Our tour guide, Carolina, was friendly and knowledgeable. She had our small group comfortable and excited instantly. Our driver was excellent and we never felt unsafe.
The lagoon was more than we imagined. We jumped off the boat and swam while tunes played in the boat anchored nearby. After working up an appetite we were treated to four different styles of tacos at a roadside restaurant as well as local beverages.
We then visited the ruins and Carolina was extensively knowledgeable and entertaining. Bonus, we got to see a family of monkeys!
On the way back to the port we stopped for fresh golden pineapple as we all settled in to quietly rest after a fun filled day.
I greatly appreciate the authentic nature of this excursion verses a similar previous excursion offered through the cruise line.
We plan to return with our extended family and hope to book this excursion again.

This is our third time to Bacalar and by far, the best. Our first two times were booked through a cruise ship excursion and although they were both great, did not compare to the amazing tour provided by Chac Ek. Leo was our tour guide and was absolutely amazing. Not only was he knowledgeable and personable, he was also courteous and accommodating. Our included lunch was truly delicious and worthy of such a great trip. The free-flowing tequila shots were the icing on the cake and made the afternoon beautiful and surreal. We cruise 2-3 times every year and will book with Chak Ek when we visit Costa Maya from now on. <3

This was a great experience. I would certainly book with Chac Ek Costa Maya again. They were very professional, communicated well before the excursion.
The instructions were easy to follow. We found Lorenzo waiting with a Chak Ek sign. He welcomed us and walked us to the van. We did a quick bathroom break because it was over an hour drive with children ages 4-10. Lorenzo provided some history about the area. About halfway there we stopped to purchase pineapples and mangoes at a local stand. The pineapples were delicious. We also stopped on the return. We did run into a roadblock due to a local dispute with the government. Lorenzo ensured that we understood the situation and were comfortable. After some time it cleared up and we were off to Bacalar.
The day on the lagoon was great. The water is crystal clear. We had 2 stops to swim and visited several cenotes. Each stop, Lorenzo shared history which I enjoyed. Lorenzo had a cooler with drinks and snacks so we were not hungry or thirsty. After the lagoon we went for tacos then head back to the port. Overall a great day with a great guide and driver.

I went on this tour with my friends from our cruise ship. Very easy to find with all the information they send you in advance to make you feel comfortable. The tour guides went above and beyond for us. They bought my friend who was sea sick after the boat a sprite to help her stomach. The women who was our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the area. She really made this experience. The only negative was that the pictures make it seem like you will stop at swings or hammocks but you do not. They let you out to swim in one area but not the areas with the swings. You have to go to a resort to access them. We were bummed because that was why we booked this specific company. However, the personalization of this tour fully made up for it. Our guide let us stop on the way back at a stand to buy mangos because we asked. We were so grateful and wouldn’t have gotten that with a large excursion through the cruise ship. Highly recommend!

We did not have the opportunity to take the tour due to our port being shut down however the communication was excellent and they gave us a full refund. We knew where to meet our guide with detailed instructions. I was very satisfied

- Does not seem worth $140 to me. I would not book this again.
It is hard to provide a 3 out of 5 when some things were fantastic, but others were non-existent.
- Watch wording on alcohol. We had two beers.
- No pop, no snacks, nothing else.
- get on pontoon and go around lagoon for 30 minutes. Then 1 hour and a bit walking in the beautiful water.
- Liked our tour guide, but he could not get music to play for a long time
- Lunch was at Taco Loco. It was good and way too much. I did have a beer with lunch
- Transportation was a taxi ride for 1 hour 20 minutes each way
- We never had a 2nd part to this trip. It was only 2 hours long at the lagoon. (1:30 to get there, 2 hours in lagoon, 1:30 back = 5 hours)

My husband and were on a cruise and did not book this through the ship, so we were a little worried about the experience. One we found our guide and driver, the experience was outstanding. While the cruise people were bused in large groups, we had a much more personal and private tour. Our guide, Judith spoke 5 languages and was amazing. She provided us with so much background information on the area and the people, the towns we passed through, etc. The drive, guide and captain made sure that we had a great experience from beginning to end. We were provided with drinks, snacks and a delicious taco lunch. We had a whole boat basically to ourselves and felt like celebrities. The captain took us to see some cenotes, wild life. and nice spots in the lagoon. Our guide joined us in the water in a few spots that we stopped to swim and enjoy. Both my husband and I agreed that this tour was the best and highlight of our trip. We highly recommend it. Ask for Judith, as she was the best!

We will be on the Radiance of the Seas arriving in port at 7:a.m. and leaving at 2:00 p.m. - it is stated that this tour is 6 hours - which I assume we would be back to ship at 1:00 p.m.? How long is the journey to location and back?

A party of 12 is interested in this tour from our cruise ship in September. Interested in MORE details as far as how long travel time is between each location and how much time we actually get to experience the cenotes, do we get to swim in them? Do we spend more time in the van and on the pontoon, due to the locations, than actually experiencing what you're taking us to see? I find this to be true alot of the time. This is only a 6 hour excursion which is perfect as long as most of it is not spent simply traveling to the locations. Could you please provide more details so we can reserve sooner than later. Thanks so much!

If I remember correctly, it took about an hour to get there from the cruise port. We booked a private tour, which I recommend. The B7C lagoon is awesome to see & swim in. We will return someday.

Hi, these tour companies work around the cruise ship schedules, that is how they operate so I don´t think you Will have any problems. But you can also send them an email and ask specifically with your date and itinerary, they answer right away.

I am not sure. You would have to get off the ship as soon as it docks, maybe get to the designated meeting place and be on your way by 9am. The lagoon is maybe 40 mins away. 2 hours in the lagoon is ample time howeverI would message tour company directly. They will give you a more definite answer.

Since we will only be in port from Noon to 7pm we will have limited time and prefer to skip the ruins to see as much of the Seven colors lagoon as possible.
I need to confirm that pickup and drop off point is at the Costa Maya pier to avoid wasting more time finding an office in Mahaual. Can you confirm pick up and drop off point?
I have this tour in my shopping cart but need that confirmation before I book.

Hello, thanks for your interest, the Costa Maya port is a privately owned area, as an outside company we are not allowed to pick up anyone inside, so our meeting point is just outside of the cruise ship terminal, its like a 10 minute walk to find us, not difficult at all. Once you are booked we will send specific instructions and a map on how to find us. Let me know if i can help you with any other questions or concerns.
Hello we are coming to Costa Maya on Norwegian next month. Our ship will be in port from 8 am to 5 pm. Would we be able to complete the tour and not jeapordize missing the boat departing?

We were also concerned about that but, they are extremely conscious of your time frame. They tweak your tour so you will not be late. Honestly, this is the way to go if you want to see the ruins and lagoon. Small Buses hold maybe 10-12. You are not waiting on 50 people to load up, use bathrooms etc. we were at the ruins well before the other large tours and leaving just as they arrived.

We are coming over Christmas week on Royal Caribbean. How long is the ride from the port to Bacalar? Some places describe it as long as 2 hours each way, others say 30 minutes. Can someone clarify this for me please?

This tour only talks about the lagoon in the description, but the reviews talk about the lagoon AND a stop at the Mayan ruins. I dont see an option for booking those together. How do I do this?
