We live approx 10 min drive from Formby, we must have covered every
Bit of the beach etc, we go down there every couple of weeks.suggest you park at. Larrkhill lane of Victoria. Road ,nothing too pay to park
You. Can then walk thru the. Woods to the squirrel reserve Or just go straight down to the beach. There is a road off lark hill lane that. Leads to the beach. Upto you which way you go,if you have to park at. Far end of the. Lane, there is a track next to. A school that also leads to the beach you will see the most expensive house in Merseyside you can go thru the dunes were you get a great view of same,,,one thing I don’t. Understand are the. People who just go to the beach and that’s. It you Have to explore the area it’s beautiful. I am. Unable to go at. Present problems with my heart hopefully will be sorted out. Soon. Enjoy your trips.

Good parking facilities at both pinewoods and beach ends of the road. But be aware: National Trust members are free, but it costs £8.50 otherwise. Cash coins only and no credit card/pin pass options, only one of the car park apps. If you don’t have the app, there is little internet 4G access to download and set the app up. I tried calling the number where you could also pay, but it also required an account to be set up. So not handy if you don’t have coins!!
Steep sandy banks down to the beach (not very grandparent friendly!) but a total joy of both woods and beach to visit.

This is a huge sandy beach reached through dunes with the adjacent nature reserve/woodland making for a lovely chance for a family day in the outdoors. I went for a nice walk around both areas with my son and his girlfriend; even on a wet day it was a very enjoyable experience. There is a car parking fee for non-national trust members. There are toilets in the woodland car park but no other facilities to speak of.

Beautiful spot - the best sand dunes I’ve ever seen. Formby village itself very pleasant but the beach was just amazing. Lovely 15 minute walk from formby station

Two car parks; one next to the pinewoods just beyond the entrance and a larger one further down and closer to the beach. Meters to pay for parking. Used to be a boardwalk to ease access onto the beach but seems to have disappeared in recent times. It’s a beautiful spot for families and the beach is wide, sandy and clean as well as having a gentle and long slope into the sea when the tide is in. Managed to get electricity down there for all the meters but a shame the National Trust didn’t install a tap. Only toilets are at the entrance and shut early.

Visited in the winter and it was a chilly but sunny day. The late afternoon setting sun and wind-swept dunes created a beautiful and peaceful scene.

Very popular and busy even in October. National Trust Car Park, £7.50 if not a member. Short walk over the Dunes to the Beach which is huge. Lovely Beach to walk along but there are lumps of tar at the moment which you need to avoid

After traveling for 20 mins with my 2 sons one of which is a special needs adult, we arrived to see a sign saying car park closed, watching the car Infront turning away looking disappointed, no cue or congestion I decided to enter the grounds of the squirrel reserve to turn the car around and leave not knowing what to do after planning and looking forward to a lovely day out, firstly there was no one to monitor the traffic flow on arrival, the hut was closed, and I am fully aware that it is a one in one out system if the car park is full, anyways after nervously entering, it was obvious it was not closed, and open for business, plenty of car park spaces on route to the beach through the squirrel reserve, once at the beach I counted over 30 plus spacious car parking specks, so decided to just stay and pay the £7.50 car park charge and continue on with the day, beach stunning and big enough to fit the whole of Liverpool, so no need to turn guest's away, again no toilets for my special needs son, can't understand why they can't have portable toilets with a 40p charge to cover costs of collection and contract, that's all you coul hear on the beach was poor little kids saying to there mum and dad that they needed the toilet, I actually heard parents telling there kids to use the sea as a toilet ,obviously not having a choice, only toilet is at the squirrel nature reserve, to far to walk if you have learning difficulties or a toddler, had to leave because my son needed the toilet, after leaving noticed even more car park spaces, drove to the gents toilet, filthy and unhygienic, and only one sit down toilet which must get used hundreds of times per day by kids and if you are desperate, water didn't work to wash hands, all very frustrating when you are with a special needs adult who can't understand why he can't wash or dry his hands probably, my concern is why has the toilet issue not been updated and more facilities towards the beach end.. as we where leaving a nearly empty car park in the squirrel reserve noticed the sign still in place saying car park closed, obviously had just been put there in the morning and left there with no attendant to monitor traffic flow.. if only whoever did or does that know how it affects someone's lovely day out..if you see it take a chance and drive through, a word to the wise, I've been bringing my boys here since they where babies for over 28 years and nothing especially the toilets and toilet situation has never been updated, just install pay for toilet's if it's a budget issue, so disappointed

How long does it take to walk from formby to birkdale golf course the quickest route please.thankyou.paul
Skrevet 29. april 2019
It will depend on how fast you can walk and also which route you take. If the distance is 7 miles as suggested above then if you were walking through the nature reserve that involves an up and down walk through sandhills then it could take 2.5-3 hours. By road possibly a little less.

About a 20 minute walk. There is a bus that runs from town. Check online for times.

As its National Trust, I highly doubt it.
However there are campsites nearby and close to the beach!

Sefton do not have any notifications on parking overnight at Formby Point, however, as it is out of season there are no patrols, so it may be okay, however, I would call Sefton just to confirm, speak to parking services and explain why, they may say it is okay, but at your own risk etc., especially due to the situation. PS it gets really cold down there this time of year. Sefton's number is 0845 140 0845. Good luck
