This review is for two activities we did with Rod back in March this year, a 2-day snowmobile excursion and night-time ice fishing. The ice fishing was extremely boring (they hadn't moved the hut in a while and it was fished out--no one caught any fish that was worth keeping) and we felt it was very over-priced for what you get. I would definitely not do it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The snowmobile excursion was definitely better, and the guide (I believe his name was Andrew) was absolutely fun, nice and overall a great and interesting guy to talk to. But my wife had to cancel due to hurting her back, and while there was a full refund policy I believe for 48 hours beforehand, we cancelled the day before and Rod kept the full price of $1,500. I said he should at least credit back to us for the savings he had for not bringing an extra person (gas, wear & tear on the snowmobile, food), but he said it would only add up to about $50 and didn't give us anything. I will say that Rod seemed to otherwise be a nice guy, but that policy is extremely one-sided. (I think he should have given back maybe $100 - $200 for the additional expenses, which I'm sure was over $50, plus maybe a little bit of his profit as a gesture of good faith.)

This was an awesome adventure. They picked us up at pikes landing and took us to the frozen Chenna River. Our guide was so gracious. He had a fire going on the wood heater making the hut nice and warm. He had the rods and bait we needed. He cooked us a tasty meal. We caught a few fish.

We had Tim as our Aurora Ice Fishing guide. He was so funny and knowledgeable. I had so much fun hanging out with him. 5 hours flew by! He is the best! I caught one fish, and my fiance got 4 fish. Tim cooked the fish and reindeer sausage hotdog and it was delicious. Tim continuously checked the Bz (magnetic field strength) and we got to see an amazing Aurora Borealis multiple times throughout the night. It started low in the sky then around 2:30 am the whole sky was filled with Aurora. We had the whole frozen lake to ourselves watching the Aurora Borealis dancing above us. It was pure magic! We went to Aurora chasing tour before, but this is by far the better experience watching Aurora Borealis. Fishing and eating in the super warm cabin, then popping out to see the Aurora Borealis show. I highly recommend this ice fishing aurora tour even if you aren't interested in ice fishing like me.

The best part of our vacation to Fairbanks! Our Guide, Tim, was fantastic! Very social and knowledgeable. We caught more fish than we could eat and tossed several back. We stayed warm in the heated cabin while fishing. Tim kept an eye on the Aurora for us and let us know when it was time to step outside. We got to experience the most beautiful dancing Aurora right over the lake! Then Tim cooked up some reindeer sausage and our catch. All delicious. Highly recommend!

Timmy is a blast! He was constantly looking for auroras and tracking them. We didnt get to see any but not due to him not trying. He can cook up a mean reindeer sausage and fish. It was so nice to be warm while fishing and waiting for auroras. Even kids were there. Wasn’t real keen on the idea of ice fishing but my opinion has changed thanks to Rods. Pink marshmallows!

We had the best time ice fishing with Ro, she made our experience so much fun and memorable!!! We caught a ton of fish and the fish tasted delicious. The fish hut was warm and when it got to hot she drilled holes for us to fish outside. We definitely recommend this company and ask for Ro!!!!

Our guide was Josh and he was amazing. He was very informative and very helpful. He tried his hardest to get everyone to catch a fish. He also kept his eye out for the northern lights and told us when they were active which was a beautiful site. It was a great night and I would definitely recommend.

Perfect "Alaska" experience for five friends visiting the Fairbanks area to see the Norther Lights (which we did from outside the fishing cabins on the frozen lake -- just glorious). Fun company in the cabin with several other groups made it feel like a low-key late night party. Much of the credit goes to our guide, Cody, who answered all our questions, helped with our very inexperienced fishing knowledge, beautifully cooked the catch on the woodier stove, and was the perfect host. Very easy to find the place in the dark if you follow their very clear directions. Just a great way to spend an Alaska evening. Don't hesitate.
