We had an amazing experience out on the water with our tour guide Emmett. He was extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating. He guided us wonderfully throughout the tour and was very patient considering my kayaking skills! There was no pressure and he made the tour extremely enjoyable.
The only reason I do not give this tour 5 stars is due to a rearranged location at the last minute (after we had departed to drive to the location from Orlando) I found a missed call (due to having been driving) at a gas stop. When I returned the call I was made to feel like I had been in the wrong for not answering and it felt like I was inconveniencing them!
Having said that, The location and tour did go ahead and was brilliant. I would not hesitate to book again.

Bioluminescence was a nice experience. Guides stayed out until midnight waiting out the rain so that our tour could run. Javier was a great tour guide, very personal and insightful about the wildlife.

We booked this tour over the phone to make sure we knew everything we needed for the tour and that the weather was going to cooperate. The guy seemed nice and knowledgeable. He gave us directions as to where to meet our guide (they don't have a physical address). I also got an email telling us where to meet our guide. We arrived on time to our location. As we were looking for our guide, we got a phone call telling us out location changed. He starting giving us directions to the new location at a rapid pace. We were so frazzled that we messed up the directions. I tried calling back and he did not answer. We finally found the location at 7:43 for an 8 pm tour. Nothing was clearly marked and the guide was no where to be found. We called the guy who had called us back and exchanged multiple calls. He finally said the guide must of left. We were confused, our tour was scheduled for it 8 pm and we arrived at 7:43. He said he sent an email about the change of location, but I never received that email (I even asked for proof of that email which he.could not provide). We were frustrated and sad that were not going on our tour. The guy on the phone was rude and not helpful. At first he said he could cancel/refund or reschedule. When we decided to take the refund, he refused. He was unprofessional and nasty and did not want to help in anyway. If he was kind and tried to help us in anyway, this could of been a much different situation. Luckily, BK adventures was on site (clearly marked) and made room for us on their 8 pm tour. The chaotic situation was solved quickly once BK assisted us. Don't book with Florida Advenuture use BK adventures!

Hello, we appreciate your review.
However, that not exactly how the phone call went.
1st off, our vehicles are clearly marked w/signage, sandwich boards and guides in branded clothing. When u arrive after the designated time, and the guides are at the shoreline, we don't waste batteries for tardy guests, we shut everything down till we arrive back on shore.
2nd, we emailed you 3hrs in advance of your scheduled tour time, also tried to call. If you don't check the email you left as contact information, we can not reach you. If you don't answer your phone, that you left as contact info, how can we reach you?
3rd, you were asked to be to the launch site a half hr prior to your launch time. Orientation will begin at 7:45. If you didn't see anyone on shore, you missed your tour.
How this becomes our fault is beyond us. You were lucky BK was on shore to bring you out.
BK is also a great company, but to highlight them taking your money to put you on tour, that's what they're supposed to do, it's a business.
We said we do not offer refunds, unless we couldn't make the tour. You were at the wrong location. We can not resell those seats, you sgouod not have been refunded. We sent you a copy of the rebooking email, as you opened it the follow day. You were in a remote location, clearly, and there is no data signal at Beacon 42.
A word of advice, check your emails when you have water activities booked, situation and conditions change, and so can departing points due to said conditions..
You were refunded when you shouldn't have been, and you got to leave an awesome review. Good for you! Hope you have a blessed day!

OK so when we entered the park, there's more than one Kayak company that's on the sides until you get to the end, we didn't know which group was ours since there were multiple, so we had to ask each guide where our company was. That took longer than we expected. Then because alot of other people didn't know where it was we started almost a half hour late.That's not my issue. We are novice kayakers, and they never mentioned it was only 2 person kayaks, not single. I have gone down the Nantahala river and so has my girlfriend. So this particular day, there was about 10+ mph winds due to a storm that was forming. You could hear thunder and they said it was far enough out where it wouldn't affect us, well the wind kept picking up, as we started our journey with guide the waves were hitting the side of our Kayak we tried staying center but we tipped over, it was too deep where we couldn't touch the ground (im 6'1) so there was a assistant guide that said it was their first day, so he helped my girlfriend get out of the water and they both injured themselves,scraping against sand and mangrove roots, I didn't. So the guide ended up bringing us all out of the water and said it was canceled due to the wind. As we sat in our car changing clothes we noticed they left us and just went back out in those dangerous conditions. I don't know what happened after but the guide lied several times saying weather was fine and that it was canceled. With the risks involved, I think he wanted the money more than making sure people were safe, I'm sure owner will look up previous weather report and I want to see what you have to say, kayaking at night is dangerous, but unsafe weather conditions with novice kayakers is a risk they are OK taking because they make you sign forms to prevent them of their responsibility, so they can just do whatever they want. They didn't probly even make a report of what happened, because if they did they should've made sure we were OK by following up. Instead all we got was a thank you (processing payment). Safety comes second to money for this company.

Thank you for leaving a review. However, this is Florida Adventurer. Our guides take detailed notes of every tour, those notes are reviewed every day. I have re-read the notes of every tour for the last 4 weeks, jic we missed something. Guests don't just roll out of thier kayaks every day. It's a big deal when that happens, especially since you couldn't touch, so that can only happen in the Canal. We would have been all over the follow up the next day. You didn't book w/Florida-Adventurer. Maybe re read your confirmation email as to who you actually booked with, as we can't remove reviews from our account that are meant for other businesses..

Our guide, Emmitt, was great! Despite not being able to see bioluminescent sights, he made the best of the situation and showed us wildlife (horseshoe crabs, fish, and tiny cone jellyfish).

It's true, there has beena lot of sulfer releasing from the lagoon bed. This will remove the oxygen from the immediate areas and make the water go dark. It is impossble to predict and it appears its been happening in a cpl locations sporadically. We're happy to bring you back out, please give the office a call at 321-735-9400

This is an excellent adventure for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to experience something different in Florida. The bioluminescent algae was bright and plentiful especially under the clear kayaks. The fish lit up the water as they swam from our paddle strokes. It was a clear dark night so the stars were incredible, our group saw 3 shooting stars.
Our guides Nick and Clint were great, both were knowledgeable, professional and very helpful. This is a great tour group.

I just finished this tour last evening with my family (we were a party of 5 adults). The pros: Brian (our guide) was a very entertaining fellow, and he brought us to a spot where we could see luminescent waters and FISH literally jumping into some of the kayaks.
They provided my whole party with sturdy two-seater kayaks, paddles, glow sticks, and life jackets with the necessary safety features. FYI: skip the clear kayaks; they are not worth the money or the work to paddle them. The other guides on the tour were also amiable and took safety seriously. I would have liked to have given it four stars, but here are a few cons:
We got in the water 30 minutes late. We watched several other tours bring in larger groups than ours ahead of us, who all started on time. When we were finally allowed to enter the water, we were instructed to stay close together—very close. My husband and I are experienced kayakers, and not everyone else is. Fair enough.
HOWEVER....
During most of the tour, our kayak was constantly getting rammed into, and I took a hit to the head with a paddle twice. We tried breaking away within a safe distance of the group but were told we had to stay very close, which meant more bumper car action.I almost felt like we were being treated like toddlers. Heading back, the water was a bit choppy and a few in our group were struggling to get back to the point that we offered to tow one of them in.
The cons aside, my family really did enjoy this extraordinary experience. The view of the stars was spectacular. I'm a Space Coast local and would return to this area to kayak again, but I probably would go with a different company.

Hello and than you for paddling w/us. There are several companies that must use the same launch site and all the companies keep pretty much the same time schedule, it's very important to arrive on time. When guests are late, it will throw off our launch sequence. We can not launch, while other groups are landing/launching as guests will get mixed into other companies groups etc. We do our best to launch on time, but there's always those two parties that are just "2mins away". It's hard to juts leave a party in the dust that tells you they are 2 minutes away.
Paddling w/30 other people in a group, you will be bumping and be being bumped into, that is just part of the deal. We're paddling in total darkness, otw, in the middle of a hazardous wildlife refuge, so yes, the guides will ask the groups to stay together, however, not so much so that you're being hit in the head w/a paddle, that was someone who didn't know what they were doing, we're sorry to hear that happened, but that's not something we can control. l am curious though, you mentioned other were struggling in the paddle back and that you offered to tow them back to shore?! That was pretty nice of you to offer.. How did you plan to tow guests back to shore w/no tow rope? Our guides carry tow ropes, and if anyone needed to be assisted back to shore, our guides wouod instruct them how to paddle themselves back to shore. So they learn how to deal w/adversity while paddling otw. This is what we do. We appreciate you paddling w/us and your review, however we would actually emplore you to visit w/a different company in the future. This way you can see every tour company experiences the same adversities you've mentioned..

So many mosquitos. The group was too large. Seats on the clear bottom boats are very uncomfortable. The range in the level of experience among the group made for a long kayak. A lot of people didn’t know how to kayak which makes it pretty boring for more experienced kayakers because we had to keep stopping for other people in our group. Seeing the bioluminescence and animals was cool but not worth it because of all of the above.

Hello, and thank you for your review! It sounds like you were hoping for a private tour. Unfortunately, as the product description says, we will take out up to 15 boats on any tour. Naturally skill levels will range. This activity is open to all skill levels and guests of all ages. We're gald you found some pleasure in the wildlife and the bioluminescence, since that was what was offered. Thank you for youo review😊

I do not recommend A Day Away Kayak Tours. I booked the bioluminescent night kayak tour in January through another booking site for our March trip to Cocoa Beach. On the day of the tour I received a call at 5pm from Josh with A Day Away stating that the tour guide was stuck in traffic and would not make our 8pm tour. He asked if we minded going at a later time that evening or the next day. We chose to go at the same 8pm time the next day.
On the following day, we ran into a wreck on the way to the site entering Titusville. The wreck covered both lanes and we were diverted by police to turn around. We noticed that they were at the point of sweeping the glass and decided to turn back around to see if they would let us pass as there is no other way to go around. At this point, it is 7:30 and we repeatedly tried calling the office to let someone know we would be running late. No one answered at the office and the voicemail stated to call the number from our confirmation. The only confirmation I received was from another booking site which did not contain that information.
We pulled up to the location that was given to us from Google Maps and the booking site and it was a Napa Auto Parts on Forest Drive. At that point, the guide, Brian, called to see where we were. I explained that we followed the directions that were given to us from our booking. He stated that he didn't know where we were and that he'd "see us next time." He said he would put a note on our account for a refund, but to please call the office. We told him that we had been trying to call the office for 30 minutes several times, but no answer. He said, "keep trying" and let me go.
I called the office as soon as I hung up with Brian. Josh immediately answered clearly angry. I told him what had happened and he challenged me the entire conversation. He told me that they do not refund. He offered a voucher to use any time, but I told him that I live over 700 miles away and would most likely not be returning. He said, "Well, I don't know what you want to do then." I said that I would need to dispute the charge with Booking site. He said, "Fine. We'll fight it!" and hung up on me.
I did dispute it with booking site and A Day Away lied to them saying that we were a no call no show and stated that I received a confirmation from Viator! I never received a second confirmation from them directly, only the booking site.
So, we didn't receive the service we paid $160 for and it was because their guide was stuck in traffic the day before. We offered them grace for that and remained flexible with them, but they could not do that for us? They must really need the $160.
I never received a separate confirmation. They are the ones that had to reschedule. The Google Maps directions (screenshot of where it took us attached) were incorrect. And I'm met with unprofessional behavior? The name that comes up when you select directions from our booking came up with another name, so also beware of BK Adventures.
It didn't take us long to see the terrible reviews from Google, Yelp, etc. for me to realize that I should have read more reviews before booking. Lesson learned. Please learn from me and read some of the other reviews and book with another outfit They are wild.
Lastly, if you are looking to book a bioluminescent tour, be sure to check the seasons. I also didn't realize March is not peak season, so there was a high chance we wouldn't have seen anything anyway. Again, lesson learned. Don't book with this company. I organize trips for a living and this company is beyond unprofessional. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere otherwise you might have a birthday surprise ruined like we did.

As stated, you didn't book your tour directly through us, you used a 3rd party to make your reservation, which is fine. Your choice to use a 3rd party, instead of booking directly through the company you chose. As our website states, we do not offer refunds for "no shows", which clearly you were.
Even w/no accident you were still going to the wrong location. Why would we send you a confirmation email asking you to meet us at a Napa Auto parts store, for your kayaking tour? We wouldn't. In our confirmation email we ask you to read the instructions prior to departing from your tour, which you clearly did not do, so you can see the directions and arrive on time, or if you have questions you could have called us to clarify the directions, you didn't.
It is a company policy to not refund guests who do not arrive for thier tour, as it costs us money to have the guide out there waiting for guests who didn't follow the instructions or got lost and do not show up. Should we not pay the guide who was there and ready for your tour, or should we pay them twice while only charging you once?
So we offer guests such as yourself a raincheck that is good until you use it.
It is unfortunate that you feel your arrival to an autoparts store is our fault, when clearly there are over 1k reviews from guests who managed to find us with the same instructions. Is it frustrating when guests do not arrive for thier scheduled tour, certainly, but that is why we have the policies we have, in place. Otherwise your poor planning would cost us money, through no fault of our own.
As you mentioned, you have a raincheck that is good until you use it. Literally good until you return.
You've mentioned that we offered you a later departure time to go that same night, and you opted not go, but instead wait until the following day. You said you were "stuck in traffic" the following day. That is fine, we hear that all the time so we issued you a raincheck, again.
As you organize trips for a living, we find it profoundly odd, that you didn't know what season we were in, you didn't know where we were located and you have slandered every other company, by name, while complaining about the experience you had w/the only company you didn't mention. Odd.
Unfortunately we do have some negative, though undeserved, reviews from guests such as yourself who take no personal accountability for thier own actions. Are we perfect everyday, no, noone is.
We have over 1k 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor alone, we have 20 negative reviews. We feel that is a pretty good record, and great a indicator that you can almost certainly count on having an amazing experience w/us!
You received a confirmation email, you received a rebooking email. You never once mentioned you called to verify directions, which, had you planned your trip ahead of time, you would have immediately pondered why you were being sent to an autoparts store for your kayaking tour, no?

It is a very interesting tour. Best thing for me was the highly interesting science behind the phenomenon of the bioluminescence and other beings in the water and the ecosystem at the lagoon. Katie, our guide, was very knowledgeable!! She made the tour such a learning experience, which it was cool! Only bad part is that we stayed on the water just an hour out of the hour and a half that we booked.
