We had some time to kill so decided to visit this cup noodles museum. Note that if you want to take part to personalize your own cup noodle, you have to be there no later that 3:30pm. Probably fun for young kids or if you enjoy such activity. There is an exhibit hall to explain the founding of this company but unfortunately, all the exhibits are in Japanese so you need to have your Google translator with you to appreciate the background.

we purchased the ramen noodle making class it was so much fun
it was about 90 minutes and we started by getting a chicken head covering
then we were given the ingredients to make Ramen and we rolled out the dough. It was cooked, and then we placed it in a bag that we decorated. It was so much fun, although we were the only adults, that weren’t there with little children

From the train station there's signs with ducks pointing you in the right direction.

Free admission. When you arrive, someone at the desk will hand you tickets for the custom cup noodles. If you want to take the classes you have to book far in advance. There may be a lot of students there. It seems to be a popular field trip destination. Waves of kids were inside and more kept showing up the entire time.

You stand in a line until you get to the vending machines where you pay ¥500 per empty cup. I think it's three per person limit. There's a change machine if you have large bills only. At the front of the line you'll hand over your tickets, get lids, and wait for a table to open up in the decoration area. There you have a limited time to color the cups or whatever, I didn't do much of that, then you get into the line to actually have it made.

When you get to the front of that and they call you over to a side, they will have you crank a handle that places the noodles in the cup. From there you wait to pick the base and toppings. A lot of seafood ones so not good if you have sensitive seafood allergies. Then there's the lid sealing and shrink wrap after. Then you go over to the side area and pump air into the plastic bag they give you that will encompass the noodles as it inflates and protect them and a string to create a little handle.

We knew tickets would run out early, so we hopped a train and arrived in time to secure 4 tickets and a 40 minute wait. It was well worth it though, and I would say it's definitely a "must do"
For 500 yen each (approximately $5 - $7) you can make your own custom Cup of Noodle, which is a fun experience. You get to color your cup, then select the ingrediants. You get to crank the handle and watch the noodles being put in your cup before watching it get sealed. The onsite museum is free and was informative and includes a short movie about how noodles are made, and a diorama of its creator home.. There is a full wall display of ramen products over the decades. Be ready to wait and arrive early as tickets do run out. The custom chicken ramen were 1000 yen ($9 - $11) The museum takes about an hour and if you decide to customize a noodle cup of your own, add about 30 -40 mins depending on how many people are there.

The locals are happy to point you in the direction of the museum if you ask. Instead of paying 180 yen for water from the vending machine out front, head down the side street and you'll find a vending machine with water for 80 yen.

This place was fantastic fun in the town of ikeda at the noodle musuem had a great hour here after the easy 5 minute walk from the station just down the road where theres signage to easy navigate to get there.

500yen to create your own noodle cup and put you artistic skills to the test with creating your own sealed masterpiece to take home to eat or just as a decoration.
after creating your cup get to get a little hands on spinning the wheel to force the pressure of noodles in to cup and the ladys behind the counter will allow you 4 toppings to have in before sealing it and shrink wrapping it just like you would buy at the shopping markets.once all done get a bag to put into it so it will be compacted like bubble wrap to take home for safe travels

Interesting art and timelines in the musuem to show how the noodle started up with a history of it all and the huge amount of different flavour and varietys on display from past to future

cute little souviner shop also on the way to the exit for some cool little reasonably prices gifts

Worth checking out for a fun little time out in the smallish looking town of ikeda

We came on our last day, when we have time and didn’t know where to burn. We took the train, followed google map. At the entrance we were welcomed by the security guard, otherwise we might have just walked past it! Upon entering, there’s lots of cup noodles models on the wall… Pay ¥500 to get the cup, design it, select ingredients and watch how the cup noodles are put together. And finally the feel good factor of being able to bring one home.

Great for kids (and adults). My son enjoyed making his original designed Cup Noodle so much we’ve gone a couple of times. Upstairs there is a break room with a vending machine that has international Cup Noodle flavors.
