What an amazing day! Words cant do it justice. Tour guides Dan & Jay were fantastic... lots of local info, fun to be with and coped with unexpected incidents. Driving a speedboat was so incredible. Totally epic.. probably highlight of entire holiday! Lots of lovely views and photo opportunities. Mud baths and waterfall is memorable experience. Dan took everyone's phones and captured the moment for us all by taking lots of photos and videos. Enjoyed the snorkeling too.

My wife and I booked this excursion through island tours at the Sandals Grande. We had an amazing time! The boats were a lot faster then we expected, you really get to open them up and you drive them for a long time. I believe almost 2 hours of boat driving. We both got to take turns driving our own boat. The power snorkeling was a ton of fun, the water is crystal clear and there are a ton fish and amazing underwater views. Delan was a great guide, he explained all of the sights and jumped on our boats to take our pictures in front of the Pitons. When it was time to leave there was an issue with our taxi from the hotel. They easily could’ve said this falls on the hotel and made us wait or even call a private taxi. Instead Delan jumped on a boat and gave us a personal ride back on the boat and dropped us right off at the resort.

My husband and I went on this trip. We booked through Sandals La Toc. We felt like this was a bunch of excursions in one! There was some traffic to the marina but our driver was very friendly and shared a lot about the country on the way. We also thought it was nice to see more of the island.
Our guides were Dexter and Cornell. They were professional, friendly, and fun! We got lucky and ended up being the only ones signed up that day so we had a private tour. Driving our own boat was awesome. We saw so much of the island, Pitons, bat caves, Marigot Bay. They shared a lot about the island. They took our pictures often. This was not expected. They genuinely wanted our trip to be captured.
Seeing the mud bath and waterfall was great but my favorite part beside riding in the ocean was the snorking. We were in a very calm area and got underwater scooters to buzz us around. We saw a lot of fish and sea urchins. Cornell even dived down to show me a white one which I didnt even know existed.
Highly recommend!

This was by far the best excursion i have every taken.
The guides we had along with us were great. Extremely friendly, assisted everyone to capture all the moments along the way with their cameras/phones.
Highly recommend this excursion with this group. I will be looking to do this everywhere I travel to now.

Absolutely fantastic. We booked through Sandals. The day was not one to forget. The mud baths and waterfall was good. BUT, the boat experience was amazing!! My husband was in his element. We loved every minute. Captain Dan helped us navigate around 3/4 of the west coast of the island. He was so helpful. Some of the bays were stunning. Very easy to drive the boat. Everything was so well organised. When we come back to St Lucia next year we will definitely we hiring again.

Bottom line: this is the only, and the absolute best, tour anyone visiting st Lucia needs to take.
We stayed at Sandals La Toc during our visit to st Lucia and booked the tour through sandals. A van was provided for transportation. We hit a bit of traffic driving through the city so the trip took approximately an hour to get to the marina. Once there, the guides gave us an overview of the boats we’d be using for the day. They are dead simple to use: ignition key, steering wheel, and lever to engage forward, neutral, or reverse with the higher or lower you push dictating the engine speed. My wife and I had our own, and there were 3 other couples each with their own as well.
The boat ride down to Soufries takes a little over an hour, but the boats make it incredibly fun. One guide leads and another follows behind everyone else just in case. Even on a calm day, you’re in the ocean so you will hit some chop, but the boats handle it all beautifully. I drove and my wife sat in the front of the boat. On the way out the guides bring you in and out of beautiful bays and coves and the coastline is nothing but beautiful cliffs and mountains.
Just outside of town you will stop in front of the Piton mountains. The guides come around and take photos of you in front of the mountains on the water with your own phone or camera; our photos came out incredible on an iPhone. Then you continue on into the bay for 3 or 4 minutes to the beach. The guides will anchor and tie up all the boats. The beach in soufries is incredible.
Then you proceed up the stairs to a restaurant on the beach where you can rinse your feet and use the restroom. Then you get in a taxi which takes you on a short 10 minute ride through town to the mud baths. You can leave everything in the van, but bring your camera. The guides will help you get around any lines if there are any. We had no lines and walked straight down to the baths. First you soak in the warm sulphur water. It surprisingly does not smell like rotten eggs but feels great. Then you get out and cover yourself in volcanic mud and let yourself bake for a few minutes in the sun. Once dry, you get a bucket of black “mud” and you have a blast making different prints and drawings on each other. Again, the guides will take your phone/camera and take plenty of photos of you. Then you get back in the sulfur bath and wash off the mud. Your skin ends up soft as butter afterward. A great experience.
From there, you get back in the taxi and proceed to a waterfall another 10 minutes away. The waterfall has a shallow pool it falls into (maybe 3 feet deep max). The guides will take your photo on land in front of the fall and then once you get in the pool in the waterfall. It was such a cool experience. Although many people disregard others taking photos and simply run out in front of and into the falls, the guides made sure we all got awesome photos yet again.
From there, back in the taxi and 5 minute drive back to the original restaurant on the ocean for lunch. Lunch is buffet style local dishes; everything was wonderful.
After lunch, back in the boats for an approximately 15/20 minute ride to a beautiful cove for snorkeling. The guides help raft up the boats and provide all snorkeling gear. To our surprise, they even had underwater snorkeling fans for propulsion for everyone (think James Bond). These were incredible easy to use and fun and made snorkeling literally effortless. The snorkeling area itself was incredible. Crystal water, thousands of fish. Our snorkeling experience with these guys was hands down far and away better than the snuba excursion we booked through sandals and did 2 days before. Snorkeling lasts for 30 - 40 minutes. Once done they have water and soda for everyone if you want.
The boat ride back takes about 45 minutes and is just as fun as the ride out to town. All in all you cover 18 miles of coast by water, which would take triple the amount of time by road.
There are other tours that take you to do all these same things, but you don’t get to drive your own boat. Spend the extra money, it is more than worth it. We had an incredible time. You all of the highlights of st Lucia while having a blast driving your own boat. The guides are funny and incredibly friendly and helpful.
If you come to st Lucia, make sure you did this tour. If you do nothing else, your trip will be a rousing success!

What a day !!!!!! My best friend and I decided we needed some adventure in our life so we booked this tour .... and we were not disappointed. The boats were very comfortable and well maintained. Navigating them was a breeze ! Driving your own boat is just the tip of the iceberg with this tour though. You leave Rodney Bay driving your boat and you go all the way down to Soufriere. You dock and then its on to Sulphur Springs, Waterfall and snorkelling ! Lunch is also served which was delicious! Then driving back to Rodney Bay. A full day of super dooper fun !!! I will take my husband and do it again !

We originally had one of the speedboat day tours booked.
We were approached by John Louis on the resort and he told us about this tour.
We decided to make the switch, and it was the best decision we made while on our honeymoon!
John Louis was as fun of a tour guide as you can have; kept us all laughing all day long; and we still keep in touch!
As for the tour itself, Captain for a Day was phenomenal. While the itinerary of the tour was similar to all the others (JJ's; Joe Knows etc.); Volcano Mud Bath, Waterfall, Lunch, Snorkeling (Awesome, Refreshing, Delicious, Beautiful); The individual speed boats for each couple would be worth triple the cost of the other tours (but it's not). Best of all, we were in a group of 8 as opposed to the 20-30 on the speedboat tours.
Pros/Cons vs Speedboat tours.
Pros:
Individual Boats
Individual Boats! (Meant to type that twice)
Small Group Size
John Louis
Cons:
You cannot drink on board (for obvious reasons)
Things To Bring:
Phone/Camera
Wear a Bathing Suit
Towel
Sunscreen
Flip Flops/Sandals
Sunglasses
Other notes:
Tour last from about 9am to 3pm
Short bus ride to the Marina to pick up the boats (Was about 10 min from the Grande)
Bus rides from the lunch area to the volcano and waterfall (15-20 min each)
If you can only do 1 tour while in St. Lucia, make this it. We could not be more happy that we chose to do the Captain for a Day.
PS. If you can do 3; also do the Island Buggy Tour and Zip Line Treetop Adventures.

Hi we are arriving on the Norwegian Jade. Do you pick up from the cruise port and do you recommend this trip if cruising? Or is it too much for a port day? Also we have a party of 4, myself (the mom) myson age 19, his girlfriend age 17 and my youngest son age 13. Can we fit in one boat? Is the cost of $245 per person or per boat?
Skrevet 17. oktober 2018
If you "check availability" you will see that it calculates based on person not boat.

I’d this your $245 per boat or per person?
What’s the most amount of adults per boat?
