        This tour was extremely overpriced.
Unfortunately to an unsuspecting Australian we thought $1500 FJD was acceptable although it was not.

We were picked up from Denarau and taken to Tau village which was just over an hour or so.
We were charged $10 FJD for Sarongs for men and women ( this was outlined ) although they were cut up pieces of material not sarongs.

We were expecting a traditional culture tour, no one was dressed up in traditional clothing. No “ warriors “ we were asked to donate to the church, we were then asked to pay $5 per coconut. They sang a couple of songs and then they asked us to donate for singing those songs.

We did not get a school tour because it was school holidays but still had to pay full price.

We were cooked a lovo lunch in what looked like a rubbish burn pile.
All up we spent $1700 Fijian on this tour not including the necklaces we purchased.

I felt this was a huge money grab and felt they were so rude constantly asking for money. The things we got should have been included for $1500

We then spoke to the resort they said the tours should cost no more than $200 per group.
I have received a lot of messages saying the company is renowned for ripping off tourists.

Always book with your resort for tours.

On the plus side we cold not fault their transfers to and from the airport at all.

Very enjoyable tour for our family of 2 adults and 3 young kids. The coach driver and tour guide were excellent. We enjoyed the kava ceremony and welcome songs. They did put sarongs/sulu’s around us all unless our knees were covered. (Dress everyone in long pants/dress/skirt to avoid) We had read this and were prepared to pay the $10fjd each to support the locals. It would be great if funds were used towards a sewing machine to hem them, tourists may be more inclined purchase.
We were not asked to gift kava or offered any coconuts. Staff and villagers were polite and respectful. The highlight was seeing the school and kids. We brought a carry on suitcase of exercise books, stationary, literacy & numeracy resources which were gratefully received. Some items were also shared among the village children. There are opportunities to donate to the church, school & tip the singers but it was not pushed. The lovo lunch was delicious, there was more than enough food and vegetarian options. There was a souvenir table after lunch with high prices but it is optional. Take change, water and enjoy the Fijian culture and hospitality.

We booked online from home and the webpage listed numerous things that would be included in the half day experience. Email communication was good, and pickup was on time. However, we never would have booked if we knew so much was not being included.
        # The light lunch was just juices bought by the driver who nipped into a local service station shop.
        # Half the journey was cancelled as the local elders had apparently closed it starting on our day of travel
        # The tour did not include the local village or cave as stated on the webpage. We had purchased sarongs specifically for this visit
        # There was no opportunity to buy anything from the markets
        # There was no celebratory coconut
        # The horse ride was very short and the horses were very malnourished
        # The tour ended very early as the driver had to get other people from the airport, so we were returned to our hotel.
        1/5 Would not recommend

Bula Daniel, we sincerely apologize that your trip turned out that way. There are times when things happen in the local villages which are notified to the company late. The driver that took you has been taken to task for rushing the trip back as that is something that they are reminded not to do. We hope that the next time you do visit Fiji we will be able to compensate you on your inconvinience.

Highly recommend! Myself and sisters completed this beautiful Fijian Cultural tour to Tau Village and left feeling so touched and wholesome by our experience. We loved knowing that our contributions go to this beautiful village. We all felt extremely welcome by the locals + school children of Tau Village and felt completely privileged to have the opportunity to spend the day immersing in Fiji’s beautiful culture. From being shown around the school by the children, yarning about their exams, favourite games, to the laughter, jokes and many photos the children wished for with us to the welcoming Kava ceremony in the Village, to drinking coconuts from the young men, to participating in song and dance, not to mention the beautiful traditional Fijian Lovo made for us to have for lunch at the house to end our tour. We all feel extremely grateful for our experience and wholeheartedly loved our day experiencing and educating ourselves on Fiji. Thank you all of Mick’s Tour for having us with you to learn about people, culture and land of Fiji. We had so much fun. We already can’t wait to come back! Also, big thanks and appreciation to our driver James for all your kindness + time!

We did the zip lining and the village tour. Let me first start by saying the zip lining was 10/10. The locals were kind, fun and treated us so well. We had the best time ever and the zip lining was definitely a highlight. After we did this for a couple of hours, the driver, who I must add was absolutely lovely, took us to Tua village, I was so excited to do this and had purchased lead pencils, boxes of coloured pencils, erasers, rulers, you name it, I had spent over $100 on stationery and some chocolates too. So we arrive in the village to be told we can’t wear our hats and needed to put on a sarong, that initially I was touched by. That quickly changed when the owner of micks tours said oh they are $10 each. I stayed in a good mindset and I was quite happy to buy it. We then went and had a kava ceremony that was great and they welcomed us to the village. I was feeling pretty touched by all of and adored how they all dressed up for us and welcomed us to their village. We then went to another hut where they danced and sung and got us up to dance which was pretty funny. Feeling quite privileged and happy that finished and then she appeared with a box that we were expected to pay for the entertainment. So we did, I was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable, but quite happily gave them some money as we had specifically taken out some cash to give them at the end of the day anyway. So then we went to their church and she said oh we really want to rebuild it and if you feel like donating that would be great, her little boy was holding a wooden bowl for us to put money in. Well now we were completely out of cash!! I knew they had some jewellery we could buy later but I was all out, I told her several times, oh I’m out of money now, but I think she just pretended she didn’t hear me.
We walked out of the church and one of the men was trimming up green coconuts and said to me, would u like to try some coconut juice, out of respect I said oh yes sure thank you, she immediately said oh that’s $5!!! I was like, holy crap I’m out of money!!
Anyway we then went to the school which I was busting with excitement to give the kids the stuff I had lugged all the way from Australia! We were sat down in the principals office where he sat and pretty much ran down all the kids, saying they are so far behind academically to other village kids and that they really need to try and be more than they were, I got pretty annoyed with the way he running them down. He then produced a big book with DONATIONS in huge letters on the front and sat back waiting for us to donate! But…as I said I was out of cash! I half expected a eftpos machine to be produced.
We then went into year 1, I asked how many classrooms there were and they said 4 so I divided a box of pencils with the kids as I needed to leave stuff in the bag to make sure everyone got something.
We left year 1 and walked straight past another class and went to year 8 and they were doing exams so she said we can’t come in, the teacher came out and she said, oh give all the rulers to these kids.
She then directed us back to the bus! I said oh I still have this huge bag with all these things for the kids, she said oh just give it to the kids back in the village.
So we left the school and went to her house for lunch, it was a lovo lunch that is cooked in the ground but we didn’t see that, it was all on the table and was very well presented. As I got closer I saw the millions of fly’s sitting all in it! The lunch had chicken, chips, spinach in coconut cream, it was stone cold and the chicken was incredibly dry, I was really concerned that I would get sick so once again out of respect I had a nibble on things but really ate nothing, I wasn’t game. She then pointed us to a table that had jewellery and other so called handmade things and encouraged us to buy, I explained again I was out of cash.
It was then time to leave and I said, oh I have all this stuff for the kids and she said oh just give it all to me.
We left in the bus and as we were backing down the steep driveway, she came running out stopping the bus, she got on the bus and said to us the other couple, oh u didn’t pay for the coconut!!! I was so embarrassed and said, I don’t have any money!!!! Thankfully the other beautiful couple paid for mine!!
The whole village tour seemed like a complete shakedown and scam that they do to everyone, I really had to do a review on this to enlighten other people if they go on this. To me it was a complete rail road and really put a bad taste in my mouth. This woman and the principal were the only 2 Fijian people that made our trip feel like we were used and abused! I paid $400 aus for this which is about $600fj.
        Very very disappointing

Firstly, we thank you for choosing to use our services. We have looked into this matter and will address this to the people concerned. Issues about sarongs and coconuts are actually detailed in our tour description which is at an extra cost. This being addressed has shone a light on how we will handle such situations in the future. We genuinely apologize for the incovinience this has caused you and your family. We will endevour to make this a learning curb for us. Once again thank you for choosing to support our business.

We had a lovely day out. Visited the local school and got to speak to the headmaster and a few teachers and children which was lovely.
Then onto the local village for a traditional welcome which was beautiful.
Some Kava, some awesome singing by the locals which is just amazing and the local children are beautiful.
        Great day.

We were picked up by Mick in the morning and taken to the Zip line and Tau village. We had an awesome time at the zip line - lots of cardio exercise. The views as you go from zip line to zip line was breath taking. We then went to the Tau village and met the village and it’s elders. We watched a performance from the entire village and had Kava with them. After that we had lunch at the family home - and the food was wonderful. The traditional Fijian food was authentic and we all appreciated how beautifully it was prepared. To finish off we had coconut juice, which just topped off the whole day.

My husband and myself stayed at the Marriott resort about 10 minutes away from this village which was handy.

First of all we decided not to take the optional lunch package as we had not long finished breakfast.
We meet with our tour guide who on the way explained all about the village and the culture of the place.
Then it all started to slowly go down hill from there. Not 5 minutes out of the resort we were told that we were expected to bring a gift to the chief of the village as a sign of respect. So we stop at this little shop just out of the resort and go in and he tells us that we should buy some Kava maybe fj$15 worth.
So that’s fine we start our trip to the village again.

Then we get to the village to be greeted by the chief of the village who pops some sea shells around our necks with a greeting. Then he starts putting a sarong around our waists (which was not even a proper sarong it’s just a piece of material that’s been bought and not even sewn, just ratty frayed edges.) My husband gives him the Kava which you could see he was expecting too.
We have a small ceremony in there meeting house then takes us too the church. I make a small donation into the donation box.
He then says.....”oh I forgot to tell you those lovely sarongs are fj$10 each” and waits for me to hand over the money.
We then head back to the meeting house to finish off the meet ‘n greet but we are not invited into the meeting house this time we are given the left over Kava just outside the door this time. We felt that was a bit rushed.
He then asks if we would like to see the souvenirs shop, virtually leading us there.
We go to someone’s front veranda who has a table set up with trinkets and wood carving.
The pressure to buy something is put on us is really uncomfortable, so I felt obligated too of course buy. I ended up buying a couple of wooden things for fj$35 that would have been approx fj$25 in Nadi.
The chief then says thanks for coming hope you enjoyed your time here bye.

We then head to the local school and told by the driver to just get out and go into the office.
We had to wait as there were 3 other people in there on a tour so not enough room.
When they left we went in and were greeted by the head-mistress.
She was very pleasant and told us all about the school and the history which was very interesting.
We then had a tour of the school that consisted of walking up the outside of the building about 100 meters, turned around went back to the office told about the donation box for the children’s end of year Christmas party asked to sign the visitors book and was then told thank you very much for coming to visit blah blah blah and bye.

Our drive/guide was sitting in the car waiting for us.

Now please don’t get me wrong here. We did enjoy our experience BUT....
The whole tour took 1.5 hour for a price of fj$160 @ 2, then with the donations to the church then the school and the money for the sarongs, buying souvenirs and the Kava
        we paid about fj$70++
The experience didn’t feel natural and all felt a bit rushed.

The whole tour we felt pressured to buy or donate something so we were waiting to be asked to hand money over all the time.

The school tour we expected to at least interact with a class to say a quick hello or meet some kids, but that didn’t even happen.
At the end I managed to talk a few kids into having there photo taken which they really loved. This was the only relaxed natural experience we both felt for the whole 1.5 hr tour.

We then headed back to our resort all within an hour and a half.
