tldr: GO UP KILI WITH KILI BROTHERS
I cannot say enough about the quality of my experience up Kilimanjaro with this company. I did the eight-day Lemosho route in November, and I had an absolutely phenomenal trek. Round-trip transportation was arranged for me from the airport to Moshi and back, and George, the owner of the company, was waiting for me at my hotel when I arrived.
There are numerous things that makes Kili Brothers different from other companies.
Kili Brothers is owned by brothers who used to be porters and are also guides themselves. With these personal experiences, they create fair labor conditions for all porters and guides. Additionally, they pay all employees fair wages.
The mattresses and tents supplied are of high quality and cleanliness, as is the equipment available for rent.
The food used for cooking is fresh and high-quality—during longer treks, a second team of porters will meet the cooks to replenish dwindling fresh food stocks, keeping hikers well-fed the entire journey.
The porters are all incredibly kind and friendly, and they love chatting with the clients.
The guides are incredibly well-trained and experienced, and they are phenomenal at sensing the needs of their clients throughout the entire journey.
As a 21-year-old woman traveling in Africa by myself for the first time, safety was a paramount concern in finding my your company. The entire Kili Brothers team was cognizant of this fact and made sure I felt safe and secure at all times.
Thank you to George, my guides Abel and Richard, and the entire Kili Brothers team for making my Kili summit a trip I will never forget!

Value for Money, Honest, Reliable, Superb Hospitality!
Back in 2020, we liaised with George on both the hike expedition and safari tour. Finally travel resumed and we made the maiden trip this August 2022. Kilimanjaro brothers took care of everything from the minute we landed until the very last day.
The hike was very well organised and we had the best crew of 12, ensuring our success to the peak - guided by Sanka and Arcardi. Camping equipments were sturdy, windproof and clean. They even provided us 4 inch thick mattress and we couldn’t be more comfortable in the mountain throughout the 8 days. The portable toilet was also sanitized and cleaned daily. Our chef, Willy and waiter, Ema totally rised up to the occasion and treated us with scrumptious meals daily. The cucumber soup was memorable. Honestly, we were mindblowned by the amount of nutritious food served. We wouldn’t have done it without the guidance of Sanka and Arcardi, who are both highly experienced. From pacing, clothes layering and ensuring we consume enough water – their mission was to get us to the roof of Africa safely. Highly recommended to always go with the locals as they know best! One dream, one team!
Safari was one heck of an adventure and we couldn’t be happier and fortunate to have Elly Nassary as our safari guide. He kept us entertained throughout and shared with us stories about the animal kingdom. Very knowledgeable and a brilliantly skilled land cruiser driver. Of course, we were super lucky to catch the Great Migration of Serengeti with his amazing driving skills and awesome prediction. If you’re going for a safari adventure, ask for Elly Nassary! You won’t be disappointed! Feel free to request for a beer flight, throw in the list of animals you would want to tick off your bucketlist, go running after some wildebeest, check into the TZ/KY border – Elly is always up for challenge. Best Tanzanian experience we could have asked for!
Thank you - Kilimanjaro Brothers, George, Sanka, Arcardi, Elly, Willy, Ema, and the whole team for making our trip such a memorable one! Asante sana and we couldn’t stop raving about the trip to our families, friends and everyone that we crossed path with!

Reliable, fuss-free, excellent end-to-end service - delivered. If you are looking for the right company for Kilimanjaro or Tanzania, Kilimanjaro Brother is THE one! As a 2-girls travel group, we are beyond thankful to find Kilimanjaro Brothers, a local company that not only provide A-class top notch service, but for their kindness, experiences, hospitality, and very reasonable-fair pricing.
One team, one dream, all the way to the top! That’s the spirit of the Kilimanjaro Brothers (KB). We chose KB because we wanted to support a local company. We did 8 days Lemosho and 5 days Safari (Serengeti and Ngorongoro) in Aug 2022 – excellent weather! For those having a hard time choosing a route to climb Klimanjaro, Lemosho route is super scenic! It has a good acclimatization profile – hike high, sleep low. Highly recommend! Also, Aug is a good time for the migration at the Mara River, which we were extremely blessed to catch it!!!
Top 3 reasons why you should choose Kilimanjaro Brothers:
1. Reliable, Safe and Experienced Crew
- George and his crew are very experienced. They made us feel extremely safe travelling in Tanzania. Camping equipment provided are good quality and made our trip so comfortable and enjoyable. Our lead and assistant guides, Sanka and Acardi are extremely experienced and patient. Sanka checked our gears one-by-one prior to the climb to ensure we are well equipped. They paced us from Day 1 and advised us what to do/ wear every day to ensure successful summit. Listen to them! They even helped us with our bags on summit day. We couldn’t have done it without our guides and the crew.
- Our safari guide, Elly, is the go-to guide for safari! He has more than 15 years of experience under his belt and is extremely knowledgeable about the animal kingdom. We learnt so much from Elly! Just challenge and give him your long list of requests, and he will try his best to hunt them for you ;P
2. Excellent Service and Personalized Experience
- One of the main reasons of us choosing KB is the personalized customer experience. George is very responsive and helpful. He advised and helped us plan/ customized our Kilimanjaro climb and Safari trip. As George was a guide and porter himself, he is a walking Tanzania google! If you have any doubt, feel free to ask him anything about travelling in Tanzania, from packing list, to vaccination, etc, and he will try his best to help you.
- We had the best crew and service on the mountain, beyond our expectations! The crew always find the best spot to pitch our tents – best view, away from the main crowd (quieter). Chef Willy is an excellent cook and fed us very well, everyday! You get very balanced and delicious meals. Our butler, Ema is a fun chap. We learnt Swahili and the Jambo Kilimanjaro song along the way. The crew is a fun bunch. They made our camping experience super enjoyable!
3. Affordable price point
- Support the local community! KB is very transparent with their pricing and costs. They gave us a very affordable and fair quotation compared to other companies that we reached out to. In return, we received more than what we expected in terms of quality and service.
Once again, a million Asante-sana to George, Sanka, Acardi, Elly and the rest of the crew for making our dreams come true and to show us your beautiful country. Hands down, best decision ever to go with KB, no regrets! Wishing you all the best and hope our paths cross again in the future! :)

I had a great experience climbing Kilimanjaro, thanks to George and his amazing crew. The guides (Richard and Eli) and porters at Kilimanjaro Brothers were extremely kind, encouraging and helpful, and I cannot thank them enough for their support and generosity of spirit. Richard did a thorough “gear check” the evening before we started to ensure that we had everything we needed. Not only that, he generously gave me his trekking poles when one of mine malfunctioned.
The hike was exhilarating but difficult, and I could not have done it without the incredible assistance of our amazing guides and porters. Also, the food they served on the mountain was plentiful and delicious.
The memory of my Kilimanjaro trek will be in my heart forever, and I will never forget my wonderful friends at Kilimanjaro Brothers who helped me make it to the top. A huge "Asante sana" to all of them. They are simply amazing!

I joined a group trek organised by Kilimanjaro Brothers and the overall experience was very positive.
Highlights:
- The company representative (George) was very helpful with providing relevant information before my arrival. The hotel was also arranged for me before and after the trek.
- I got my own (3-person) tent for no extra charge. It was really comfortable having the whole tent to myself. A thin foam mattress was also included.
- The guide (Eli) seemed very experienced and took good care of the group. He proposed that we do the summit push a day earlier, but start at 3am, instead of the usual start at midnight. This was a great idea, as it was much warmer when walking up, and at the summit we were all by ourselves, without other groups! This also meant that on the summit day we didn’t have to make a big descent, but we just returned to the base camp. The remaining descent was done on the following day.
- The food was quite tasty and varied, perhaps the breakfast porridge could be improved. The waiter service, e.g. having warm tea brought to the tent in the morning, was very welcomed as well.
- On the last day we were caught in a massive rainfall. As we were quite close to the end, our guide arranged a car to pick us up, so we didn’t get fully soaked in the rain.
- It was possible to pay by card.
Lowlights:
- I decided to rent a sleeping bag from the company, as the sleeping bag I own is a 3-season one, and for Kiliminajaro a 4-season one is strongly recommended. However, the sleeping bag I got had a comfort temperature rating of +10 degrees Celsius, which is definitely not suitable for sub-zero temperatures of Kilimanjaro (and was worse than the rating of my own sleeping bag). I only realised this when we were already on the mountain, but upon later complaint I was refunded the costs of renting the sleeping bag.
- The hygienic conditions could be improved. We were given one small bowl of warm water in the morning and in the evening, and it was very difficult to do any personal hygiene with this amount of water. In the private toilet there was soap, but there wasn’t any water to use it with. After I requested it, the crew started putting a bowl of water next to the toilet, which was an improvement. However, it was quite difficult to use (the same bowl of water had to be used by multiple people for washing hands multiple times), so I think using a bucket with a small tap could be an improvement.
- Before starting the trek I saw a lot of videos of porters singing local songs to motivate the hikers. That was missing in our group.

It’s great to know that you enjoyed your vocation with us with best possible experience from local Tanzania Company.
We the expert of Kilimanjaro climb and our package include hand selected hotel, all ground transfer from arrival and departure, experienced porter and guiding service.
We are full equipped with both mountain and safari gears, The Climbers will sleep in four-season mountain tents during the trek. Kilimanjaro Brothers uses the best tents and maintain them to the highest standards. Our tents are water proof from Mountain hardware and Eureka. Each Kilimanjaro trek is supplied by mess/ dinning tents, crew sleeping tent, portable toilets and client tents. All our tents are good for traveling in high altitude in all mountain season.
We have note that mix of safari sleeping bag and on mountain facilities, but still this was possible to notify us the same days as we was able to replace on we have always new supply. Still every days on hike as well as after dinner you we always having evaluation of a day and brief for tomorrow, stuff like this can appear or conversation and report for immediately solution and no need to wait till you finish the trip.
In Kilimanjaro there five principal which are Marangu, Rongai, Machame, Lemosho and Northern circuit. Marangu is the only route which there is hut and the remain route are camping.
On these camping routes, there are little wooden toilet houses along the tracks as well as in the camps. They resemble outhouses, i.e. there is no toilet with a seat. Furthermore, there are no sinks with soap, running water or showers. However, one can receive bowls with warm water and soap, which are provided by your team if required. This way, at least a minimum level of personal hygiene is ensured. On these routes you sleep in a tent
se the new improved toilets which are at each camp. Or use a private toilet carried up by our porters?
Usually people prefer us to carry up a private toilet and Kilimanjaro Brothers is providing for you. For this there is a cost to cover the toilet attendant, who carries, pitches, cleans and empties the loo. It’s covered in our trip fee.
We provide private toilet on Kilimanjaro, well it’s clean, it’s doesn’t smell, it’s private but they are small and if windy a bit awkward as they’re inside little toilet tents. They are made from plastic; they have a seat, a flush mechanism and a sliding door which opens for your business to drop down into a container which the attendant empties.
Tents provide welcome privacy.
Portable pump-flush toilets are Eco-friendly and sanitary.
Hand sanitizer provided to keep you healthy.
Walk-in height tents are clean and comfortable.
They’re cleaned regularly, they’re big, private and don’t have drafts. The floors and walls are tiled and they offer both western style toilets (sit down) and a traditional hole in the ground. They’re not pristine if the campsites are busy but they really are very good.
On our traditional trek we use to sing and dancing together with clients, but after COVID epidemic the Kilimanjaro National park in cooperation with the government heath sector introduce a new regulation of Keeping distance and the prohibited that dancer for Safety reason

Kilimanjaro Brothers was the perfect local outfitter for a climb I have always wanted to do. I was a solo hiker on the 8-day Lemosho route, but the team adjusted on the fly to my pace and we ended up completing the trip in 7 days with a successful summit!
George organized everything, including the schedule adjustment while we were on the mountain. The food was fresh, the guide was excellent and the Covid procedures were safe for a climb.
I found the price in the middle of the pack based on my research. Well worth it to support a local group.
All transportation and Covid tests were provided for, making the pandemic travel as easy as normal travel.
After the summit, I had a Covid swab taken hours after arriving back in Moshi and my results were available via email in a day and a half (swab Tuesday afternoon, results Thursday morning).
George provided transport to and from the airport.

We had an amazing experience with Kilimanjaro Brothers in Jan 2020 for both a private 8 day Kilimanjaro trek and 5 day safari. Our mountain guides Abdul and Priscus were knowledgeable and provided great support, and the team of porters took amazing care of us. Food was great and I really can't imagine a better experience.
We also had a fantastic safari with our guide Sharif who went out of his way to give us an unforgettable safari.
The team at Moshi (Geoff and George) also took great care of us with transfers, organising gear plus short day trips before and after the trek.

So glad that we chose 'Kilimanjaro Brothers' for our trip. If we do another route we will not look at any other Company. The Guides Justin and Eli were highly competent, calm, experienced and safe and along with the 10 amazing porters were the reason we managed to summit Uhuru. For myself (60) and my wife (51) we wanted to ensure that if we were going to attempt Kilimanjaro we did it with an experienced reputable local Company that treat their staff well and we wanted to ensure that we managed to have sufficient days to acclimate. 8 day Lemosho is the route with the highest success rate, and is the most beautiful and scenic route. In the Office Kelvin responded to all my emails very quickly and efficiently and answered all our questions. He was very professional. We stayed in the Parkview Inn in Moshi which was perfect. (organised by Kili Bros)
Dont even consider not taking/paying for your own toilet. It is a must and worth far more than the extra $s you pay. You will understand this at 3am in the morning when you are in camp at 4,600m, -5 degrees outside and need to use the toilet! Apart from summit night we found day 4 quite hard when we had our first excursion upto 4,600m at Lava tower.
Some top tips:
1. Pay for your own toilet
2.Drink 4-5 litres of water per day to avoid/minimise headaches and nausea at high altitude
3.Make sure you always wash your hands on the mountain and are careful with hygiene
4. Walk pole, pole at all times. Save your energy. It is not a race there are no prizes for first place.
5.Listen and act on the Guides advice. They have been up to Uhuru hundreds of times.
6.Go with an open heart and mind and respect the lovely Tanzanian people and of course the Mountain, it is nearly 6,000m!
7.Be generous with your tipping at the end of the Trek make sure you have sufficient $ up the mountain with you.
8. Leave all the equipment and clothing that you can for the porters ie plan to take extra items that you can leave. You will marvel and respect the porters when you see the work that they do.
9. Enjoy every minute, it will be the experience of a lifetime.
10. Take some sugary snacks for the Trek
11.Bring some light trainers for the Camps at night
We had an amazing experience. Use Kilimanjaro Brothers, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I did the Kilimanjaro Brothers 8-day Lemosho hike (with summit on full moon night) up Mt. Kilimanjaro last month (Oct 08-15), followed by a 3 day safari to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Manyara. Based on Google and TripAvisor reviews, we selected Kilimanjaro Brothers (a local tour company in Moshi) as our tour operators. We were thoroughly impressed by their high-quality, professional and personalized service.
Their sales and marketing team was always available on web chat, phone & WhatsApp to answer all our queries. They provided us with a detailed itinerary. We were given valuable advice on what to carry along and on what to rent locally and even on how to train and be physically ready for the trek.
When we arrived there, we received a warm welcome from Mdoe at the airport. Our hotel accommodation at Panama Garden Resort was quiet and comfortable. Here, we met our main guide Abel Wanjara, who after exchanging pleasantries, went through our trekking gear to ensure we were well equipped for our trek.
Our trekking team consisted of 12 members: two guides (Abel and Simon), a cook (Edward), a waiter (Paul) and eight porters. All of them were congenial, courteous and thoroughly professional. They were always there to assist and motivate us (with their merry songs and cheers). Upon arriving at each campsite, we would find our tent (with a cozy dining room and a bedroom) and portable flush toilet ready for us (Mtaki was in-charge of the toilet and we cannot thank him enough!). Edward ensured that we were well fed and dished out some great vegetarian food for us (as was our requirement). We always had fresh, hot meals that included (but not limited to) some amazing porridges, vegetable soups, pasta, fried rice, noodles and plenty of fresh fruits. Paul was mild-mannered and friendly. He was punctual with his wakeup calls and was ready with our hot basins of water whenever we needed them. He brought us all our meals on time and ensured that we had enough to eat and drink both at the camps and on our treks.
Abel came with valuable experience and relevant knowledge, having summited more than a 100 times. He would meticulously advise us on how to dress each day and on what to carry along in our day packs. Simon (our assistant guide) emphasized on the importance of a positive attitude and gave us many useful tips on how to push through to the top. He was also full of interesting facts on the flora and fauna of Kilimanjaro. We were a merry group of 4 and had many delightful conversations on a variety of topics such as politics, literature, biology, local cultures, Swahili, etc. Every evening after dinner, Abel and Simon would check our oxygen levels and heart rates to evaluate how we were adapting to rising altitude. We would talk about the day’s trek and get a briefing on what to expect the next day. Simon would set a comfortable pace for the treks every day. One guide always walked at the back to check on our movements and breathing to monitor our fitness through the treks.
I would like to highlight some of the altruistic acts of our team members. There were times when I was exhausted and Abel cheerfully offered to carry my day pack along with his stuff. On summit night, Daniel (one of our porters) was up and helped us with our final layers and also wished us luck (while he could have been happily asleep in his warm tent). Near Stella Point, when my hands got really cold, Abel sacrificed his hand warming gel sachets for me. The guides had thoughtfully carried along hot ginger tea in a thermos that provided a fresh burst of energy after a grueling 6 hour hike. Simon boldly went barehanded at Uhuru peak (where it was below -15C) to take photos on our camera. Abel and Simon simultaneously assisted me with walking while descending to base camp, as I had a painful toe injury. We had the most memorable Kilimanjaro experience and it was possible because of each and every one in our team!! Upon returning to the hotel (this time we stayed in Park View Hotel, which is centrally located), we had a mini celebration with our team members and Mdoe after which, we bid farewell to our team that had become our family for the past 8 days.
We had a pleasant safari experience as well. Davis, our driving guide, had a keen eye for spotting animals during the game drives. We travelled in a spacious & well-equipped LandCruiser (for just the two of us). Our hotel accommodation at Karatu town was beautiful, luxurious and comfortable.
Asante Sana Kili Brothers for everything!!!!!....until next time….!!

My partner and I did the lemosho route 8 days with Kili Brothers in October 2019. We both had an amazing and unforgettable experience with them. The organisation was perfect, we did not have to worry about any details, they planned everything for us, from the moment we arrived at the airport to the moment to leave for our next adventure in Tanzania. Our guide Abel and assistant guide Simon were great, very professional and kind. They gave us good advice and explanations. They encouraged us when things got harder and were always there to help. They encouraged us to walk at our own pace and take breaks whenever we needed. They took care of us when we got sick from altitude. My partner had to go down the mountain on day 6 because of altitude sickness, while I was able to make it to summit. We really felt in good hands with them and our health was #1 priority. Our waiter Daniel was always smiling and took such good care of us! Our chef Masawe was very good and food was always great! You will never miss any food, we probably even had too much (we lost appetite due to altitude sickness). All our team of porters was also great, always smiling despite the extremely hard work they do every day for us. Their songs gave us courage when needed. Kili brothers includes a portable private flush toilet, which we enjoyed so much, especially when you compare to the horrible toilets at the camps! We highly recommend Kilimanjaro Brothers to anyone who wants to climb this mountain, you will not regret it! Asante sana, one team one dream!
