Great chance to get to the top of the mountain in the summer. We enjoyed our tour and hike. Tram was smooth.

Great trip. Our guide made a few extra stops. He turned around for us when a moose was spotted. And showed us an eagles nest with momma watching over her babies. The trip down was great. Our guide accommodated us when we asked for an earlier pickup. The tour and the guide, Chris, were great.

What a scam!!!! The drop-off is to a highway gas station and back that's it! Horrible company! They have no idea what they're doing! Pick ANY other company!

You purchased your ticket online at our website which clearly states that you are taking an inexpensive shuttle to and from Girdwood. The website has a frequently asked questions and makes it very clear what you are getting and what to expect. It also says that you will be dropped at a drop off point in Girdwood to catch the local FREE shuttle into town. There was no deception on the website. You tried to push the driver to take you up to the Tram which would have taken an extra 30 minutes each way. I the owner intervened and told you had we priced that out and did that run like you wanted it would be no less than $129.00 each way. An UBER cost $149.00 one way and there are no other shuttles operating with this much frequency and convenience. You also wanted us to pay for your tram ticket. When you didn't get your way you bad mouthed the company on the way down and on the way back trying to enlist people to join your cause. You should have asked for a refund and not gone at all. Look you paid $49.00 each way for a 45 minute ride each way. I would say you got a steal but you wanted more during a time that gas prices are twice the national average... You wanted a ride to Girdwood to hike and do the Tram the shuttle was on time departing and you got picked up at the time you requested on time. Yet you still made two different drivers uncomfortable picking you up and dropping you off because you wanted limousine service at a cheap price.

This "self-guided tour" was a complete joke. First, the ad makes it sound like they're at least taking you to the tram. OH NO. The shuttle literally dropped us at a GAS STATION and said "call the Girdwood bus to get into town." !! And of COURSE they don't even bother to coordinate times with the bus which only operates on set times, so we had to spend HALF AN HOUR at the gas station - literally a GAS STATION - hanging around in the parking lot waiting for the shuttle WITH OUR KIDS. And on the way back? THE SAME THING. Half an hour at the gas station waiting for the tour van. And the "self-guided tour" by the way? Means GO BUY YOUR OWN TICKETS. This is one of the most egregious examples of false advertising and cheating tourists I have seen in my entire life. For almost $400 for the four of us!! SHAME ON YOU, VIATOR.

A Quick search of other GUIDED tours to the Tram hovers around $199.00 per person ours is $98.00. This is because you don't get to break away from the group and are sheep herded around and on a time schedule. By buying a self guided tour you were allowed to break away and do it on your own and saved $64.00 per person since the tram ticket is only $35.00. This is exactly what the Turnagain Arm Shuttle strives to provide "SAVINGS". There is absolutely "NO" deception as you read further down. The "Gas" station is attached to the town mall so there is plenty to do while you wait for your shuttle.
Thank you for your review below is what you read on Viator when you purchased your ticket as you read along your description/review is exactly what is printed on Viator. Also when you go to our website if you still needed help in making a clear decision we have a help section that will walk you step by step of what to expect so there would be no surprises. It also gives you a link to the Girdwood Shuttle schedule so again there is no surprise. The company also hands you a map with information on how to catch the shuttle into Girdwood. I am so sorry you feel you did not get what you bought. If we included the tram cost we would have to up the total price of the package and you would not have been able to save by buying a self-guided tour.

During a self-guided tour, you have the freedom to explore the space any way you want without needing to follow a tour guide or feel pressure of being rushed. It allows you to get away from the crowd.

More of a shuttle to and from Hotel Alyeska. Expected more during ride. Didn’t realize tram tickets not included. Too long of a stay at hotel.

It is true that the tour is basically a ride to Alyeska. However, the guide on the tour was excellent with information about the area on the way there and back. The guide was great, made the trip run ahead of schedule and communicated well. The guide made the trip with his tips and suggestions for the area.

Miss leading ad. This had nothing to do with the Tram except a buss ride to the tram from Anchorage $200.00 buss ride for two people for a 30 minute ride????

The title in the tour says Self Guided. That means you are not on a tour and you are on your own and will need to pay for your experiences on your own. If you Google Self Guided tours you will see the definition. What we do is "Get You There" and you save. On our website it clearly states at the top: The Turnagain Arm Shuttle is a comprehensive Tour Company providing an assortment of self-guided tours and mainline transport to breathtaking sights along the Turnagain Arm. We have prepared this site to act as a quick reference and resource guide to help you plan the life changing experiences you want to enjoy on your Alaskan adventure. You hired a company to get your there and we did that. I don't no how to fix your experience of a taxi ride. Please explain how getting you to your experience could have changed your outcome? You bought a departure time and a return time. Uber would have cost you three times the amount we charged. You did not buy a tour you bought a ride. As you stated on your review we are a shuttle company.

The shuttle was flawless on pick up and drop off, with perfect stops and narration. Driver and his wife stopped for us to see mom and baby moose 10' away.
I took the tram up and then hiked up to the top, but you can hike to the top and get a free ride down, but it looked exhausting. Great views. Then I hiked the winner creek extension trail to the day lodge and rode the public bus a bit. Great day worth every penny.

I came to visit a friend in Alaska for 2 weeks in May and we did this on 23rd May 2018. We met our tour guide, Mike I think his name was, in Anchorage and since there were only 2 of us, he took us to a few more places than advertised. Mike was absolutely outstanding and really went the extra mike to make sure we got to see a lot. He dropped us off at the tram, where we took it up to the top. We took advantage of being able to go up and back down all day for just $30 so went up and down a couple of times. We went out in the snow, had lunch in the restaurant and looked round the gift shop. The views were absolutely fantastic! We managed to spend a good 4 hours up there. Everything was very well organised, especially getting to and from Anchorage. Special mention to Mike again! Great job and great tour, thoroughly recommend!
