Amazing trip with very experienced guides. It's February, there's snow on the ground, the water is 2° and the air is -5° yet this was such an exhilarating trip. Both being geologists it was a real bonus to swim in the fissure between the North American and Eurasian plates.
The actual snorkeling is only around 300m but it is at a relaxed pace with the gentle flow. This was plenty in February!
The guides were super friendly and experienced. They ensured all our kit was watertight and walked us through everything we needed to do.
Key recommendation would be to take a waterproof camera. The guides take some but we were happily snapping away on our own.
A highly recommended tour.
The actual snorkeling is only around 300m but it is at a relaxed pace with the gentle flow. This was plenty in February!

We just finished the snorkeling in Silfra fissure today - it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. But as the title of this review suggests, even as amazing as it was, I’d urge strong consideration for other visitors as to whether they are up to it.
So, the actual snorkeling was magnificent - even on a grey January day the water was beautifully blue and clear. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Weirdly enough, even though of course I was cold, I actually wasn’t as cold as I had expected. By the time you are bundled into two layers the water temperature is do-able. My lips and feet were the coldest but otherwise the suit was water-tight. The guides were also excellent, Ivo and Guilluame. So helpful and patient - and I needed a LOT of help.
And this is where my reservations about the activity come in. As you can see, this hasn’t reduced my rating of the snorkeling because the issues I experienced were my issues - not the tour’s - but I will share anyway for other people who may experience mild claustrophobia. Getting into the suit is really hard and it actually made me panic a little (and I’m not generally a panicker) because it constricted my breathing so much. The guides were great and got me a looser suit but I still found it hard to get a full deep breath throughout the activity. You really need help from other people in getting dressed so I’d go with at least one other person. I didn’t mind the whole getting changed outside with strangers too much - everyone was in the same position - but I’m so glad we had a dry day because doing that in the rain would have made me give up.
So my advice, aim for a dry day (haha, it’s Icelandic weather), ask the guides for help, and go with people who will help you too and vice versa. If your chest being constricted makes you anxious, this may not be the activity for you. I’m VERY glad I did but I would never do it again!

Usine, 15 minutes max dans l’eau pour 4h d’activités
Tout naturellement, dépend du guide
Pour nous ça a été un guide qui avait juste hâte de finir, donc tout dans la précipitation
Mon amie a eu un problème respiratoire lors de l’activité dû à un collier rajouté par le guide sur elle
Il l’a fait arrêter l’activité
Elle a voulu retourner dans l’eau lorsqu’elle a réussi à rajuster le collier pour pouvoir respirer mais cela lui a été INTERDIT
Demande de remboursement pour mon amie qui n’a pas fait l’activité donc
REFUSER car le collier était pour sa sécurité elle n’avait pas le droit de le rajuster
1 étoile pour le lieu c’est tout

This was totally awesome. I was really scared at first... I mean the water is 2 degrees C. Really cold. I went with the dry suit. You kind of feel funny, getting all suited up like a giant balloon and you can't really move too easily, but once you trundle off from the equipment area and down into the water, it is really OK. The water feels super cold once you get in it, and yes, it seeps into the mask and gloves a little, but the experience is so encompassing you get over it. I was lucky that I had a sunny day, and the water was indeed that stunning aqua and turquoise color. I could look down, and peer straight into the crust of the Earth. The vegetation growing on the sides of the rocks was mossy and stringy and multi-colored. Our group was athletic - the guide said we were the fastest ever! So we had an extra 15 minutes to snorkel around the lagoon at the end of the fissure, before the double back to exit the snorkel area. There is a mini-fissure under the lagoon, also ultra deep, and the break opens up right below you. It was so colorful and majestic... I loved it, and I am glad I pushed through my apprehension and jumped in! Plan to spend time in the Park after the snorkel - the whole place is gorgeous and magical.

Fantastic experience. The water was cold but I only felt it on my hands thanks to the dry suit. Our guide was super friendly and professional and caring to make sure we were all safe and enjoying our snorkel. Highly recommend. Amazing visibility.

Prenotato online, parcheggio trovato in autonomia molto facilmente, la guida, Mattia, preparato e molto friendly, durata dell'esperienza assolutamente soddisfacente, ottima organizzazione, informazioni veloci e precise al momento della prenotazione, Ovviamente si tratta di indossare una muta stagna all'aperto con 6 gradi di temperatura dell'aria, camminare un paio di centinaia di metri con maschera e pinne al seguito e immergersi in acqua a 3 gradi facendo snorkeling con una attrezzatura che sarebbe pensata per immersioni (quindi un po' difficile da gestire per i movimenti che si fanno con lo snorkeling). Noi due siamo divers di livello avanzato quindi l'esperienza della vestizione e il movimento in acqua non ha creato particolari difficoltà; se manca un minimo di acquaticità non si sarà mai in difficoltà particolari, ma l'esperienza potrebbe creare un po' di sconcerto. Certamente l'organizzione è tale per cui tutto si supera. L'esperienza di snorkeling, anche per chi è abituato non più allo snorkeling, ma ad interessanti immersioni con autorespiratore, è assolutamente unica... Costo relativamente alto rispetto ad esperienze analoghe nel resto del mondo, ma la specificità dell'esperienza, le difficoltà organizzative per l staff e l'attrezzatura necessaria giustifica ampiamente il tutto.

This was an incredible experience!
I was a little bit nervous at the beginning. The dry suit is very tight in the neck and wrists (understandably - so water can't leak in) and it took a few minutes to get used to.
After getting suited up, you walk a little way to the water. A quick lesson on do's and don'ts, and then you get right in! Straight away, your lips are super cold in the near-freezing water, but in about 30 seconds, you don't notice anymore.
My hands got cold towards the end, since they are in wetsuit gloves instead of dry suit gloves, but it wasn't too bad. The rest of my body never got cold at all! It really did stay warm inside the dry suit.
I had a blast! The swim through the fissure is easy, and the view is incredible. I love snorkeling, and I have never seen anything quite like this! It was just awe-inspiring!

My girlfriend and I went snorkeling in Silfra fissure in late August 2022 and had a great time. Really clear water so you can see right down into the deep underwater caverns, very cool and unique experience. We had an incredible guide, Arturo. He was informative, helpful and patient. I was thoroughly impressed with his calm and friendly demeanor in particular while he assisted a few other anxious members in the wider group we were in.
Only downside we faced was the unclear instructions regarding where to meet up from the website & confirmation email we received. We were told to meet at P5 car park, when the actual meeting point is a short walk from P5, about 400m to where the actual vans with snorkeling equipment all park together. Luckily Arturo was a legend and got us set up and ready to go despite us being late.
Would definitely recommend this experience.
Only downside we faced was the unclear instructions regarding where to meet up from the website & confirmation email we received. We were told to meet at P5 car park, when the actual meeting point is a short walk from P5, about 400m to where the actual vans with snorkeling equipment all park together. Luckily Arturo was a legend and got us set up and ready to go despite us being late.

We have a member of our party that is 5'9" and ~285 lb; great swimmer. Would your outfit have a wetsuit large enough to accommodate them? We noticed some other outfits impose maximum weight/height limits; we would hate to book and find out it isn't possible. Thanks!

Hello,
We made reservation for 3 persons on August 23rd at 10:30 AM but we would like to add one more person to the excursion. The website won't let me make an other reservation at that time, can you please help me.
