We had an amazing experience with Vivasafaris. From the beginning, we appreciated Patti’s availability and reactivity in all communications (emails / WhatsApp) and for tailoring a 4-day tour of great value for our family. Transfer from Johannesburg to Tremisana Lodge was on board of comfortable buses with very helpful drivers. We enjoyed the stays at Tremisana and Katekani luxury lodges with very kind staff. We had very skilled and experienced guides with us in the parks for game drives and bush walks. They were all funny too. (I don’t know if this is part of their training). All big five were seen. We were fortunate to meet a leopard just near the lodge at Tremisana. We saw a cheetah and were very close to a Casper in Kruger.
My family and I enjoyed so much this experience. The animals didn’t seem much bothered by visitors and they were kind enough to let us take beautiful pictures ;-)
Vivasafaris also helped us organizing visits in Johannesburg with a tour operator, which was very much appreciated, especially for us, traveling to South Africa for our very first time.

we really enjoyed our 4 day tent Safari. We felt super warm welcomed and appreciated the lovely staff of yours, the optimal koordination of Safaris, bush walks, transfers and Verpflegung.
We had a good time in the surprisingly comfortable tent, eventhough folks of us, who stayed in the treehouse, indeed had a better view from their rooms.
We can not thank you guys enough for the time in Balule National Reserve and the Kruger National Park.

If you do one thing for yourself following the fallout of 2020, book this right now!
I don’t even know where to start expressing my thanks to the wonderful people of Viva Safaris. I booked last minute whilst on a trip in Botswana that went a little pear shaped (but that’s a different story entirely). This is a trip that caters for everyone, whether you are travelling solo, with family or for a romantic getaway!
Firstly, the organisation is first rate. I didn’t have to think of a thing. Communication was quick to the point and everything ran like a well oiled machine. There was structure but you didn’t feel rushed or boxed in. Everything moved smoothly and I didn’t have to think about a thing. From the moment we were picked up in Joberg we were met with friendly smiles, told exactly what was going on and the plan for the day. The journey was comfortable with plenty of stops and it did not feel like too long of a drive despite the whole journey being around 7 hours. Views are beautiful, but maybe bring a book to entertain you or take the time to snooze. You’ll have a couple of action filled days ahead and an early start or two but everything is totally worth it.
Which brings me nicely to the activities. Every single day was filled with something new, I won’t say too much about what you get up to because the pleasant surprises along the way just added to our experience. I will just say that I felt that our time was filled perfectly with a healthy balance of knowledgable friendly and thoughtful guides/staff, activities, downtime (wine time), exciting animals and learning opportunities all with a beautiful Africa backdrop.
The accommodation is beautiful. I love Katenkani and I would say it is my favourite place I have stay in. I will definitely come back to this little sanctuary and not just to my gorgeous tented lodge but for the people there. Thoughtful, welcoming with big hearts and smiles is how I can describe the people of viva we shared out time with. Tiger’s food is exceptional. He is a young, bright lad with a raw talent in the kitchen. I spoken to him for no more than a couple minutes about dietary requirements and preferences on the journey up the first day and thought no more of it. The excited and passion just beam from him. Food is normally an afterthought on organised trip and here it definitely wasn’t. It was a highlight even after seeing the big 5!!! The only little thing I would say is that I would have appreciated a little more choice for drinks, but given that I told myself I should be detoxing this was probably in my best interests.
The trip has been a retreat for me, it ticks all the boxes and I will most certainly come back to this incredible bunch of people that feel like a family. Thank you all so very much, I feel so privileged to be one of your first visitors since COVID-19. This has been more than a home away from home. I feel utterly spoilt. Sending lots of big love from Tara and Charlotte! We will be back :)

Katekani lodge is a perfect safari destination, the staff is extraordinary, momsah is a great hostess she gives you a warm welcome to the lodge and constantly keeps in touch with the guests. Tiger has prepared some of the best dishes we tasted in South Africa he is also extremely entertaining and fun to be around.
The rooms in the the katekani lodge are truly amazing and give you a sense of luxury while being immersed in the wild.
All round a unique experience which is made even more pleasant due to the staff and accommodation being top quality. I would definitely recommend the katekani lodge and viva safari in general to anybody looking for a safari destination.

The hosts especially those from the Kanekani lodge are unbelievable.
We spent such so great days with them we 'll never forget!
Tiger is the most amazing 5 star bush cook who celebrates food, it's so delicious!
Also, the whole crew is so politely and such familiar.
We highly recommend to book the Kanekani lodge, it made a very good trip to a perfect one. Also, Charl as our tour guide is somebody who has so much passion for the animals that is incredible. We are going to come back if we can at the same place for sure!

This trip was one of our best ever. When we arrived the staff welcomed us with big smiles helping us to our room. It blew us away as we had our own slash pool which cooled us down in between our trips to the parks. We had 3 course meals which was delicious and presented to beautifully. We had amazing viewings both in the private parks and in the Kruger. The one private park we even saw mating leopards. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for adventure and an awesome experience.

As this was my first ever time in the Kruger, I had the best experience with Viva Safari and highly recommend it to anyone that havent been or have been but looking for something amazing. Their staff is so friendly they felt like family, the places we stayd was absolutely amazing, and the drives were amazing and guides so well informed and friendly.Was defnitally an experience Id never forget. In one word summed up: Amazing. The entire experience was just incredible and unforgettable.

Le immagini del Katekani come da brochure sono bellissime e abbiamo scelto questa soluzione 4 gg semi luxury con grandi aspettative. Di seguito tuttavia una sintesi della nostra esperienza:
1) Partenza da Johannesburg 9.15: pick up non in aeroporto come altri operatori bensì esterno sulla strada e in ritardo, viaggio in minibus circa 7 ore in totale con altri 8 passeggeri e cambio bus a metà
2) Check in: il check in è al Tremisana, non al katekani. Quindi bagagli da scaricare e portare in un bugalow come da foto allegate. Problemi nello scarico WC che rilascia pochissima acqua: evito di spiegare conseguenze…
3) Primo giro serale e mattina successiva con guida lenta e noiosa, spende una marea di tempo per sottolineare cosa non è permesso fare e cosa non ci si deve aspettare dal safari…la natura è spettacolare ma certamente il ruolo della guida gioca un ruolo importante
4) Secondo giorno: check out in tarda mattinata (11 circa) e check in presso katekani che dista circa 45 min in bus. Finalmente verso le 12 del secondo giorno si ha accesso allo standard delle fotografie della brochure (oggettivamente una bellissima tenda). Alcune pecche anche qui come foglie dappertutto nella piscinetta e terrazzo che ci siamo dovuti pulire da soli, la piscinetta stracolma di cloro e senza ricircolo (acqua quasi bianca), presenza di vasca da bagno ma insufficiente acqua calda per riempirla (forse basta d’estate, di sicuro non a fine autunno), non c’è il WIFI (occorre andare al ristorante a piedi per una connessione). Ad ogni modo, si hanno 4-5 ore di tempo per potersi godere questo atteso monolocale.
5) Serata con game trail, molto bello, con finalmente guida coinvolgente e divertente (Jordan), al rientro, è buio e la tenda è in modalità notte, ovvero vengono chiuse tutte le finestre dall’interno.
6) Il terzo giorno dall’alba al tramonto presso il kruger (attenzione: gli altri giorni NON si entra al kruger che prevede una fee di ingresso, bensì in aree limitrofe). Intera giornata passata in gruppo di 8 persone in Fuoristrada. Ritorno sera tardi. Per fortuna, anche in questo caso guida capace e positivamente interattiva (Sean)
7) Il quarto giorno si parte nuovamente presto la mattina si va alla terza tenuta del circuito, il Treehouse per colazione + camminata. In allegato lo stato di manutenzione della piscina.
8) Si viene riportati verso le 9 al katekani per check out di corsa e tornare quindi sul bus che riparte per l’aeroporto, passando per un canyon limitrofo. Causa anche qualche difficoltà dell’autista a trovare alcuni degli hotel si fanno le 18:30 (quasi 9 ore di bus).
In sintesi: l’esperienza del safari è meravigliosa ma questa viene esaltata o frustrata in base alla guida (non tutte sono state in grado o quantomeno motivate nel nostro caso). Su 4 giorni, 1 solo è al kruger. Il tent lodge è bellissimo ma in 4 giorni di safari, ci si gode questa accommodation per 4-5 ore. Primo e ultimo giorno quasi interamente passati sul bus. L’organizzazione nel complesso è modesta, gli spostamenti fra i vari accampamenti molto inefficienti e tendono a far stare le persone in quelli più economici a discapito di chi alloggia nei posti premium. Lo stato di manutenzione è discutibile, nel nostro caso sia Tremisanda sia Treehouse hanno evidenziato pesanti lacune e comunque al katekani, sebbene fossimo gli unici guest in quei giorni, abbiamo dovuto pulire da soli le foglie portate dal vento sia nel terrazzino sia nella piscinetta (aggiungo che la piscinetta non ha ricircolo ed era stracolma di cloro).

7) Il quarto giorno si parte nuovamente presto la mattina si va alla terza tenuta del circuito, il Treehouse per colazione + camminata. In allegato lo stato di manutenzione della piscina.
8) Si viene riportati verso le 9 al katekani per check out di corsa e tornare quindi sul bus che riparte per l’aeroporto, passando per un canyon limitrofo. Causa anche qualche difficoltà dell’autista a trovare alcuni degli hotel si fanno le 18:30 (quasi 9 ore di bus).
In sintesi: l’esperienza del safari è meravigliosa ma questa viene esaltata o frustrata in base alla guida (non tutte sono state in grado o quantomeno motivate nel nostro caso). Su 4 giorni, 1 solo è al kruger. Il tent lodge è bellissimo ma in 4 giorni di safari, ci si gode questa accommodation per 4-5 ore. Primo e ultimo giorno quasi interamente passati sul bus. L’organizzazione nel complesso è modesta, gli spostamenti fra i vari accampamenti molto inefficienti e tendono a far stare le persone in quelli più economici a discapito di chi alloggia nei posti premium. Lo stato di manutenzione è discutibile, nel nostro caso sia Tremisanda sia Treehouse hanno evidenziato pesanti lacune e comunque al katekani, sebbene fossimo gli unici guest in quei giorni, abbiamo dovuto pulire da soli le foglie portate dal vento sia nel terrazzino sia nella piscinetta (aggiungo che la piscinetta non ha ricircolo ed era stracolma di cloro).

Mi sembra che Lei ha avuto una 'meravigliosa esperienza' di safari ma che non e stato content con tutte le guide.
Proveremo a migliorare.
Lei ha avuto tanto tempo di leggere il programma del pacchetto safari prima di prenottare - non capisco perche ha problemi con lunghezza di trasferte e altri dettagli di quello che offriamo..
Se guarda alle altre reviste di Katekani, tutte sono fantastiche - stranissimo che Lei e il primo nel 2019 che no ha
avuto la stessa esperienza.

Debo decir que fuimos en familia a nuestra primera experiencia de Safari y la verdad es que sentimos que hicimos la mejor elección al contratar Viva Safaris, los felicito por la organización que tienen y por la forma tan bien estudiada para garantizar tener momentos emocionantes y llenos de oportunidades de ver los animales en su habitat natural, los "Bush walk" son increibles y las expediciones de noche aun mas emocionantes. Debo decir que TODO funcionó como un reloj!!!!
Katekani supero por mucho mis espectativas, las habitaciones super amplias con una decoración increible y todas las comodidades posibles al mismo tiempo sitiendo realmente en el medio de la selva, realmente una experiencia unica. Los anfitriones de Katekani som excelentes personas que siempre se esforzaron por hacer nuestra estadia cada vez mas placentera. Una mencion especial a nuestro chef TIGER!!!! the best Kruger park´s Cheff ever!!!! y nuestra anfitriona Mrs Margaret muy servicial, amable y atenta a solucionar qualquier problema.
Los recomiento ampliamente y sigan haciendo tan buen trabajo como lo vienen haciendo!!!

From a safari point of view, I can’t fault it, we saw lots including the big 5. The guide staff were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
We booked the katakani lodge which was more expensive thinking we would get a little time to relax and enjoy the pool, unfortunately we was so booked up with game drives we hardly had any time to enjoy the lodge. Katenkani lodges are stunning and in a gorgeous location, it would have been nice to have a few hours to relax.
At tremisana, we were put into room guest house 1 which didn’t have a working shower, after 32 hours of travelling we really needed a shower, I reported it to the hotel staff but they really came across like they didn’t care and did nothing about it.
Namsa and Tiger at Katekani were amazing, very friendly and attentive. Tiger, your food was amazing, I see you are very passionate about cooking and delivered top class tasty food. It was lovely to meet you both.

Thanks for a good review that could be better.
We are pleased to know that you could not fault the safari operation.
We do pack in a lot of activity as our experience over the decades is that most tourists like to be busy on safari activities.
I have investigated the issue re shower and do apologise for the slow water supply.
We have connected a new pressure pump and hope that it will improve the quantity of water supply.
Tiger is so thrilled to know his efforts have been publicised and Nomsa says she appreciates reading her name in your review.
