We lucked out with the most beautiful, clear day into the Yukon Territory. We traveled with 4 Jeeps in our party and it was easy to follow along with the iPads provided. As others recommended, if you are on a cruise, de-board the boat as soon as you can to get in line to get your jeep. Once we checked in, there was a long wait. We were able to beat a lot of the bus tours and had many of the sites to ourselves. Make sure to leave time coming back to Alaska. Customs returning to the US was quick but we did wait about an hour in line to get into Canada in the morning. This was a great way to see the sights on your own. We took the top off the Jeep and had a blast!!

What a great way to tour the Yukon. We had a brand new jeep that rode really well. The guided tour was spot on! The suspension bridge was awesome and a must do.

Beautiful drive along the Klondike trail. The audio info wasn't very significant..as a previous customer mentioned. Just rent any car and do your own research. We booked this month's in advance and the 4 of us had to deal with a 2 door jeep.

This was a great choice for our day in Skagway off the Discovery Princess! There were 8 of us, so we rented 2 Jeeps. The Jeeps were clean and comfy (even for my teenager who slept most of the way.) The GPS guided tour was perfect! Very informative and came on at just the right time to explain what we were seeing. The staff was courteous and helpful. I was only a little disappointed with Emerald Lake. It was a bit anticlimactic. The dessert in Carcross was more interesting. The only other critique would be: with the price we paid, I would expect the fuel to be included. It only took about $30 to fill the tank, but it was a bit of an inconvenience.

We drove a new Gladiator jeep that rode smoothly. We loved being able to stop and take pictures at our own pace along the way to Emerald Lake. It was a great day!

We decided to rent a jeep to give us more control over our drive up the Yukon Highway and so glad we did! The rental was easy, the jeep was like new and the guys at the DIY Jeep rental shop were professional and super nice. We drove up to Emerald Lake making multiple stops along the way. Once at the lake we attempted a hike, but was overcome with mosquitos and some fresh bear scat that encouraged us to cut the hike short. Bring your repellent!!! Aside from that, awesome experience! So many incredible sites! Absolutely gorgeous country!!!

The GPS/iPad + notebook, gave us a clear explanation of what we were seeing, and was a real innovation for self-guided tours. The scenery was spectacular, and we must have picked the right weather!
The vehicle was comfortable and the running boards helped our elderly passengers get in and out of the higher seats (although it was still difficult for the eldest). Highly recommend this tour.

Great trip and easy to do! We loved the views and the audio was a fantastic add - highly recommend and we appreciated not being on a huge tour bus.

We prepaid this rental with Southeast Tours thru Tripadvisor. I'll share this info so you don't have to spend an hour walking around Skagway to figure out where the Jeep is. The address for Southeast Tours is wrong on their website. They said they moved last year, so I don't know why they haven't changed it online. I called them and got the correct address, where we waited in line for 10 minutes to find we had to go to the AVIS rental car location that we'd just walked past. But wait, there's more waiting! It took them nearly an hour to process rentals for the 5 people in front of us.
Once we got the Jeep, the trip was enjoyable. It was nice to have the freedom to get out of the car whenever we wanted (as opposed to a bus or train ride). The car comes with an iPad with a narrated tour that had a lot of interesting information. We stopped for two bear spottings and took pictures. There are several beautiful falls along the way too, and the Carcross Desert. We drove up to Emerald Lake and had lunch that we'd packed. On the return trip all of the buses were gone, so we could stop and have the places to ourselves.
Save an hour to allow time to drive thru the Klondike Gold Rush National Park located right outside of Skagway. Admission is free, and there are interpretive displays and level paths to walk thru the abandoned town. There were wildflowers growing everywhere, so it was very pretty. This stop was a nice surprise.

This was the best excursion we took in Alaska/Canada. It was easy to pick and choose where we wanted to pull over and take pictures. We took our time and didn't have to crowd into a bus or train. The audio tour was good. All around I enjoyed the excursion.

Assuming you get a full tank of gas and need to return with full tank? Or is gas included in price?

Approximately how long does this tour take? I understand it is self-paced, but could you please give me an approximation?

You can return the Jeep after 10 minutes if you want or anytime you to the maximum amount you purchased. So if you purchased 4 hours, you can return anytime up to 4 hours.
By the way, it is an awesome tour. Will do it again for maximum 8 hours next time!

Information provided says that infant seats are available. Does this mean only car seats for infants? Or do you have larger sizes available (e.g. 4 year old)?

Is there a plan in place in case of car trouble? Do you know if there is cell phone reception along this route?

There is NO cell service once you leave the town limits. We were told, if we have any difficulties, simply flag someone down, especially buses, and they would help us return. All the vehicles seem brand new and very well maintained, I don't think you'll have an issue, but don't depend on regular cellular service!

the cost is per jeep, so if they all fit in one jeep, it's the same price 1 and all
