The night was absolutely amazing! We took the 11pm tour and my friend and I were the only one scheduled for that time. We ended up having a private tour with our guide. Talking about our guide, Brian: the absolutely best! He is so sweet and made our experience 100% better! I’m planning to go back with my family this time and I will request our tour to be with him; i would advise anyone to do the same!

The overall experience of witnessing the bioluminescent algae was awesome. Being able to see the waves lighting up, and each splash did the same. We were able to see the water glow up like it had blue glitter mixed in. We could put our hands in the water, and see our hands glowing once we removed it from water. Witnessing this was fabulous. The bad and ugly matter though. I didn't see anywhere that Tandem kayaking was required when booking this for my family. I was under the impression that my husband would be required to tandem with our 11 year old, my 15 year old would have his own, and I would have my own. It was ONLY tandem kayaking. We learned very quickly that our family is not meant for tandem kayaking, even with the fact that all 4 of us have individual kayaking experience. The website stated we didn't need any experience, and I would like to say this is not for people with zero experience in kayaking or even tandem kayaking. The water was choppy and with minimal tandem kayaking experience, my oldest and I often found ourselves turning in circles, going far away from the group, running into other kayakers, etc. Katie, who was leading our group was extremely knowledgeable about our surroundings and stopped in multiple places to give us a scientific/historical lesson of everything we were seeing. This was cool to hear about, however, the booking also didn't make it seem like we would be spending 20 minutes holding onto a branch to learn about trees. My impression was that our time would be spent freely kayaking, maybe even brought to an island where we would be able to get out of the kayaks and swim or splash around. We also were not told that the water we were in was only about 4 feet deep. At the beginning of the tour, our guide was almost knocked out of her kayak by a manatee. This instilled panic in my entire family, as we were then worried about tipping and ending up in deep water. We also weren't told that that there was a chance of being tipped by manatees at all. The water was choppy and it was hard to maintain the same speed as the rest of the group. We were told at the beginning that our "end" tour guide, Alora, would always be behind us and that the group was "only as fast as our slowest kayaker". Both myself, oldest, and my husband and our youngest often were behind Alora. This did not ensure that Alora was keeping an eye on all kayakers, which we were told she was doing. Being able to witness the water lighting up was awesome, but the entire experience was more stressful than the booking would have led you to believe. We would not recommend for anyone who doesn't have experience in kayaking in general, or no experience in tandem kayaking. We would not recommend this to anyone who expects to just kayak, swim, or touch the water. There were 2-3 times where the guide stopped the tour to talk and it became overwhelming and was hard to concentrate on what she was saying when we were constantly paddling to stay in the group, not run into each other, or constantly turn around. If you plan on taking pictures and video, bring a camera that actually has night vision. You won't capture the beauty on your phone at all. Very disappointing to find that out the hard way. We would not repeat. in the hour and a half of the kayaking tour, we spent probably only 20 of it in a good mood. We were able to see a dolphin swim by, fish zipping around under water, and the water light up as we kayaked around.

Guide was very informative and biolum was beautiful! But they need to be more aware of the kayaking skill level of the group. That was my first time kayaking (and leading) and I got no pointers or help other than how to hold the paddle and be in sync. Made it difficult to appreciate the first part of the tour, until the panic subsided.
And I felt like the kayaking part was rushed. We were paddling too quickly to be able to really enjoy what we were seeing. Aside from the bio, the night sky was beautiful and I felt like we were not given enough time to enjoy any of it. We were jetting off to the next stop instead of enjoying the moment. And the lecturing was non-stop, informative, but non-stop.
I also felt like the final message of the tour was confusing. Like we should appreciate this special ecosystem and all its’ sparkly glory - but we’re also stressing it out AND part of the problem? Weird. Made me not want to go again AND made me feel guilty for being there.

My husband and I went on the clear kayak tour last night at 8:30 pm on a 3/4 full moon and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The glowing blue light was so bright and stunning, every second I was in awe. It was literally one of the best things I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to bring everyone I love here!! I’m already dying to come again lol! We loved Katie’s energy so much and felt so grateful she was our guide! She shared so much amazing information about the science behind the bioluminescence all around us that made it feel even more surreal and special! She also taught us a lot about the nature and history of the surrounding area. It was really cool to learn from her! Thank you Katie!! We felt super safe with her and loved that Florida Adventurer has smaller group sizes. Watching the bioluminescence light up all the fish around us and sparkling under the clear kayak was especially incredible. This is such a beautiful majestic place and an experience you don’t wanna miss definitely head there asap!!

This was an incredible experience! Truly one of the most magnificent things I've seen--certainly my favorite on this trip. Forget Disneyland, go feel like real-life Moana. We saw tons of little fish zipping around, a shark, and tons and tons of gorgeous, bright blue algae. I thought the pictures and photos used to advertise the experience were exaggerating--in fact, they don't do it justice. Our tour guide Patrick was funny, friendly, gave great explanations, and made us feel like part of the family.
Things to know:
-If you're particularly bad at kayaking, you might get left behind. Usually there will be 2 tour guides--one at the front and one at the back. If numbers don't work out, you might be in a smaller group with just one guide at the front. If you're teamed up with the funniest person you've ever met in your life, who also sucks at kayaking, you will likely get distracted, turn in circles, fall behind, and get lost. Due to absolutely no fault of our wonderful tour guide Patrick (I'm naming my firstborn after you, ily Patrick) we got completely lost and got adopted by a 2nd group (whom we also couldn't keep up with, incidentally). Even so, we never felt unsafe. The waters were still and calm, and we found our way back to the shore when it was time.
-The insects that sit around and bite at you on the shore before the tour are otherworldly. They're really small, like so small you can hardly see them. They gather at your ankles, and they itch like you wouldn't believe. Think a combination of fleas and mosquitoes but brimming with the fiery hatred of Satan. The bug spray definitely helped, but we put it on thicc. I recommend putting it on literally as soon as you step out of the car.
-We debated a lot whether to take the 8:45pm tour when it would still be a little light out, or the 11pm tour, when it would be completely dark. We ultimately picked the 8:45, which I liked because it was a lot less scary to go out with a little light than to venture out onto open waters in the black of night. I'm like, terrified of the ocean at night. The light didn't impact our ability to see the algae at all, so if you're not into staying out late, don't be afraid to pick the 8:45. There's also a lot of info about the brightness of the moon, and I suspect that it wouldn't actually make that big of a difference. The algae when we went (late July) was really, really bright.
Seriously, go do this! It was worth the flight out to Orlando alone. Be prepared to have a fun, informative, silly, spiritual experience.

Zack led our trip along with Dan & Sam. Zack was very knowledgeable about the lagoon & wildlife. We took our family, 5 adults, on the tip & were absolutely amazed as we watched the blue glow of darting fish, a small stingray & some crabs. The bioluminescence tour is an awesome experience! Bring mosquito repellant & towels for the ride home.

We had a knowledgeable guide who shared information about the ecosystem and the wildlife in the area. They were safety conscious and responsive to questions. We had a wonderful time on the water and the experience was fun for my wife and I.

Had an amazing experience. We had a perfect night that made the bioluminescent so vivid. Clint and his partner (she always made sure she backed us up) was passionate about his job.
We truly enjoyed every minute (well maybe not the mosquitoes lol! But they eased up once we were in the water). Took my son and his girlfriend who were visiting from Oregon. It’s a night we will never forget.

Tyler and Brennan were great. It was our first kayaking adventure and we loved it. We seen a shark and some other creatures. Our guides were personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
