely an excursion that I would recommend.

Hi there,
I grew up sailing in Brazil, and my wife and I would really like to go sailing around Moorea in a private tour. As we are going to be in Moorea for only 3 nights, do you recommend a half day or a full day sailing? Also, if full day, is the sunset included?
We will be in Moorea July 28 to July 31 (morning). If we decide on full day, it will have to be July 29.

Hi, Half Day Tour or Full Day Tour is up to you, depending on the time you like to spend on the water as well as your budget. We can organize a Full Day including the Sunset, we will then need to start the Tour at 12am.
