Oh dear what a shame…. We have eaten here many times and always enjoyed the food although we agree with other reviews regarding the wines.
Why oh why for a vineyard are the wines so poor ? Even the glasses they are served in are not nice to drink our from.
My husband went for a beer this time as he felt the wines were expensive and not good, however on asking the waitress what beers they had and what did she recommend she said she had no idea as she doesn’t drink beer!
Are they not given training?
I decided to go for the English sparking and it was warm and the glass had lipstick on it.
The other point we noticed is the amount of kids / babies in the restaurant now.
Fine if they sit down and eat but last week they were running about and several people were commenting on it to the waitress it was so noisy you couldn’t hear yourself speak!
It’s in a lovely position please don’t let it become a Pizza Express.

We enjoyed the experience and found out some interesting facts with delicious wines. However I do think that we expected to taste more than just 3 wines! in addition the servings of each wine were extremely small (just 1/3 of a glass) so in total over the afternoon you probably get 1 full glass of wine. At £30 per person I think this is ridiculously expensive

You get to sit in an outside area with outdoor heaters which tbh in November was pretty chilly and I didn’t remove my coat or scarf throughout

Wouldn’t recommend

My boyfriend and I visited for the wine tasting, it was well worth doing and the sommelier was so so knowledgable and engaging. It was a nice sociable experience chatting with some of the others visitors, would definitely recommend to other friends. We stayed in the restaurant after and was served by Rebecca who was so lovely and friendly, gave us really great recommendations and we had a lovely time!

We had lunch here as a group of four friends. Lively and bubbly atmosphere in the dining area - airy outside covered area. The staff were good and efficient and friendly. The home made pizzas were very tasty with local fresh ingredients. Nice salads and puddings too. Perhaps a little pricey for the pizzas and salads. Good selection of wines too.

Lovely setting, lovely pizza. Only negative observation is the young staff were poor. They all seemed more interested in chatting to each other than being attentive to their customers. Sorry to have to write this, but it took the shine off the afternoon.

Wonderful location and good food. Plenty of staff members. My only small negative is that, for me, there were too many tables.

Highly recommend. We did the tour and tasting which was highly informative and gave a good tasting of 3 wines. We then had dinner, and chose their excellent sparkling Rose with a fantastic pizza and meat/cheese board. Ambience great, service great and good to see staff who genuinely looked like they enjoyed being there. Well done Mount Vineyard - keep it up

We visited the Vinyard with friends on a lovely summers afternoon (a group of 4). We’d all wanted to do Wine Tasting and it was something we’d had on the list for a while so thought we’d push the boat out, do it in style at a proper Vinyard, within a stunning setting like The Mount. (We really didn’t fancy a hotel experience!).

On arrival we were provided with a glass of wine, advised not to drink it as we’d need it on the tour. (There was a large group approx 20 in all on the tour).

We walked to the first Vinyard where the host started to speak about the vines, wines, process etc. I’m told this anyway as am partially deaf and couldn’t hear a thing! I would have expected the host to have asked at the beginning of the tour whether anyone was hard of hearing or had any special requirements. (Or wear a microphone possibly). I am very conscious about my hearing (as am quite young) and didn’t want to say in front of strangers could he speak up! The young lad was less than engaging and not a natural ‘speaker’ where he had passion, personality and captured our attention. He was just extremely very ‘dull’.

We then walked to the on-site shop where they sell the wines produced and were basically left unattended for a while…. This to me was a lost opportunity as there were no wines for us to sample, no ‘tasters’ out, the host was ambling around waiting for us, not engaging with anyone or ‘selling’ the wines, Personally we all said this is where they should have really ‘sold’ the wines, advised us what complimented which foods etc… the shop and Vinyard also have the most amazing chutneys… again a tasting table would have been a ideal opportunity for sales!

We moved onto a second Vinyard… all clutching empty wineglass’s, wondering when we might get a refill… various jokey comments were made by the guests… no refill came. The second speech was the same as the first, with me looking around feeling totally isolated as again, I could hear very little. I am told again not a lot was missed as it was just all very average!

We still had no ‘top-up’ at this stage…. I actually saw a cute little wooden hut in the distance (while I was entertaining myself) and thought maybe we’d continue our tour there for ‘our second’ glass of wine…. We did not.

The third and final stage was in the entertaining marquee where a platter of cheeses was laid out. Due to various groups, no one knew where to sit as there was no name plaques…. It was actually quite embarrassing as we were the last to enter this area, with no remaining ‘four’ seats together but as no one was told where to sit, another couple was in our designated seats and were advised they needed to move. (Thank goodness they’d not started to eat the cheese platter!).

The host then spoke about the final two wines, standing at the front of the large open space… yet again I couldn’t hear a thing. This was probably the worst area for someone hard of hearing as he was so far away. There was plenty of space where he could have stood in the middle to ensure everyone could hear him. By this point I felt totally isolated and alone, gazing around to fill the time.

There was no ‘swirling’ the wine around in the glass, sniffing the bouquet, looking for the ‘legs’, tasting it and doing the bucket thing (not that we would have wasted the wine by spitting it out!) - we did question this and we’re advised that the wines we’d tasted were sparking which did not require the typical process of tasting wines however that is what one expects from a ‘wine tasting experience’ and certainly is not sold as a ‘sparkling wine experience’.

We did chat and mingle with a few others on the tour and it did seem general opinion was the same that it was all a bit dull, flat and not what was expected… it was clear everyone certainly was expecting a plentiful amount of wine!

We’ve visited the Vinyard previously a few times now and always loved the setting and dining there so had high-hopes for this one, having recommended it to our friends but sadly, we all left feeling rather flat and heading for the local
pub!

A must visit vineyard, stunning. Lovely restaurant, very popular, best pizzas. Staff young and friendly. Has car park but getting in and out of the property is quite a task, advise using village car park. Simon owns the vineyard, plus the village pub, the Samuel Palmer, well worth visiting as well, only two mins walk from each other. Word on the village, leave time to `mooch` and view, truly beautiful place. Shoreham Rail Station with frequent trains is 5mins walk away.

Arrived 5 minutes late for our 2.30 booking and was told straight away we had to be off the table at 3.55. (not sure why not 4pm as email stated we had an hour and a half) which would have been absolutely fine if they managed to get our food out before then.

We were a table of two, we ordered a garlic bread to share for starter and a pizza each for main.
After around 45 minutes of waiting for a garlic bread i asked our waitress she said she would check on it. 10 minutes passed we didnt hear back from her.
I went back to the desk to tell the lady we had to be off the table soon but our starter hasnt even arrived yet - no apology/explanation or promise of chasing it up just told us we can have the table longer.

Another 15 minutes passed and our pizzas arrived - no garlic bread in sight.
I had to go up and get our cutlery myself. I explained we hadnt received our garlic bread and they brought over some sort of cheeseboard?!

In the end the manager did come over and apologise and gave us some drinks on the house which was appreciated but there was no explanation as to what had happened as everyone around us seemed to be getting on just fine. I believe the order didnt get put in the kitchen which is fine were all human we make mistakes but just tell us thats why it took an hour and ten minutes to get any food!

The pizza is really really good i just dont think i will be back to wait an hour and 10 minutes minimum for it !
